Remember when CPD used to park squad cars in a reasonably secure location and then assign a couple of Canine Units to patrol the lots so as to prevent vandalism?
Additionally, an unknown number of001 District squad cars suffered slashed tires, broken windows and outside mirrors removed. Given the pool car situation the past few years, are Officers relegated to foot patrol and bus routes?

At this point it's just over we aren't even allowed to protect our own department's property in our stations!!!! I remember not too long ago being a part of this once great department and being PROUD of it, but now it's an embarrassment to be a Chicago police officer. Officers are pinatas being punked by unruly kids, 100% at the direction of bosses and their stand down orders. This is a fucking disaster. How do you guys and gals do it daily?

When we had to go to the west side for bulls riots we drove our own personal cars there. We carpooled and removed the license plates and criss crossed the windows with duct tape. The cars were parked at Garfield park in a lot which was guarded by police and we took the green limousine and were dropped off on different corners for the fun and games.
Why are we even down there? If they want to march and scream on a bullhorn, let them. Our main objective…. Pffff… is “the sanctity of human life” so why are we protecting property? When will the bosses realize that our presence is what fuels this fire? They want us there to provoke and insight, they’re nothing without us. Let their green hats protect their first amendment right. Additionally, we can’t provide the resources to protect their first amendment right if a permit wasn’t pulled and a proper route designated. Once they roam free or “merge” with another hate group… bye bye.

If you put yourself out there to try to do anything, the dept and copa and the national media will ensure your life will become a living hell. Remember that. They can say they have our back until they’re blue in the face, but as soon as you give someone a well deserved crack, you will be all on your own. You will get called down to copa, iad, court, depositions and you’ll learn really fast that you are totally alone. As much as we all want to do our job and go out there and do the right thing, remember they will hang your ass if you do the slightest of things that even looks a little inappropriate.
