First PPP Fraud, Now Housing Fraud?
To be fair, there's a bunch of precedent for this:
- Two Chicago police officers, a city firefighter and a former Water Department employee have been indicted on federal fraud charges alleging they lied about their employment and income for years to qualify for subsidized housing assistance.
One of the accused worked on the west side where there have been a number of cops who deliberately misrepresented or concealed their real estate holdings to skirt the rules concerning "distressed neighborhood" home ownership. CWB wrote about one here along with a Tribune expose which went nowhere.
Even a Deputy Chief was involved but nothing ever happened to any of them. If you assist the higher-ups in a successful "enterprise," they'll go to bat for you throughout the investigative process. It's a story as old as Chicago Machine politics.

“Kameisha”. She’s been on extended medical her entire career every assignment she ever had extended medical now she has that job where she goes to elementary schools and talks about stop drop and roll and hands out stickers. Not surprised.
One tends to get comfortable in these fraudulent activities when deeply imbedded within the belly of the cheat beasts our city and county and state is populated by.
It's the extrapolation of the constanza principle variation, aka, it isn't fraud if not one is looking and many are applying this same standard.
Spot on! "Housing", probably the biggest scam going down in Chicago. Section 8 abuse alone costs taxpayers millions every year locally - (gummint check) plus a little "taste" (cash) on the side, every first of the month!
This is only one variety of the housing scams subsidized by we taxpayers. Mortgage fraud, kickbacks, govt. largess, etc. need auditing.
Federal fraud, from the top down, needs a DOGE treatment.
Gov. Chumly can furnish another way to scam RE taxes.
The feds are fed up.
Seems there’s been no consequences, as expected, of the handful of CFD Deputy District Chiefs who need more PPP money since their exempt rank salary isn’t enough.
But did they pay their water bills?
