Great Move

We, along with many of our readers have been suggesting this should be standard practice for years:

  • The ABC7 Chicago I-Team has learned a Chicago police officer shot in the wrist by 26-year-old Dexter Reed is countersuing the Reed estate over the injuries he suffered during the fatal 2024 traffic stop.

His "estate" is 100% narcotics, armed robbery and welfare proceeds at this point, but his "heirs" had expected a million dollar payout - which the City Council rejected:

  • Last April, the Chicago City Council rejected a $1.25 million proposal to settle the litigation.

Get a load of this liar's lawyer's claim:

  • An attorney for the Reed family said Thursday, "This counterclaim is offensive to Dexter Reed's family. These Chicago police officers targeted and unjustifiably shot and killed Dexter Reed without cause or legal justification. The result - 96 shots and yet another tragedy in our community."

Um....he shot a cop. That's why he got shot....justifiably....and that's why the City Council finally found their testicles and realize that if they keep rewarding assholes who break the law, they're going to keep getting assholes who break the law.

The main trouble is that you (as the plaintiff) have to come up with money out of pocket to do it, and if you're on the losing end, it's ALL on you.

I know many lawyers who would do this on a contingency.
We like to laugh about lawyers, but they may be necessary evils.

Major reason you don't see countersuits is it cost money. The lawyers who sue the police know they'll get a payout but its impossible to get payout from a shithead family. Hopefully the officer isn't paying this out of pocket, its a good message nonetheless.

Dexter Reed was in the neighborhood stalking his ex- girlfriend while armed with a firearm the day he encountered the officers, and he subsequently shot a police officer during a traffic stop. He was pissed the officers interrupted his foolishness. Has anyone interviewed girlfriend or are we still keeping the sh-it a secret? The family knows far more than what they are willing to admit to.

Retired....I been commenting on the blog for many years that our union should assist in providing attorneys to our officers to go after citizens to countersue and civilly sue for false CR allegations to start sending a message to the public. There are many citizens that hold good paying jobs and are city and state employees that act a fool get arrested, file a CR and put our officers through all the B.S. As soon as a CR is filed and if the officer is very confident it's B.S and after the lodge reviews the allegation/incident and they believe it's worthy of go after the person civilly then the lodge should help provide an attorney to begin civil suit and start sending a message. I guarantee the CR game would decrease. Officers and attorneys could make an arrangement for a percentage of award for payment. The lodge needs to start playing offense with this. Retired 2024

The Reed family attorney (and his ilk who represent those like the Reed family) give all attorneys a bad name. How anyone can make such a public statement with a straight face and zero sense of irony is disgusting.

Though I do hope one such attorney can be found by one of The Gym Teacher's skeletons and puts him through the type of Hell those of us who have been through 376 have known.

Fk you larry.

Kudos for the Officer..Its about time that we (police) start fighting back and end this ghetto lottery bullshit. Maybe once these assholes start getting hit on the wallet, this shit may stop. Question is, if the officer wins, will he EVER see the money???

years ago a senior citizen from Ohio was the victim of a random home invasion. Suspect killed by responding officers. Suspects family got settlement for the death. The victim had previously sued the suspect for what ever and his family failed to provide a defense. Victim wins settlement against the suspects estate. When the suspects family settled the victim got the money and gave it right to the Police

Even-though the family lost the city lawsuit, I think the officer’s lawsuit (if he wins), could stipulate any proceeds this family takes in by selling Reed’s bs sob story etc would go to the officer. There are podcasts, YouTube crime channels etc that payout (maybe only mininimally), but I fully support this. The media, the activist groups etc dragged this officer thru the mud. He should sue. I hope he gets something.

What’s happens is, the city is advised that there is a counter suit against the plaintiff or the estate if he is deceased. Any award the estate/plaintiff gets in a settlement with the city is frozen, pending the outcome of the counter suit.

3/07/2026 11:45:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

They didn’t lose anything yet, the city council just refused the settlement, so Reed’s attorney will either take the case to trial or try to enter into settlement talks again. The officer will not see a dime unless the family wins the case or the city decides to settle.

Absolutely. Turn about lawfare against the assholes who perfected it. When your done office, sue for asbestos, sue the katlic church for touching you inappropriately, sue epstien west, the ctu and public skrools, sue the cta for ruining your shoes with every body liquid and solid you can imagine. Maybe sue the Marlboro man for that one square you smoked in 8 th grade. For decades now the left uses lawfare against the normies on a daily basis and the lawyers and kommie politicians think it's hilarious. Clog up their kangaroo courts with bullshit suits and make them work.
