WTTW Lies while CWB Reports
WTTW continues to embrace the libtarded narrative.
CWB pretty much embarrasses WTTWs half-assed reporting:
The WTTW headline was damning: “Excessive Force Allegations Against CPD Officers Rose 46% Since 2022: Data.” How can it be that after all of these years of efforts to improve the city’s police department, there is still so much excessive force being deployed?
But allegations are just allegations. And WTTW’s report did not explore how many of those complaints were ultimately found to be valid. In fact, the outlet does not appear to have requested that data before filing its story. So, CWB Chicago did it for them.
As it turns out, the numbers look quite different once you filter for complaints that actually held up under scrutiny. The worst year for bona fide excessive force complaints in WTTW’s data set was 2022, and even then, the Civilian Office of Police Accountability sustained just 15% of cases.
CWB then cites (and charts) the complaints and rates of sustained allegations.
Guess what?
- criminals lie;
- supporters of criminals lie;
- family members of criminals lie;
- people with an agenda to push lie constantly
Good to see someone taking up the pursuit of truth instead of propaganda.

I’ve been saying it for quite some time now. The use of force policy changed and “requirement” for a TRR as become soooooo lenient, it’s laughable! TRRs are done for EVERYTHING now. On top of that, CIT ambulance runs where we “dupe it to the ambo” no longer really exist. We are now trained in CIT and those crazy bastards get squirrely all the time… just ask Mongol… the kid with a forehead the size of a drive in theater… anyway…. We now document the crazies. But.. but…but… wait….. wasn’t there a short bus going around with social workers in there to handle these calls???? The bus with bankers hours that only served the west side?! Sorry libs, hard as it is for you to understand, the CIT calls are 24/7 motherfuckers!! Come and do some real work and you will see that we have to go HANDS ON with these “people in crisis.” Now it’s documented and no longer duped to the ambo where we are doing a hospitalization case report. Hence…. The increase in TRRs or as the media likes to report… Use Of Force. Open up Pandora’s box libs, and you will see that your narrative sucks!!!!!
I'm old enough to remember when in the early 2000s they enacted the signed affidavit, the complaints sharply declined. Then low and behold remove the affidavit in 2021 and wow, complaints miraculously rise. It's almost as if the public can just make shit up without ever being held accountable for filing false complaints.
I need to send CWB a check. I knew in my gut that Heather (does anyone know her husband for bonus points?) was telling only a small part of a story. CWB found the angle. Great job CWB!

It's quite simple. Criminals get arrested. They go before a judge. They get a lawyer and they plead not guilty. Then a strategy is employed. Part of that strategy is to discredit the victims, witnesses and the arresting officers. Part of THAT strategy is to complain (lie) about the police. It's on page one of the Shithead Almanac.

Chicago Tonight used to be appointment television for me, but after WTTW went woke I ditched the entire station. Haven't watched it in over five years.

That’s what happens when you take away contractual rights of officers with that requirement of signing a sworn affidavit when making allegations.
The department should bring it back because officers should file lawsuits for defamation of character. Sgts and above have sworn affidavits and I can assume the number of CR is not as high for supervisors.
For one, I stopped watching WTTW long ago because of their biased guests and reporting. But, allegations are allegations and a allegation being " sustained" is in the eye of the beholder. Just because COPA determines excessive force was used does not mean that excessive force was actually used. Let the independent arbitrator get his/her vote.

The article says that the cases were sustained. That does not mean that allegations of excessive force were sustained. COPA as a matter of course will add more allegations for other things that have nothing to do with the original allegations during their investigations. Therefore, the rate of sustained allegations for excessive force specifically will be even lower than CWB even reported.

It's desirable to have a CIT trained officer to handle the mentals, but not required. Anyone can and should be able to handle those calls. And sergeants need to step up and say that, so CIT officers don't get burned out and more officers take the training.

State law now prohibits the sworn affidavit. Supervisors got to keep it because their contracts had been ratified before the law passed. (Constitutional impairment of contracts issue). They'll lose it as well with their next contract.
