Shooting burglars is a good start:
A three-time convicted burglar is facing burglary charges again after a South Side homeowner allegedly caught him breaking into a garage and shot him in the leg.
Officers responding to a “burglary in progress” call around 2:45 a.m. on March 7 found 59-year-old Jose Pantoja lying in an alley behind the 5100 block of South Loomis Boulevard with a gunshot wound to his right leg.
A 40-year-old man who lives nearby told officers he heard someone breaking into his garage and found Pantoja wearing a mask and placing a socket wrench into a backpack. When Pantoja allegedly tried to flee, the homeowner, a valid concealed carry license holder, shot him in the leg, according to police and prosecutors.
And guess who didn't even ask for him to be detained on bond?
He is charged with burglary and possession of burglary tools. Prosecutors did not seek his detention, and he will remain free pending trial.
Court records show he has been convicted of burglary three times in Cook County.
Three Strikes would have had this convict behind bars, unable to commit crimes.

So much for crime being down in 2026.
Love a good community righting itself story.
It’s basically just a rolling halfway house at this point.
Is his real surname Pendejo??
It should be!
Or, more like the alleged prosecutors...and judges!
I guess we're lucky that the victim wasnt charged
Nobody cares about the crime Scc. Where's the old school posts with the initials of the bosses doing this and that. Do you realize that at this moment the dept. Is sealing a future of corruption, dei, etc involved promotions and nothing is to stop them. Some of us put in some time just to be passed over for the connected. People are in charge with no idea of what to do and now some units do as they please as if not supervised. Stuff is real on the street. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Scc please focus on fixing the dept and please help us fight cronyism, nepotism, clout etc. Nobody cares about who got shot last night. Thank you for the platform though.
Too bad the guy didn't hit the scumbag center mass. He could have permanently detained him, which is what the scumbag deserves.
A better shot placement would save everyone some money.
One of JBs people?
Or is it Toni's people's?
They will.charge the homeowner you watch.
We need a Habitual Offender law that make it a class X felony if you have 2 prior felony convictions.
A couple of center-mass double taps would have the same effect as three strikes, with ZERO chance of repeat.

Do yo really think hell show up for his court date??? What a fucked up system we have..Thanks to Prickster, Judges and Pricktinkle.
We police officers like to drink and love to gossip, share rumors, etc.. So last night I heard the most interesting and horrible gossip. I was sitting by myself and a few chairs away from me three other coppers were talking. They said many years ago a sergeant was charged with a CSA and it occurred in Michigan and in his camper trailer. His camper trailer was parked in the police parking lot and the Michigan State Police forensics unit processed it for evidence.
Good Lord! When did this happen? Where was this?
the burglar could have had accomplices that attacked the homeowner... next time take about 10 min to clear the area before calling 911... if the burglar bleeds out during that time, it's sad, but gotta do it to protect yourself...
Next time aim a little higher and hopefully he gets one right in the beak. Good job for 0245 hours.
He has to be out so he can vote
Crook Co is the worst.

That's what I thought!
The offender will sue.
He's kind of old to be a burglar.
I hear you brother. I hear you.
This job can become frustrating when you do your job and see other people get ahead because of political affiliations, clout, nepotism, corruption, paying bosses off, sexual favors, etc...
Yes people even in 2026 money and sex is exchanged for favors, promotions, being assigned to units, etc...
So my dear brother herd is what you can do. 1. Focus on yourself and learn breathing and meditation exercises. Start out with three minutes a day. Add 30 seconds when you feel comfortable. 2. Lift weights to lower your stress, anxiety and frustration. 3. Visualize and make yourself feel good by imagining yourself enjoying your retirement. If you do #1 and #2 then you are going to have a long and healthy retirement. That is the best revenge you can get. But if you still want to get even with people who caused you harm then by all means do it.
If it had been a copper he/she would have been charged.
Umm I likes the crime stories, especially when they have a happy ending…SCC is not just an insiders view of CPD, but appeals to many of us in the Chicago area
Look into it yourself
Just say no wtf
And nobody cares that you can’t score high enough to get promoted. You are one of the biggest problems on the job. You entitled prick. Now go back into your hole, nobody wants to hear your damn whining.
Agree
Great job by the homeowner, but I would advise anyone in that situation to ensure that you advise the responding officers that you 'were in fear of imminent danger' at the time you shoot the perp and that language makes it into the police report. Shooting someone who is running away from you is probably okay with our current States Attorney, but you have to be careful on this. Generally shooting someone who is running away from you, makes it harder to claim you were in fear of death or injury.
The burglary victim will be sued. He'll have to show his life was in jeopardy, and that deadly force was necessary. Unless his garage was connected to his house, it's not considered a defense of dwelling. The plaintiff will argue this was simply a property crime, and he was just stealing a wrench so he could use it for work to support his family. And we can expect he'll get charged by the SA, and have his CCL/FOID revoked.
The homeowner, not being LEO, will not be investigated by COPA, at least.
Homeowner should sue the burglar for damages… to recover the taxpayer dollars spent patching his leg up at Stroger.
Yes I remember the case and yes the mobile home was parked in the 25th district lot. He was the Sgt who broke a persons leg at a bar after that person got into a fight with his off duty boyfriend.
Why didn’t the other three invite you over? Because you’re a TROLL?
I Saw Kamala loading Government cheese into a CPD Paddy Wagon, with Hillary Clinton Says:
Time for some kind of charges to be placed against all these Judges letting career and dangerous criminals out with no bail, some type of Endangering the Public Charges must be enacted NOW. and no judges given immunity from prosecution themselves. Strict accountabliity needs to be fully enforced, and judges who abuse the system need to be jailed, alongside with the criminals they are protecting, so they learn real quick.
The home owner should have "Double tapped" Him. The burglar will sue the ass off of him.
Perp?
So much for the new States Attorney.
The communist teachers union strikes again, as kids get more stupid

Wait is Kimmy back running the SA Office again. Burke/Kimmy... same shit.
the new States Attorney is like the old States Attorney - worthless.
double's nice.. triple's better
i belive in armed citizens but......if he was running away he shouldnt have shot him there was no danger but yes if he thought he was in dauntnger of being harmed yes defend yourself.
A trick frequently used is to quickly turn away so you can make money in the lawsuit after being shot. Prayers the home owner isn't charged. 🙏🙏🙏
Bad guy could be running, turn and attack... he broke in, so fuck him... buh bye!
