Total Homicides: 433 (-29%)
Sizeable drops, so Congratulations to the Chicago Police Department for operating at a significant manpower deficit and during massive overtime expenditures.
We Congratulate you here because you aren't going to see much in the way from City Hall, and (if rumors are to be believed) there won't be much in the way of hiring or overtime in 2026, so it was good while it lasted.

Has anyone taken it into consideration the fact that the city was flooded with several federal agencies this past year? Am I wrong in thinking that probably had something to do with the lower crime numbers last year?
Thanks to area 5 PRT they led area 5 to the biggest drop in crime in years.
Also give thanks to those medical professionals who saved many who might otherwise have died.
If forced OT/days off canceled/12hr days are going away then I’m postponing my retirement.

And we all know how this will go. Mayor McDoofus will advertise how much the numbers dropped and it absolutely shows we “can’t arrest and incarcerate our way out of problem but look how much we did we less!” The city will absolutely take credit for the drop, not say a damn thing about the forced OT and cancelled RDOs and say the Safe-T Act is absolutely working. It’ll be a giant Democrat circlejerk.

The shootings won’t hold at this level. Trump is slowing the drugs coming into the country. That is affecting the shootings.
Break it down by race and the numbers make sense. ICE had put so much fear in all mexicans that they were afraid to leave their house. Much less commit crimes. This includes the US born mexican gangbangers.

How much credit is to be given to the police or to the civil administration or to "violence interrupters" or to weather etc, is always up for debate. Crime usually is strongly effected by employment levels, the rise and fall of age groups and a policy of swift prosecution. Crime is down all across the country . Johnson wants to take credit for the crime drop. Maybe he has found and solved the " root causes". Yes, crime is down in Chicago, but the levels are down even more in most of the country. Now, you are seeing a call for fewer police officers as many feel they are not needed. I read one commentary that called for a reduction in Chicago to the levels of police officers that are in Los Angeles, just over 9000, as LA has a lower crime rate then this town. I predict a rude awakening for the socialists in this town.

So, now the courts are keeping the National Guard out of Illinois at Gov Fatass request. How much lower could the numbers have been? We will never know, because too many Illinois politicians and activist judges are currently fighting against "Law and Order"

here are several reasons why crime is down: population movement from large Uban Centers to smaller population centers? How many 911 calls are not being answered? How many citizens are not reporting crimes (illegals)?
