A bill that would require Illinois workers to be provided more protections from excessive temperatures made progress in the state’s General Assembly this week.
House Bill 3762, as amended, would require the Illinois Department of Labor to adopt extreme temperature safety standards for employers by the beginning of 2027, with enforcement beginning the following year.
Sponsor of the bill, Rep. Edgar González Jr, D-Chicago, said he has worked with organized labor groups on the bill, but is waiting on industry interests to provide input for further changes.
The language isn't even finished yet, but the Bill is moving through the process.
How bad (unwritten and open ended) is the language? This bad:
When temperatures are too cold, employers must provide thermal protection and face coverings, mandatory warm-up breaks and either schedule modifications or task rotation to limit exposure.
Rep. Dan Ugaste, R-St. Charles, said the bill’s scope was too large, which he emphasized by saying there is nothing that would prevent it from applying to professional sports teams.
“Are we going to tell these sports teams that they have to stop something mid-game because Illinois has a law,” Ugaste said. “They've been playing these games for hundreds over 100 years”
Supporters of the Bill claim that "would never happen," except when Bills are poorly worded, someone - usually some blue haired libtard - will do EXACTLY that.
Maybe Firefighters can refuse to battle blazes when the temperature inside the fire gets above 80 or 85 degrees? Or Officers can refuse to fight crime when it gets too hot?

Tell BJ that this bill would force the city to buy cold weather gear for every city employee who works outside at all. And then cooling supplies as well. I think this is a great law. Lets do this. I need some new cold weather gear.

Not a comfort issue.
Not a work order.
Not a “we’ll get to it.”
Not a “put in a ticket.”
A documented, enforceable, safety‑compliance incident.
This bill doesn’t change behavior — it formalizes it.
Every complaint becomes a compliance incident.
Every incident becomes paperwork.
Every piece of paperwork becomes liability.
And every bit of liability becomes more work for HVAC, and facilities.It will be expensive for the state and another reason not to have an office in Illinois.

That’s actually the plan. Labor parties giving donations to candidates who are creating those union laborers demise. A party that willfully has regulated manufacturing to death, so it moves overseas, yet labor unions keep funding that same party. Now they are chipping away at the “service” jobs. Hiring illegal laborers and/or “robots” will be the next wave. It’s a push to move more and more people to welfare rolls and rely on the government. A dependent people is a controllable people.

For the firemen, becoming a human icicle is a right of passage. Any fireman that needlessly complains is considered a snowflake. I recall the winter of 1985, when it was minus 80 with the wind chill; the Red Cross arrived with their "canteen unit" to serve coffee and pound cake.
What is the percentage of the legislature has owned a business?? Not many, I guess. Probably similar to Obama's and Biden's 5-8%.
