Bad Omen?
They're tearing down the old Tribune printing plant to make way for the casino, so no permanent harm done, but this isn't how a typical demolition is supposed to go:
Construction debris from the ongoing demolition of the former Chicago Tribune Freedom Center fell into the North Branch of the Chicago River last weekend. The work began in late August to pave the way for the $1.7 billion Bally’s Chicago Casino on the 30-acre River West site.
Videos shared on social media showed a crane bring down a wall, causing white granular material to spill into the river and bring protective netting down with it. As it hit the water’s surface, the debris produced a dusty cloud and then settled, floating on the river as cranes ground to a halt.
Operations were halted immediately Saturday afternoon and cleanup efforts started that evening. Bally’s identified the debris as non-hazardous perlite, a volcanic glass used in construction. Using row boats and skimmers, a cleanup crew collected the floating bits and removed the big chunks of debris by Sunday evening.
Slow news day.....sergeant results came in the email today though. Let's hear some scores!

I can’t believe I scored so bad. Test seemed easy. I felt I knew the material. I put a lot of time in. The heck with it. I scored 300 from dead last.
I remember the scores on past tests use to give you a numeric score and how you ranked among everyone else that took the test. Now it’s 5 or 6 different categories & you have to multiply this by that, move this decimal over and some other nonsense. What’s so hard about doing it the old way?

Scored 2610! So excited I’m one of the highest scores. Told all my family I’m going to make something of myself.

Test was waste of time. Not worth going down to that s. Show and dealing with crowd and delays. No phone call either so even if I made it by score they would send me so far South Id be working in China on midnights. Congrats to those that did well. I guess its not for me.

Am shocked, seemed easy, I’m no fool, am highly educated etc studied, etc and even if it isn’t a scam I do know from personal experience the scams lies and cheating that go on this job as I’ve already seen it! Not going to let the darkness of this job get to me though as I will come out winning at the end like usual

When the perlite fell into the Chicago River, it was obliterated by the river water, like it fell into acid. No harm, no foul.
Same here. Studied, test had a few challenging questions but not the worst I’ve taken yet I’m about 600 from dead last. I’m honestly kind of shocked it went that bad.
It is irrelevant what my score is. I am gonna get promoted. Blow your commander and you might get a spot too. So long, suckers!

Snelling held the door for DEI applicants who can't wake their asses up early for one of the biggest days in their police lives.
In past years, the Inspectors were at the doors come game time and they were closed at the proper time. I guess Ol Lar had to make sure some of his queens got in.
Does anyone know what number they went up to on this list they just took down..?? Or better yet, how many people turned down the promotion? I’m seeing that they made 324 off the list by score (excluding merit) but I’m hearing a guy in the 370’s was a couple two, tree out on this list before it got scrapped… I’m just curious if anyone had some insight… is this the new norm with cod to make micro classes instead of the big classes they used to make?
The individuals that I’ve seen score well on past tests really leave me amused. I remember our new desk Sgt years ago, came out of the first class (by score), and watching that person read my short half paragraph arrest report, waiting for their approval to go back to the LTs office was like watching paint dry. Then they tell me that there’s no probable cause and I have to go back and put that in. In disbelief I look over their shoulder and then point out the probable cause statement and I’m still told no that’s not it. I had to go get my Sgt to come up and explain to them that everything was indeed correct. The best and the brightest!

I didn’t study at all for part 1 because that’s just pass fail based on orders and everyday job knowledge. Studied 4 days a week for about 4 and a half weeks leading up to part two of the test and scored in the top 70. Don’t have a phone call. I am not noble or lapa or southside Irish or st pats alumni. Just a CPS kid who decided to put my future in my own hands. Took grief from people when I told them my score but then again they are the same dogs who haven’t done shit in their careers and used to be scared of their own shadow 10 years ago when we were out humping (pun)

Tell me how people could score so high when they didn't finish the test I know someone who scored very high on the list and told me he didn't finish the test but will be made in the first class. The test was legit right, a city and department run by fools
That says something about how poorly others did if a person who didn’t even finish beat them. When is the first class so we can pay homage to the hall of fame?
Per FOP, I believe they didn’t make it to the 370s. Ended somewhere in the 360s
Merit is robbery but I have no issue with them recycling the list and test. Top 350 is the top 4-5%. That’s not a bad number to promote at.
