These morons need a hobby since the Kackler lost, so they've decided to make the CPD the target of their impotent ire:
Residents, community activists and elected officials on Sunday called on Mayor Brandon Johnson to fire police officers with ties to the Oath Keepers extremist group and form a task force to address the problem.
Those gathered at Movement on Montrose, 2951 W. Montrose in Irving Park, urged the mayor to act on the Office of the Inspector General’s recommendations for the task force and to reopen the probe into the eight officers, saying they didn’t trust the CPD investigation.
“The OIG’s office has compared this scandal to a time in the 1960s when a CPD officer was fired for being a KKK member,” said Grace Patino of the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, one of the organizers of the event. “Make no mistake, nothing about this situation is normal or should be made to feel normal.”
Unless they can prove beyond any shadow of doubt that "membership" affected the performance of duties, then it's a First Amendment issue of free association. Most if not all of the Officers signed up for or were signed up for a newsletter, attended no meetings and met with no one even suspected of a felony.
We hope they keep pushing, because at some point, they're going to make these Officers rich off taxpayer money. We'd also say they have a decent case against the media who keep publishing their names despite never being charged with wrongdoing and already cleared by investigations.

I had a movement on Montrose once. I ate the jailhouse fried bologna and eggs at Jeri's Diner at Montrose and Western after drinking all night at the 4am joint down the street.
None of these "concerned citizens" ever called for any cops who were supporters of BLM to be fired. And BLM is far more dangerous being a Marxist subversive organization.

A hand full might belong to Oath Keepers. So what ! The amount of BLM CPD members is far greater. They all supported, backed and even participated in the civil unrest, looting and riots that destroyed parts of this city. Some even have BLM tattoos. CPD can't do a thing about any Oath Keepers. Majority of bosses would have to go if the same was done about BLM members.
I'm a older civilian that looked into OathKeepers because I didn't what it was... Then I learned you had to be a sworn or former LEO or military.... No harm, no foul....

Oath Keepers was innocent when it first started. It was about cops not violating the citizen's right to bear arms was it not? So some yahoos later got in to it. Let it go.

Hi everyone. I am a community activist also and head the Make Chicago Great Again Movement. We are demanding that all member of Movement on Montrose be publicly pantsed and given wedgies until they almost pass out. Then, as they are lying on the ground, sniveling, crying, and sniffing back snot, they must all apologize to all members of CPD past and present.

But, I did take an oath and it had no expiration date. Four years military, 27 CPD. If my training, experience, and reasoning have taught me to be loyal to the Constitution then expect me to protect and defend it. This is what the government wanted. Protecting the concept of a constitutional republic can take many forms. It’s as simple as continuing to believe in its value to humanity or voting. It is found in vocal opposition to those obviously opposed to it. It is in our willingness to engage as citizens of our republic.

While I agree that the officers have a potential defamation suit against the paper, what financial comp they would get from that action is questionable. Newspapers generally are money losing propositions (the people who still read them read online and the papers can't get the ad revenues they used to for print media), so the end result may be putting liens on some old computer equipment. Of course, it may be reward enough to see the editorial board of the paper learning to say, "Do you want fries with that?"
