Meet Me in St. Louis
An amusing thread over on Reddit where someone driving through St Louis saw a CPD squad car parked in the driveway of a run down house.
The squad car is #2013, which marked cars were never that low. The paint scheme seems slightly off and it appears to be a Tahoe (maybe?) which haven't been used in years. Plus, any squad cars sold second hand always had the decals and markings sandblasted off.
We assume this is a movie/TV show prop, but we dodn't really care about that - the comments are funny as heck and you ought to go and read them. We don't think you need to sign up for anything - we didn't.

Thats a 4wd version...districts didn't have them..
O'Hare just retired the last of their Tahoes and Vics recently. There's still some canine units that run these older Tahoes still.
But this is definitely something Somebody made up.
I'm guessing a retired copper. The car under the tarp also appears to be an old police car.
Ahh, looks like another shit-hole blue city too me.
Back in the day, big bird would’ve wrote them up for no beat tag.
Temp plate too
Why does the chicago fire dept commissioner live in the suburbs??
The 3 vehicle's parked there are worth more than the house
Hmmmmm. Makes one wonder.
The city was to cheap to buy the 4x4 package and also to cheap to have the radios taken out of the dash board.
If he runs late for work I’d have to take a slip
Replica and looks to be in good shape definitely not 1 of our junkers!
There once was a TV show way way back in the day titled "Car 54 Where Are You.
By the wheels, the one under the car cover is a crown vic
I am thinking the same.
The Mayor's side piece supposedly live in the burbs. Maybe she lives in the FAR burbs and that's part of the Mayor's gigantic suck boy bodyguard
Because she's "special".
That's probably where Conehead actually lives. Or maybe it's just his summer home. So, the car is just a part of his massive personal protection detail.
The Robbery Team probably chased a car all the way out there.
Bawshaha
a beat tag?? i haven't seen those in years

I believe the reason that the rear-wheel-drive versions of the Tahoe were purchased is that they were "pursuit rated". The 4x4 versions were not. (Too top heavy). As it was, too many were wrecked by inexperienced drivers rolling them over!
Maybe P.O. Jose Z. from 014 2nd watch left it running with the keys in it at Western & Armitage. (lol) Upon returning, noticed it gone. Quietly returned to 014 retrieved the radio room key and signed the car and radio back in and checked off like nothing happened. Twelve hours later in a southside district an alert beat car observes a hype in a fully marked CPD unit pulling over female motorists and investigates leading to its recovery and the arrest of the offender. He told the investigating officer's that he took it because it was running unattended and unlocked, so he figured what the hell!
The officer who had skated on thin ice the majority of his 30+ years, was allowed to retire! This was circa 2005-2010 era, if my memory is correct!
Sorry SCC, but you evoked this memory! Fun times indeed!
A classic TV series. I read that the NYPD prop cars were actually red and white, not black and white because red looked more black on the film. The show was back in the B&W TV days.

The academy still has the two wheel version. The recuits use them at driving school. The bumper number is off. It would be from a special budget with a number in thr 2xxxs.
Doc Z was also a Corvette collector. (sarc) The scary part of it is I can think of dozens of guys wilder than he was that are/were OTJ.
I believe they still have a crown vic too?
Exactly that. The 2wd versions were lowered and therfore pursuit rated. When we first got the Tahoe in the early 2000s in the general orders they were not to be used in pursuits and were therefore given to supervisors. The only 4wd versions that I have seen were found at ohare and midway.
Don’t forget he would get written up for being off of his beat too.
