Nice Traffic Unit Larritorious
Wasn't there supposed to be a Unit dedicated to solely stopping this crap?
Widespread street takeovers plagued the city’s Far South Side over the weekend, clogging up traffic as crowds gathered to watch drivers spin donuts in major intersections.
One scene turned violent when a takeover participant threw a large firework that exploded inside a man’s SUV and set the vehicle ablaze. In another incident, two bystanders were struck by a sports car as it spun donuts.
Stop sticks. Tow trucks. Traffic barricades. Impounds galore.
We're just going to make up a rumor that this new unit is staffed solely by aldercreature nieces, nephews and exempt member pincushions who work Monday thru Thursday, ten-hour days, 0700-to-1700 with a two hour duck to beat rush hour home. No weekends for these go-getters!
And they probably all have 6th and 7th period furloughs.

They don’t do anything. Bunch of 3-5 year wonders hanging out in the 1st district then going home after. Waste of money and manpower.
Listen to these traffic unit mutts on the city wide, bus checks are the height of their activity. But in their defense, the shithead mayor has more people on his detail than the traffic unit so what can we expect. And DEI seems to be the requirement for that unit. Squad, gives me an event number for doing nuthin, okaaayyy, ummhmmm.
I expect this to pick up with warmer weather.

Somewhat true they do work weekends but they only stay downtown , they rarely venture out . They have guys that just got off PPO status with no connections but cause nobody else wanted it , of course those one year wonders think they’re special and don’t do much , a handful if that are worth a damn and actually do police work
Another useless unit , we use to have units worth a damn like Gang Enforcement , SAT teams that actually knew what they were doing not two year wonders on CST .

Also why do district tac sgts respond half the time but never CST or PRT sgts ever come on scene of things . What kind of scheme do they have . We don’t need all these units send em all back to the blues
Traffic unit isn’t the only that sucks ! So does skeleton crew narcotics , VICE / asset forfeiture , the dept needs a complete overhaul get rid of these do nothing units with arrogant 2-3 year wonders
Only reason the drag racing unit was created after the beginning of the disaster known as Mexico Independence Weekend riots ( not a celebration when you destroy property and harm first responders it’s a riot in my dictionary ) .
Slightly off topic but another joke of a unit is possibly coming back as I’ve heard rumors of Gang Enforcement / gun teams coming back eventually soon of course with another fancy rename . More spot for tacti-fools with a year on to go and fuck up basically .

Hours went from 0300 start time to counter the violence overnight into the mornings….then the phone call people started coming and poof….the hours changed because the ENTITLED people cannot be expected to work into the wee hours of the morning……some even get take home cars……

The Mexican, South and Central American drivers in Chicago don't give a damn about Days of Thunder or Talladega Nights. They ain't like the white guys who bought an American car, added some muscle car parts and drag raced them weekend nights in the industrial areas like south of the Stevenson expressway and west of Pulaski, or even worse, south of 47th st and west of Kedzie (not enough slow down space). The Pulaski guys had cars out blocking sides when they were racing, and one of the business owners told a new Sgt. "they sit at the picnic tables I put out for my employees, but they leave it cleaner then when they got there." When it was time to shut it down (Corliss who ?) we'd back up the 99 car that had the hydrant wrench and start to flood the streets, the racers immediately new it was time to go home.
The city is too f**ked up to do what is necessary like surrounding the spinouts with buses (heard a Sgt. was already burned for this) or even better, the biggest Streets and San. trucks with PLOWS. Unlike the old days when the police ruled the streets, THE CITY has nobody competent or willing to do what is necessary. City departmets cannot respond timely. All the politicians are woke wusses. Everyone is afraid to be sued. Didn't Shakespeare say, "First thing is, lets kill all the Lawyers " At this point, I doubt even this would help.
Someone should ask the THREE Lt’s they hide in unit 180 what should be done. Two of them are brand new with Lt Hawkins working to lead the charge. Isn’t this the same unit when Lt. Marc Vanek was dumped from? Seems they added 2 Lts for dumping goofy Vanek?! Unit 180 hides more incompetent people than Asset Forfeiture!!

I’ve been chase terminated at least 20 times in the last year by a watch sergeant, not even a tact Sgt, and it is extremely frustrating. How does law enforcement stop criminals then? If shithead makes it to their vehicle they are free!

Hawkins is a good guy for any unit. Hes hard working and dedicated. I have known him for years and had a relative that worked with him. Never heard of any officers working the street had any thing but good things to say
Concur with young guy. All of these old cops are fucking useless and have been useless their whole careers. They sit around telling “back in my day” stories. When you work with them, you realize that they don’t actually know how to do anything but be old and suck up overtime opportunities.
