A woman was shot while walking at one of the busiest intersections along the Magnificent Mile on Monday evening, the unintended victim of a gunman who was trying to shoot someone else nearby, Chicago police said.
The shooting happened around 9:27 p.m. in the first block of East Chicago Avenue, just west of Michigan Avenue, and set off a chain of events that left a man’s car riddled with bullets and caused a three-car collision along one of the city’s most heavily trafficked commercial strips.
Police said a 22-year-old man was driving a red sedan when someone in a white sedan pulled up and opened fire on his vehicle. The red sedan was struck multiple times, but the driver was not injured.
But a 25-year-old woman walking nearby was not as lucky. A bullet struck her in the left thigh, CPD said. She was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in fair condition.
Maybe Conehead can start a "Tour Chicago Emergency Rooms" type of tour?

We used to go to the Northwestern ER when responding to the gangbanger shootings from the “Green”. Of course they would disrupt the entire ER especially when the relatives would arrive demanding everything. When we would leave and walk through the ER waiting area we would see the “Gold Coasters” patiently awaiting to see a doctor. What they didn’t know was they were in for a long wait as more Cabrini clowns and their traveling show would be arriving to cause more disruption. The “Gold Coasters” would have been better off to drive to a suburban hospital.
More and more tourists get a real taste of Chicago Crime. Some get life long souvenirs and others are lucky to be alive.
If only she had Porkulous walking with her as a human shield. He has so much jelly I'm not sure he would even felt the bullet.
Its so helpful that we get color descriptions of the cars. Ill be on the lookout for the red and the white sedans.

Sorry for off topic; CTA has a problem. Part of the problem is the people not paying fair for service are committing crime. How long will CTA hold up with the riders not paying. A CTA bus driver said half the riders don’t pay. CTA has a policy where you give people rides who ask for them. How long will this work?

That er was horrible. Years ago, whilst I was waiting for burn treatment on my hand, they whisked me out of the waiting room to another office type room. They were worried for my safety. ER was filled with homeless and miscreants. I was, and remain, very grateful. Since then, northworsten anywhere is the absolute pits and filled with dei on steroids. It is very dangerous and in my experience, the truth fled years ago. Flee to any other hospital. Flee from any affiliated drs.

If nothing else, I do hope they've torn out the old Western Electric 500 dial phone downstairs to "call a taxi for free." Captive line to one company which we remember far too well. The drivers who responded were usually not in shape to even find a urinal for themselves, let alone anyone's destination.
