Are Taxpayers Due a Refund?
After growing slightly for two years mostly due to an influx of migrant students, Chicago Public Schools’ enrollment dropped significantly this school year, continuing a long-term slide.
As of Sept. 15, the 20th day of school, CPS had about 316,000 students, down by about 3%. The percentage of Latino students in CPS dropped, from 47.3% to 46.4%, while the percentage for other groups rose or remained the same.
“Enrollment decreased across the majority of grade levels and most student groups, including [students] identifying as Black, Latinx, economically disadvantaged, English language learners and students in temporary living situations,” Interim CPS CEO/Supt. Macquline King said at Thursday’s board meeting.
We're also told reading and math scores dropped.
So less students and less accomplishments.
QUICK! Better raise property taxes. Gotta keep all the underutilized schools open, wasting money.

More 1/2 to 3/4 empty schools with a glut of support staff and $100K+ administrators.
Steinmetz College Prep had a 173-student (16%) decrease in enrollment this school year from last year, their enrollment went from 1059 to 886 and their building utilization is now only 54%. Capacity is 1632 students, not including the 8-12 mobile classrooms.
Chicago public schools need to consolidate and close buildings not in use. It doesn’t take an economics teacher to figure out where to save money.
So illegal immigrant students who don't speak or read english drop out of schol and then reading and math scores drop? This highly suggests that reading and math scores were being propped up by kids who don't soak english!

Families are leaving! Who would want to raise a family in this crime ridden city. As a police officer going to calls, there is way too much going on. The politicians messed this place up!
CPS has over 600 schools open. Come 2027 when the moratorium on school closures ends and the CPS budget massively in the red look for lot of political excitement in the CTU as principals and assistant principals fight for the remaining open positions.

Was talking to a retired CPS teacher and she said she saw some shady stuff over her career. She made sure her grandkids went to catholic school as a result. On top of that, she lamented the closure of some catholic schools because lack of funding. Well, she said CPS has to do the same thing with how low the numbers are in some schools. Interesting, huh?
Close 25% of Board of Ed facilities. Convert them into casinos and weed bars for the Chiraqis. Profits to police pension.

and every family should be considered "financially disadvantaged" especially the ones that work and get taxed to death to support the other families that don't work, get free food, free housing, free medical care, free drugs, free cars, free beer and cigarettes all thanks to those tax dollars
I find it funny conehead is screaming about jobs but his darling CPS can't churn out a student competent enough to hold one.

The CPS has morphed into two things. An employment agency for adults and an undeclared political party. It is no longer an educator of students.
Typical. I know a couple CPS teachers who sent their kids to catholic school to keep them out of the zoo. That said every time they got a chance they complained about how underfunded they are. When I pointed out that the CPS budget was over $8B (a few years back) they shrugged.

Would like to know exactly how many illegals are in school and how much of our taxpayer money is funding their education. I’m sure the brainiacs in CPS and city hall will say “we don’t keep those statistics”.
My kid told me he would like to finish high school online. It was great. We did a lot of activities because he could just log on and knock out school anywhere. He said “Screw college” and became an Electrician. He will be a Journeyman at 22.
Former CPS teacher/Disney Mayor Brandon Johnson states that children can’t learn reading, writing, thinking, math, science, etc. because their brains are filled with White Supremacy, colonialism, toxic masculinity, MAGA violence, right wing boogeyman, etc.
Does anyone know the actual total capacity of the public schools in Chi-town compared to the actual number of students registered? Simply put, How many empty desks are there?
They enroll, but never come to school. Ghost students. The numbers are worse than reported.
I want my overpaid tax dollars back! With interest! They raised taxes saying that it was costing more per student. Now there are fewer students. It is time for a refund!!! Defund CTU...!!!
