Taxpayers Still Screwed

The Juicy saga comes to an end....and taxpayers see exactly zero accountability:

  • Details of a settlement reached between the city of Chicago and actor Jussie Smollett have now been released. The city was suing Smollett to recoup what it spent investigating Smollett's false claims that he was attacked.

In 2019, the city of Chicago's Law Department filed the suit, after Smollett failed to meet a city-demanded deadline to pay more than $130,000 into that allegedly staged attack.

Smollett paid the city $10,000 in 2019. He will now pay an additional $50,000 to "BBF Building Brighter Futures Center for the Arts, a local organization that provides community, health, and education opportunities for Chicago's underprivileged youth," according to a statement from Chicago's Department of Law on Thursday.

So the OT costs will be borne by the taxpayers and the charity "donation" will be:

  • tax deductible for Juicy
  • a boon to Conehead who will now get to redirect the $50K that would have been spent on this graft somewhere else

When the City is teetering on the edge of bankruptcy, all extraneous spending like this should be curtailed immediately and ruthlessly.

More art programs. Hahaha. Yea, that’ll fix the ghetto. May as well create more midnight basketball tourneys.

This is who they elected. Forget the facts of the case, the facts of the investigation. And then you forget the citizens who have to pay the bills in this city? Instead you tell Smellsit, you will settle for half of the amount and we will just call it even? This gives Smellsit a tax break when he gives the money as a donation to some alleged kids organization and not to the city to pay the bills? Since when does the legal eagles working for the City negotiate with criminal offenders?

I am sick of Brandon Johnson saying crimes is down. And come into the city and enjoy yourself……when this goofy mayor cannot even pay to turn the lights on? Let’s take a look and see if Jessie Smellsit gives Johnson an election contribution?

It’s the Chicago Way!

This will be an interesting one to follow. "A woman jailed by a judge after she failed to appear in court at least five times for a stolen motor vehicle case is asking the Illinois Supreme Court to set her free."

Not much on current events, are ya? Midnight basketball (and baseball) are making a comeback this summer. They announced it yesterday. It’s gonna help continue the “downward trend we’ve seen in violent crimes, particularly murders which are down 40% this year…”.

It seems the chap who drumbeats the idea incessantly has somehow subliminally influenced Supe Larry Layingpipe and others in the 35th Street Braintrust to try the “what’s old is new again” approach.

Prediction: EPIC FAIL

I just read that the city is going to bring back midnight basketball as well as start a softball league for these fools. A softball bat can cause more harm than a basketball so the city ought to re think this and change it to whiffleball. Midnight basketball guy has been heard who'd have thunk it.

I wonder how long before Jussie's image is "rehabilitated" and he's out morally preening, lecturing us little people, and acting like a victim along with the rest of the celebrity crowd.

He’ll never get hired to act in another TV show in Chicago, that’s for sure. Jussie tanked a successful series with his BS, and put a hundred+ local film crew out of work. Cinespace remembers!

In a wide ranging interview with PEOPLE, Smollett sits down to discuss the aftermath of the 2019 incident and how he's facing the future
Jussie Smollett doesn't care what anyone thinks. In his eyes, only the universe can right his wrongs.
Still, the road to finding inner peace was one of the hardest things he's ever faced. He's learned how to "hold on for five more minutes" amid the chaos of the last five years — a close personal mantra he now holds dear to his heart.

--It goes on like that for another seven pages! But "dear to his heart" is as far as I got.
