Snow??? In November???

Who would have thunk it....snow during the holiday season:

  • The worst of a brewing winter storm is expected to hit northern Illinois on Saturday.

A winter storm warning has been issued from 3 a.m. Saturday to 6 a.m. Sunday by the National Weather Service.

The Chicago area is expected to see 5 to 9 inches of snow, according to the NWS’ forecast Friday afternoon.

As far as "sizable" snowfalls go, this is middling at best. And it's happening during a holiday weekend, so you can bet the plow drivers are excited for the first really big OT payday in a couple of years.

Chicago has dealt with far worse far better and with far less drama from the panic-driven media machine.

The Chalkers Guild is always prepared.

Fluid based chalk juice, freezing upon contact, will mark the spot, delightfully.

agreed being blown a bit over the top , but we haven’t had a big snow with mayor conhead and his s&S office , will he tell them limit salt to save money since it’s early in season etc causing ice to form no pun intended . This snow ain’t going anywhere until Feb either 20s and 30s in the long range model .

I recall the Blizzards of '67 & '79. This is nothing. Just a Chicago snowfall. As a kid, I knew we had heavy snow when the city brought out road graders to help plow.

The only plausible explanation that one can rationalize during these absolutely unprecedented times is global warming. We must pray to the earth deities harder and donate more money to the DNC, then our sins shall be forgiven

Doubtful. If the tax raise didn't stir the voters to a revolt, a little snow wont either...Voter in Illinois are idiots...they love the idea of complaining, but nothing ever gets done anymore.
I am waiting for the the villagers go downtown with torches and pitchforks and pull Chicago politicians out of their offices and cover them in tar and feathers...

Why would they. Their taxes aren’t high. It’s the Cook County tax bill and the problem is it’s the Chicago Board of Education that takes up 53% of our property tax bill

I was in high school for the 68 ? Storm. We were not prepared, outsiders had to be brought in and we shoveled for days to get parents cars out. Looked like cocoons lol. In 79 the city was prepared with 50 unimog Mercedes blowers and a ton of new loaders and backhoes. Outside operators including myself were brought in to take the 12 hour nightspots. This time the had the men and equipment but weak leadership with bilandic, the eyetalians were all ghosting or sleeping if they weren't heavy enough to ghost. They lied to the poor mayor and the citizens did revolt for a change
Mob fucked him. Now we have the same circumstances. The street dept can handle any snow that we get. Really. But we have a weak punk as mayor and he put thieving burglars in charge of the working depts. Wouldn't suprise me if they were looking for the plows to put on today. Good luck chicago.

I realize that I’m really old because I remember ‘67 & ‘79 which were some real storms. Back then the city only plowed the major streets Ashland, Damen, western, California etc. Side streets you went where the ruts in the snow went for the most part. I believe that changed during “Lady Jane’s” time in office.

I agree with you, just like the massive storm that never materialized a couple of weeks ago.

But I just went out at 6pm Saturday to shovel mine and it was 7 inches of heavy snow. It’s still snowing and expected to go all night for another 3 or so.

What a day for my snow blower to take a shit.

OT Hey SCC, surprisingly New York Times has a long article about massive [overwhelmingly Somali, they admit it) fraud in Minnesota.

Headline: “ How Fraud Swamped Minnesota’s Social Services System on Tim Walz’s Watch”.

Goes into detail about how they were afraid to fight it because Somalis are such an important voting block for democrats. This is the NYT admitting it.

It’s behind a firewall probably. Maybe you’ll get a couple of articles free I don’t know.

Not entirely - no streets in 010 are plowed these days, unless an artery (Kedzie, Cermak, 26th), or leading to a firehouse.

I am told that there is massive fraud in the southwest suburbs by a large ethnic group. New illegals are told to get a civilian divorce to get gov’t freebies. Wife (and the 4 kids) then derive section 8 benefits. She then pays the divorced husband, who owns the house. He in turn uses the rent payments to pay the mortgage.

"Winter storm watch, winter storm warning, heavy snow warning and blizzard warning." All mean go out for the bread and milk. The winter of '85 was the worst I remember when it comes to bitter cold. 80 below zero with the wind chill. IF the car started, it made sounds I've never heard before, and you'd get frostbite if you were exposed for more than a few minutes. The CFD commissioner fled to California, but was ordered back by the mayor. That was bitter cold.

Alaska Daily News had an article that laughed at Chicago weather forecasters reminding people to bundle up because it will be cold. Their take was "no, let them freeze to death if they're that stupid. We'll find them eventually."
