Outfit Job?

This goof served Federal time after being fired from the job....and then got probation for another crime?

  • Joseph Pecora, a former Chicago police officer who served federal time in 2006 for taking 50 pounds of pot from a drug supplier, has been sentenced to probation after DNA evidence allegedly tied him to a $350,000 burglary on the city’s Northwest Side.

Shortly before 8 a.m. on May 6, 2023, someone entered a 79-year-old woman’s home in the 5700 block of West School by breaking a basement window while she was away. The burglar stole about $350,000 in cash from a safe and slipped out, according to Chicago police records. But investigators also found blood on a basement curtain and sent it for DNA testing.

Prosecutors said the sample matched Pecora.

And after getting out of prison, guess who hired him?

  • Pecora, who resigned from the police department shortly before heading to prison, has apparently continued his service to the city post-conviction. Municipal payroll records list him as a $51.41-per-hour “asphalt laborer” for the Chicago Department of Transportation.

We might be mistaken, but we think we remember John Kass referring to CDoT as the "Department of Tony (how you doin'?)" as a clever reference to the Outfit connections that ran through City Hall for years.

So how connected do you have to be to be fired from the Police Department, then re-hired by CDoT? The article doesn't say anything about the $350K being recovered....so are we seeing the curtain drawn back from the continuing mob presence and influence in Chicago?

Cdot definitely has its interesting, colorful people.. I was only in it for 2 months til I bid into Aviation, but whew.
I was on his asphalt crew a few times.
One laborer had to have his joint break. And when we were done with the potholes, had to drop him off at a bar near belmont and central. What a department. Glad im out of it

Oh wow. I have stories about this guy which I won’t tell here but he definitely took care of the local meatheads at the gyms across the city with the proper medicinal aids to get big & strong. Mob connected real grimy. Did a lot of his drops while in uniform. Real blatant. Thought he was untouchable. Rolled on some heavy hitter bikers from the southwest side for a lighter sentence. Man had his hand in a lot of cookie jars.

Residential burglary is a non-probation-able offense. How does a convicted felon get probation for burglarizing a 79 year old woman and stealing $350,000?

Their family all have Union hard to get Union jobs. Knew a few who were “projectionists” in IATSE. Mobbed up family from the local were draining the pension. Many were ghost payrollers, but others if they had jobs on film/commercial sets back in 1990s, early 2000s were responsible for so much theft that Chicago’s heyday for filming here dried up partially bc so much was being stolen and insurance was getting to be a problem.

the old mob never went away, but they have big competition now. The drug cartels run cook county and, by default, the state of IL. They have foot soldiers ready to go at the drop of a hat and they own cops, prosecutors, judges, and politicians.

All of these anti-ICE rent-a-mobs are 100% cartel funded and are serious about killing federal agents. That's why ICE got out. The cartels sent them away. If they come back, they better be ready for war. The cartels don't give a flip if you have a federal badge.

Sustainabilty begats Longevity.

Greed begats Urgency + Stupidity + Egregious Impunity.

This OG Mob, Old School, values the former.

The Newly Progressively Greedy spawns the latter.

The ideal of there being no griftings where ever there are taxings is delusional.

Neighbor is asphalt laborer. He swipes in at the Wright college yard at 6:30am. His crew heads out to cold patch few potholes. By 9:30 he’s back home hanging out until 3pm. Then drives over to 016 to swipe out. All major resurfacing projects are now outsourced.

It’s my daily reminder that I f* up joining CPD and I wish I got on with CDOT. Oh well, almost done with my 20 year sentence. Happy Thanksgiving all.
