We can't reproduce the graph here (it's 243 pages) , but CPS on average seems to be around 80% of students are NOT proficient at the 3rd grade level. You can search for schools at the link up top.

Also, buildings are under used. 50 kids in a school build for 2000.
my wife and I agreed before we got married that we would each work two jobs to pay for a Catholic education. That not because we are religious, but because we would never send our kid to the CPS.
In the end any diploma coming out of Illinois will be useless paper.
I still cant figure out what kind of math they're teaching my kid. I had to memorize the multiplication table and stand up and recite it in class. None of thst. I have to ask Ai how to answer these math questions. We went to the moon with learning math the way it was taught for decades and now it's changed.
Teachers getting raises though. Teachers have fought tooth and nail to remove teacher accountability in the classrooms. It’s never the teacher’s fault for students failing. Public school is not free, we all pay for it. The teachers with underperforming students need to be counseled and eventually fired for their performance.

So let's defund the 3rd grade teachers until they get the scores up.....
From kindergarten to 3rd grade all teachers would be reduced in pay until the scores are raised sounds like a way to cut some dead wood and pay some bills......
Time to prove why your being paid. Instead of being paid just because your filling a seat....works for me.

All I can say is Wow. How very sad for our children. One has to wonder what the ultimate goal is in not teaching kids to read. This is a statewide problem not just Chicago or Crook County. We certainly are not getting our moneys worth (taxes) from teachers.

Answer: Larger budgets, more property tax money, smaller class sizes, more inefficient bureaucracies, more CTU input, additional days off for staff in addition to 3 month summer vacations, greater control over elected officials, less reportable standardized testing, increased grading on the curve for children of non citizens, school breakfast/lunch/dinner/snacks that reflect appropriate ethnic dietary requirements, less oversight, amnesty for staff accused of inappropriate sexual conduct or grooming and the pursuit of greater federal, state and local funding.

Very smart our kids are the top "assets" we have. We all know coppers who take the big vacations, have new vehicles big houses some are husband and wife coppers, mucho dollars flowing in but they choose to send their children to the dumpster fire of cps why?
How does a fully staffed school with a 10% enrollment rate not be able to teach children to read. I'll bet they know about reparations and police misconduct from 30 years ago.
So with that lowered standard the real number is probably around 90% of Chicago's third grade students can't read at the third grade level. Combine that with inflated grades at the college level and all those proposed data centers in the Chicago metro won't find anyone locally qualified to work in them.
