Another Conehead Corpse
A 17-year-old boy is dead after being shot in a drive-by on Chicago’s Northwest Side early Friday, and the circumstances surrounding his death have renewed scrutiny of Mayor Brandon Johnson’s decision to let the city’s ShotSpotter gunfire detection contract expire.
Passersby came across the boy lying in the street in the 6700 block of West Grand Avenue at around 12:49 a.m. and flagged down a patrol car, believing he had been struck by a vehicle. Officers who responded initially shared that assessment, but a subsequent investigation determined he had been shot.
Surveillance footage pulled by officers in the local district’s surveillance room showed a gray Volkswagen SUV traveling north on Normandy Avenue, with a gunman firing from the back seat, according to preliminary information. No one called 911 to report gunfire in the area.
According to CWB, this is the 80th incident in areas formerly covered by ShotSpotter.

Today while working the no kings protest which was rdo canceled, I got to see and hear Chief Hein verbatim calling novalez a loser. Novalez was walking towards the line and hein tells Steven’s “go get that loser what the f*ck is he doing”. Mind you, there was about 10-15 POs/white shirts around him. That man’s got zero respect for anyone. Novalez comes back and all you see is hein just berating and disrespecting him, to his face and behind his back.

Eighty getting paid demonstrators, wearing numeric sequential black sports jerseys with the government name printed for each the deceased along with a bold "R I P ShotSpotter" logo, can stage a die in at city hall lobbies complete with blaring rape whistles, booming bass drums, plentiful inorganic pre-printed signage with photos of the murder victims, calling out bullhorns, disruptive chants, and silly siren whaling megaphones. Say their names. Say all eighty (80) of their names.
Assembled activists can exercise their right to a mostly-peaceful insurrection protesting the budget slashing of ShotSpotter LLC on site at the city's very own capitol building and occupy city hall chanting, "Hey Hey, Its time to act, time to get busy with a ShotSpotter contract!". Mostly peaceful insurrection. Or they can raise awareness around city hall placing eighty pre-constructed caskets and graveyard headstones in the streets causing traffic disruptions representing the eighty lives that could have been saved with a quick first responder's response. Hire actors to portray grim reapers, skeletons, zombies and giraffes to agitate the crowd and cause further mayhem forcing a government funding solution. Get the working class's attention to the inhumanity of cuts to this lifesaving tool and force elected supervisors to allocate funding where it is most critically needed. No one deserves to lay undiscovered in an rat infested alley, on a broken glass littered one way street or in a trash strewn vacant lot after being shot or killed.
