John Dineen Passes

We're told former National Lodge President and FOP Lodge 7 President John Dineen passed yesterday, but can find almost no coverage.

He was a consequential man during a time a massive change and led the Lodges through various trial and tribulations. He is the reason for many of the Contractual protections currently in force.

He had his critics, too, and we're sure they'll be telling their side. He wasn't perfect, but he was better than a lot of what followed over the years.

I first met John Dineen when he was a detective in Area 4 Homicide at the old Maxwell st station. The FOP was a social club back then and more than one of the officers worked at Area 4. I saw the rise of the FOP. the Confederation of Police, the attempts of the teamsters to get in the door. Dineen held things together and had good sense and a good and smooth manner when dealing with the command staff. That is why the FOP won the run off election for representatives. I have always had a lot of respect for john.

I will never forget, the 2nd Bull's Championship "celebration", I was a sergeant in Englewood and had a team at the corner of 71st & Ashland tasked with protecting the local businesses from "celebrants". We quickly lost control of the intersection and were over-run by scores of the "celebrants". All of a sudden, three unmarked cars pulled up and twelve uniformed officers got out with batons swinging. The tide soon turned and the "celebrants" began to flee. It was only afterwards when I realized that they were being led by big John Dineen, who himself was an imposing figure standing at over six feet tall. Good times!

Dineen fed off his rep. He was one of the people the FBI brought in to "take over" Laboreers Union 1001. They were here 18 months and the local union was out $6 million in dues money. When I questioned Dineen afterwards at the Irish American Heritage Center, he admitted, "Yeah, the FBI was bad!"

A good man and person, not like the asshats today besides never doing police work, but are experts on defaulting on loans. Can’t wait to see JCat indicted.

John Dineen was a class act. And look what we have now. A complete narcissist whose big mouth, ego and false sense of being untouchable are finally catching up with him.

Didn’t vote for JRat as I was always brought up on this job to not trust a medical abuser. Never mind a “copper” (laughable) who put CR numbers on other officers, stalked ex love interests and has been the center of dozens of financial judgments, bankruptcy and questionable decision making since being elected by the braindead on the job.

Your false prophets days are numbered, kiddies. John loves to brag how October 1st came and went without him being indicted by the Feds. But anyone with any experience knows that’s not how they conduct business.

Totally. That light at the end of the tunnel? It ain’t sunlight and freedom. It’s the headlight on the Federal Locomotive bearing down on J-Cats little world. I wonder who already climbed aboard? Could it be Dennis the Treasurer? How about Backstababitch? He’s the weakest link, no doubt he grabbed himself a seat. Perhaps Holy Roller Rob jumped on for the pre-indictment ride. Wonder if he’ll use his substance abuse as an excuse. How about Springfield Coz? He’s been canoodling with dirty politicians on both sides of the aisle, doing John’s bidding. And what about the boys from the State FOP who abruptly abandoned ship? What did they tell the Feds? Don’t forget… J-Cat is (was?) the State FOP VP. If he was doing dirt here, it’s safe to assume he also had his hand in the downstate cookie jar. Gonna get real interesting from what the tea leaves are saying …

The 025th District couldn’t even do a proper AMC Death Notice for him. The title only read “Death: Retired Member”. No mention of his name on the AMC, no mention that he was former FOP President. Damn sham!

Friend called me about article on Dineen and the Bulls riot. Had just been made Sgt. and ended up in 006th District. Was given eight P.O.s, and we were put "afoot" at 79th and Ashland. At the start of the celebration/riot we tried to keep the traffic moving, but it was hopeless. L.T. pulls up and tells me to "get your people out of the street"! We retreat to the sidewalk in front of the huge 3 story corner building, and get buckets of water poured on us. (kid on second floor was astounding with his water balloons). Someone called a 10-1. Several brand new plainclothes 92 Chevrolet "whales" with large tape x's on all the side windows pull into the intersection from the NORTH, and Dineen and the entire Union Army pile out and the crowd settles down. Dineen walks over to me and I'm telling the 2 P.P.O.s that under no circumstances are they to enter the building and attempt to find our "attackers who got us wet"! Dineen looks at the two P.P.O.s and says "WE DON'T HAVE TIME FOR THIS SHIT!!!" One of his plainclothes crew says "boss, we gotta go to 87th now!" Oh yeah, he was there!

A time when Union protection came at fair and equal treatment. Today we protect those based on race with preference people have made errors in front of me and been given a blind eye meanwhile today we get behavioral accesses without just cause . Thanks for the start of something good John Deneen but ruined by bad very few bad impulsive actors who tend to be broken weak characters. You gave my grandfather the ultimate honors as one of big few plank owner of 100 club a honor burial ceremony godbless the Dineen family.
