CWB Judge Article Part 2

CWB has their second article up about judicial retention. This one covers six judges including a few of our most disliked, untrusted and incompetent DEI types:

  • Every four years, Cook County voters cast ballots, deciding whether circuit court judges should be retained or not. It is rare for a sitting judge not to achieve the 60% retention threshold.

    Below are brief biographies, background information, and links to relevant cases involving Cook County judges up for retention during the current cycle who handle criminal matters in CWB Chicago’s coverage area. The first half of our list is available here.

They cover:

  • Robert Kuzas, a former CPD member who seems to have a number of fans in our comment section, but who is also politically connected as he was the one who cleared Prickwrinkle's son and has a disturbing habit of drastically reducing bail amounts so violent criminals get out to commit more crimes;
  • Teresa Molina-Gonzalez, a former prosecutor who said, "I can’t keep everybody in jail because the State’s Attorney wants me to" before releasing the repeat felon who lit a woman on fire on the Blue line;
  • and everyone's favorite incompetent DEI hire, Tyria Walton who released the woman who attempted to murder a CPD Officer with his own squad car, then accused CPD Officers of calling in threats to her without (A) filing a police report, (B) making a CR complaint with COPA, (C) notifying the Chief Judge or (D) notifying the Sheriff Protective Detail. In fact, the only notification she made regarding all of these "threats" was her campaign website.

Obviously, we're going to recommend against voting for a single judge, but go read the two linked articles up top and make your own decisions.

Take the five minutes to read everything and then spend the sixty seconds it takes to vote NO on at least a few of these incompetent assholes.

Not directly related, but the 46ward follies continue with blatant law breaking to add to the attempted hiding of the PPP loans.

Local blog has the scoop.

I knew Kuzas when he went in to private practice. The guy never called his clients back. Forgot he was to appear in court for hearings and then blamed the clients for mis communication? Then had the balls to ask clients to support him for the run for Judge…..even though he never lived in the area he was running for?

As a CPD member I never knew what kind of police he was? But as a lawyer I would warn anyone that he was an empty suit. Then one day I ran into him in court. It was like watching the blind leading the blind. And the States Attorney.and Clerk's would roll their eyes at what Kuzas would be ordering during the proceedings. As most officers just stood there watching how bad the court had become? If you’re stuck in his court room I feel sorry for you!

I voted NO on all judicial retentions when I filled out my mail in ballot. Pay special attention to the advisory questions on the back of both ballots. They're all about taking OUR money and making it THEIR money.

After all is said and done, it still escapes me WHY anyone would vote for judges or politicians who advocate for NO BAIL, NO JAIL. I do not understand, under what rational thought process, that releasing CRIMINALS back onto the streets was a GREAT IDEA. No matter the race, no matter the crime- just send them right back out to do it again and again and again. Vote NO!

Back in 2000 the fire engine we were working on was shot at as we returned from a fire. Shots went thru the cab windows. CPD located and arrested the shooter within 20 minutes. The States attorney was a kid fresh out of law school. He wanted to plead the case down to “drug school”…….NO prison time. We complained to our boss. Calls were made. At the next court appearance junior was replaced by a 3 member Special Prosecutor. The defense attorney launched into a series of continuances. We diligently made EVERY court appearance. If we were off duty, we were paid OT. If we were on duty, we were sent to court on “special duty.” At trial, the shooter was convicted based on our records and testimony. Judge BERTINA LAMPKIN handed down a sentence of 15 years, of which the shooter mandatorily served 12.

EVERYONE involved DID THEIR JOB.
CPD made a quick arrest and followed thru with all the court appearances.
City Hall, after our push, appointed the Special Prosecutor.
We made a dozen court appearances, INCLUDING sentencing.
And Judge LAMPKIN did the right thing back then.

With fire we knew what we were getting into. How the police deal with the element is beyond me. THANK YOU and God keep you safe.
Retirement is awesome.

Bob Kuzas was an 11th district P.O. He was the typic John Marshall law school student/copper and did nothing on the job then left with about 10yrs on.

I don’t begrudge him for leaving, however He has defended an awful lot of dope dealers in Westside thugs before he became the sergeant Association legal council.

Also, he was a Madigan appointee to a sub circuit on the west side. HMMMM, how’s the white guy get a judicial sub circuit in Austin somebody’s very wired up.

Back in the day when I was assigned to Area#1 Homicide, Bertina was in Felony Review. She was assigned to several of my requests for approval of either homicides or aggravated batteries. She was very consistent, professional, and thorough. I never had a problem with her. When she graduated into trying felony cases, she never changed. After every trail whether we won or lost, I would ask the trail States Attorneys if we could have done something different or better in our investigations. Bertina always took the time to go over our investigation, in-depth, step by step as to why we conducted our investigation the way we did. I learned a lot from these discussions with her. I have always said that she was one of the bests States Attorneys I dealt with in my time when I was in homicide. (1978 to 1986)

Executive session with the attorney Tom Mahoney to answer, introduce and/or clarify any new/any evidence after the internal investigation was completed and recommendations by the board were made. WTF but he appeared to have been cleared 1&2 with 3 questionable, but agreement was tighten up procedures and policies going forward. Attorney Tom Mahoney spoke, wanting to clear his reputation. Apologized for sloppy record keeping etc.

Lampkin was a decent judge, and was even married for a minute
to a 3rd district officer who had a penchant for western wear,
he was even called "Cowboy." But I had one drug case that made
me scratch my head about her. I executed a search warrant on
a dealer and caught him with 3 ounces of cocaine in his apt.
Judge Lampkin already had him on 18 months probation for
another drug case. When this case went before her, she simply
extended his probation from 18 to 24 months. That was BS.
But overall, she was a more than decent judge, but I always
wondered why she played that case the way she did.
