The media tries to gaslight Chicagoans...again:
As hundreds of young people congregated in the Loop last week, a 14-year-old was killed and eight other teens were wounded by gunfire, reigniting debate about how to handle such gatherings of teenagers in Chicago.
The meetups, known as “teen trends,” or when they go awry, “teen takeovers,” have sometimes led to violence and prompted questions about curfews, how to provide alternatives for teenagers and the role of parents.
The shooting was the latest of these kinds of gatherings to turn chaotic. In March, a 15-year-old was grazed by gunfire in Streeterville. The get-togethers aren’t unique to Chicago — they’ve also happened in San Antonio and Denver.
Most gatherings are peaceful, but race is often cited as a factor in the negative perception of the events, even before they turn violent. The groups often include Black and Brown kids who say they don’t have safe spaces to gather in their communities, raising other questions about investment and the needs of teens.

What is making these kids feel they don't have safe spaces in their communities? Is it roving bands of Irish, Italian, Chinese and German teens?

Nothing about immediate gratification, about taking things that don't belong to you, banging hoes and shooting perceived enemies over imagined disrespect?

We noticed this "trend" if they want to call it that in the late 90s when we would get detailed to the Mag Mile on weekends. There were trouble makers and they would get locked up. No one ever twerked on a squad car because they would never be able to twerk again. The trouble was in the Cook County Court system as they let the majority of arrests go with no justice or consequences.
The lack of control over these teen groups, which are black, (there I said it) is a result of parental control which is absent, the incompetence of the Illinois State Legislature and Gov Pritzker which past the most damaging "Safety Act" bill which has caused chaos to to everyone. Now there is no responsibility, accountability for criminal conduct. Everybody knows this but looks the other way. And then to add insult to injury the police are scrutinized and vilified for whatever they do. The Chicago Media are either saps or they are cheerleaders for the Democrat Machine. Add the feckless beta boy Mayor to the mix and we have disaster after disaster. This is why businesses and residents who are able to leave will. Is BLM Brandon still searching for the root of what causes crime he said he was going to pursue?

I worked in the 18th District in 2003 for a short time. That was the first time I saw CPD herding black kids around downtown and eventually back to the Red Line. I also recall tourists near Ed Debevic’s being attacked by a mob of little black kids…beating and robbing them! Over the years I’ve seen how Daley, Emmanuel, Lightfoot, Johnson, and their colluding media covered up…or at least downplayed the hordes of black youth creating mayhem downtown. For those who are unconvinced of Chicago Park District Superintendent Carlos Ramirez Rosa's contempt for Chicago Police, let this account erase any doubt.
Carlos Ramirez Rosa is scum.
Nearly 7 years ago, Chicago Police Officers Eduardo Marmolejo and Conrad Gary were killed when they were struck by a South Shore train while pursuing a suspect at 103rd and Dauphin.
A K9 statue dedicated to Ofc. Marmolejo was to be unveiled today at King-Lockhart Park at 106th and Western (19th Ward).
King-Lockhart Park was specifically chosen as the site by Marmolejo's family.
Though the planning for the statue dates back months — CPD worked in close collaboration with the family and Park District and promoted the event — at the 11th hour, the cop-hating Rosa denied space at King-Lockhart for the Marmolejo K9 statue.
No apparent reason from Rosa was given to the family for the reversal.
A reliable hunch is Rosa's progressive ideology forbids him from honoring Police.
Instead, the K9 statue was displayed today at the CPD Academy on West Jackson Blvd.
This decision to pull the rug out from underneath the Marmolejo family is no trivial slight, but a kick in the teeth at a family who lives in perpetual grief.
This denial of space to permanently place a monument honoring a man who gave his life while serving Chicago represents Rosa's unparalleled hatred for CPD.

I am proud of my achievements, like never being on welfare, my kids know who their father is, I actually work for my money to buy food, health care, medical care, I never needed the gvmt to give me parenting classes, my kids are not roaming around downtown beating and robbing the good citizens trying to enjoy the night....etc...

I remember decades ago two teenagers looking for a safe space in Englewood to have some fun in. They decided that a street perpendicular to Garfield was the perfect place. So they got out their bb guns and started shooting those teeny tiny BBs at passing cars. They were laughing and having a great time, and it seemed like a very safe space to play in.
Some driver, presumably upset by a teeny tiny BB striking her or his car, circled the block, came around the other way, and fired real guns at those two, innocent, funnin' teens, letting them bleed prostrate on the street. So sad. They don't laugh at all anymore. So I can see the need for them to have a "safe space" where they can have fun at the expense of others.
Here's an idea. Maybe Mayor Johnson can invite all those teens looking for safe spaces to his block where there's over a 100 police officers watching the block. That should be safe for everyone!

I wouldn’t call someone a moron evidently you didn’t read the comment above yours. The CTA has hired K9 for the trains. The city could just as easy hire private firms for those sweeps and other K9 jobs, probably for less than the cost of supporting the K-9 unit
