Best Rant Ever
We didn't know he was still alive:
We were still in high school when Lee Elia let loose with this one, and we heard the censored version for years on the Dahl and Meier radio show opening. He played for both the Cubs and the Sox, but he probably picked up most of his salty attitude in Philadelphia
Without a doubt, one of the greatest rants ever.

Sounds like my grandpa watching them in the 70's
That was hilarious!
I’m a man I’m 40 come after me
Whoo ahhh
Almost popped a boner on this one.
Memories.......
Greatest rant ever !! And it’s only because everything he said was true. Just imagine if someone would have said that today lol. Pussy ass kids whining and complaining about it.
AWESOME and spot on!
Now that is a baseball manager that tells it like it is!
FUCk Political Correctness! :)
Couldn’t do it nowadays too many peoples feelings would be hurt
Couldn't have said it any better myself! Helps that I grew up on south side.
He wasn’t wrong
I listen to it every season. LMAO
Who asked the question that got him so fired up? Was it that Jim Shorts guy?
We lost a real character with the passing of Elia.
Thanks to Les Grobstein for this nugget. Dahl and Meier playing the censored version had me howling as a high-schooler. I remember digging up the uncensored version after it was reported that AJ Pierzynski used it for his pregame psych up routine.
“The name of the game is hit the ball, catch the ball, and get the fkn job done.”
“”…AND PRINT IT!!!”
Steve Dahl's Sox disco demolition stunt caused me to rant back in the day.
Ahhh, memories
He's absolutely right about the lazy asses who dont work but attend games while the rest of us have to work for a living. The ONLY reason fans go to Cubs games is because its nothing but a fucking drink fest for 9 innings or 2 1/2 hrs.
World’s largest beer garden
Speaking about Steve Dahl the anniversary of disco demolition on 7/12/79 what a fun time
Anybody know
~
I saw him managing the single A affiliate of the Phillies years later in Clearwater Florida.
Signed kneeling blm-supporter
A die hard Cubs fan is a thing of the past, my grandmother never missed a game on channel 9, everyday win or lose. Now it's just a big party (and that's OK) but none of these fans could give you any stats. Grandma could give you stats and even go back a few years.
A classic...he was the first of the cancelled culture to tell the truth and pay for it.
That ranks right up there with R Lee Ermey in 'Full Metal Jacket.'
The only thing Elia left out was the fact that the umpire didn't have the common courtesy for a "reach-around" to the Cubs catcher. Semper Fi.
Les Grobstein I believe
Was recorded without anyone's knowledge by Les Grobstien WLS sports radio in the locker room
Well that sure the fuck Sounded like a typical conversation on any fucken job I've ever been on.
Is that what you tell your boyfriend?
The old man used to drive us to Wrigley in the back of a pick up truck. We would get in the bleachers for $3.50. Great times! RIP Lee Elia
Always brings a smile to my face. The photos that were added make it even funnier. Dude laying in the cat walk netting is a real hoot!
Jimmy Shortz was the best
Then you get to piss on all those nice lawns
good stuff
Nowadays, we need a Rap Destruction Army.
My grandfather was a die-hard Cubs fan who worked in a steel mill. I'm sure even he would have been shocked to hear the uncensored version of that epic rant. But he also bemoaned his Loveable Losers, never seeing the day the Cubs took the World Series and broke their losing streak. And he even stepped foot in Old Comisky Park to watch a few Sox games, but kept his Cub loyalty until his end. RIP Grandpa R.
"Jim Shorts, and you're all gooped up on gob!"
Submit Johnson's administration for Cubs... That plays pretty good.
Yes. He managed the Clearwater Threshers, the Phillies single A team
$3.50 ! Your a youngen. I remember getting in for $1.00, a hotdog, coke & the bus ride back & forth was shy of another $1.00, we had a dime left for the just in case phone call, stick around after the game & help cleanup got you a free
ticket to the next game.
85 % of you guys are working on this blog and the other 15% come on here to rip you guys
