Withholding Funding
Unlike the Chicago Public Schools, someone in Washington is refusing to send good money after bad:
A federal directive issued Tuesday threatens to choke off Chicago Transit Authority funding unless the agency immediately boosts law-enforcement presence and reverses what federal officials call a years-long surge in violent crime and worker assaults on its buses and trains.
The order, issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration, follows the November 17 attack in which Lawrence Reed, a man with a long criminal history who was wearing an ankle monitor for a pending felony matter, allegedly set a 26-year-old woman on fire aboard a Blue Line train in the Loop. The case is one of countless headline-grabbing violent crimes aboard the city’s transit lines.
Unfortunately, there aren't any police to assign, so efforts to boost those numbers will likely fall flat.

They will assign/detail cops from the white neighborhoods like they always do.
There are plenty of police to assign you have 22 districts in the Chicago Police Dept each with ac10 man tact team. Each district sends a 4 man squad to work the trains as a 4 man team. No more tickets everyone gets hauled into the station for a fingerprint check and a little inconvenience tine in the lock up waiting to clear.
You need a CTA court that handles all the arrests with a judge with a backbone.
The CTA is like a terror train! Ride the buses and trains at your own risk. Should be their model.
Oh there are officers who will be assigned to a CTA detail. The brains of this organization will just gut the districts just as they did for CST manpower. The few souls left pushing the beat car will need to figure it out or be whipped like slaves. The 120k a year armed time keepers or gate guards, or the newly minted position of “Captain’s secretary” they will not be helping with the back log.
Deputize all CCL holders. The compensation being CTA free/no charge passes. Make a legion of the citizen vetted of passengers, concealed by the very nature of their licenses, and an armed society is a polite society becomes real.

Perhaps some "Hate has no home here" signs, maybe some "Gun and Drug free zone" makes people safer also.
Let's not forget the 59 yoa developmentally disabled man who nearly hit the third rail when a "gentleman" of similar characteristics to the burning woman offender punched and threw him off the platform for the offense of not giving him $$$. Anyone know the victim's current condition?
Worked CTA Special Employment 20 years ago. I was shocked how little to no police officers are patrolling trains and train stations. There is no way I would ever ride the CTA! Bring back Sgt. Baby G out of retirement!!!

Fatso Pigster balked at the letter he received from the FTA advising them to watch the local news and it was his goal to make the CTA the safest public conveyance in the country. Is that what he is going to tell this young woman who was severely burned on the blue line by this heathenous savage who should have been locked up but was out of jail because of his Safe-T-Act.
The feds will enforce. And it'll clean up quick. And every single law abiding passenger will breath easier.

Federal $ come with conditions, not the least of which is a transportation system where young women can ride trains without fear of being set on fire by career criminals.
Also being ignored is the fed's demand that states submit their records on SNAP and EBT programs to ensure that federal $ aren't being wasted on non-citizens and fraud. 20+ states have complied, but naturally democrat states are not in compliance and risk losing those monies.
Of course this plays well with the Trump hating democrats, but Trump will be in office for another 3 years and the fed has the right to demand compliance and accountability.
I read an article the other day about the rapid decline in crime states in Memphis after they accepted federal help. Dramatic change and the citizens there are grateful too. Chicagoans should be jealous.
Maybe they can hold back Federal funds until CPS employees stop sexually assaulting kids?

Yes. If the Feds can withhold money from the CTA they can withhold money from police departments for not turning over illegals in custody to ICE.

Retired here...Is there still a Mass Transit unit? They never did very much except hide and go to lunch. Their canine units were even worse with their 6-hour tours.
FYI...The bosses all knew and didn't care as long as they got their take home car. It was the biggest grifting unit in CPD next to the airports.

The biggest issue is, squad give me a number for upper and lower, as the people assigned to mass transit drive by stations. You hear it constantly, but when something happens, we have no one. Yeah, I get it, its a shitty job riding trains and busses, but if you're assigned to transit, aren't you supposed to be doing that?
I STILL wouldn't ride the Redline!!! Maybe if I had ballistic plates and a rifle..

Bring back the Guardian Angels! ...or at least the CTA transit detail. I agree with the feds here, the CTA is a lawless zone and the predators of Chicago know it. Would also be nice to have judges that keep the predators in jail, but that's asking too much.

Take 75 of the mayors 150 police and put them on the trains
Not employees, only CCL vetted licensed to carry concealed citizens. More vetted than any of our nation's current 'migrants', Deputized being an add on designation to the CCL, perhaps limited to status only upon CTA property.

What good are police riding the CTA when they get no support from city hall for enforcing the law or an activist judges lets every arrestee walk after 30, 45, 72 arrests?
That's what happens when you get units that only phone calls can get you in and nothing to do with your actual ability to be a worker
