O'Neill-Burke Wins
- Eileen O'Neill Burke has defeated Clayton Harris III in the Democratic primary race for Cook County state's attorney, the Associated Press projected on Friday afternoon.
Harris conceded, so no recount and no further shenanigans.
This is a (sort of) additional kick in the teeth to Prickwrinkle. Her Machine (and the CTU) couldn't drag the real estate tax over the finish line and now, her hand-picked successor to Crimesha lost.
We say "sort of" because it's still a democrat in a deep blue county, so don't expect Fioretti to pull off any upset. And voter turn out was pathetic, though it will be higher with a presidential race to be decided.
But it's still fun to see.

I was just telling my family the same. When Alvarez was SA she said Prickwinkle would come into her office and speak to her like she was a subordinate instead of an elected head of a distinct function. So hopefully Burke won’t stand for that, but Tony controls the budget so she’ll do her best to still get her extreme liberal way.
I’m willing to give Burke a chance, she has the experience to be a good states attorney unlike Harris. Will see what happens in the future, only time will tell. Fioretti isn’t going to win and we all know that.

You may be omitting from you awareness the following:
1. Many in these communities benefit from the cash flowing in from the proceeds of their fellow community members' criminaliies.
2. More than a few of these criminals are bloodline connected to said theoretically non criminal members.
3. The few of these within the communities who are too visibly objecting to said criminalities get educated in the thug wayz to shut the fuck up.
4. The cash flowing between the communities' members, the communities' criminals and the politicals is immense.
5. The obvious increases in the outside of said communities being plundered by said communities' members offsets the slaughterings within the communities which, from the communities' point of view, is sufficiently thug slaughtering thug, with the acceptable, to the communities' members, occasional innocent bystander's slaughtering. Been there. I was lucky most of my career. Worked with good people, and had decent bosses. Some days you don't do it for "the job," you do it for the guy next to you.
That said, if you're young enough to leave, do it. A lot of places are desperate for coppers and are taking lateral transfers. Is the grass always greener? No, but let's face it; some guys would complain if you gave them a gold bar every day, because it's "too heavy." "Can't you just give me cash?" they'd whine. If you gave them cash some guys would still complain. "Can't you give me a check?" Then they'd complain about having to go to the bank to deposit it.
That aside, no other department is like CPD. I've worked at three different ones, CPD being my last. I'm glad to have worked at one of those departments before CPD, however. You can get away with a lot of shenanigans at CPD, as well as being a do-nothing, if that's your goal. Mediocrity is a win at CPD, or about any city job. And in fairness, in this policing environment, the choice to do nothing is sometimes the boldest choice of all.
If you're not young enough to leave, max out in deferred comp. Save as much as you can. Develop another career to move to once you leave. Have goals and meet those goals. What are your skill sets? Can you work with wood? Can you work with numbers? Are you a natural salesman? Hone that skill and make it work for you. If you need to go back to school, then do it. Investing in yourself is the best way to spend your money.
Staying at CPD, or anywhere, and being unhappy is going to kill you. Figure out your next move and work towards it.

If anyone doesn’t believe everything is about race, look how all the black wards that are besieged by violence voted, it was overwhelmingly for Harris. So, in my opinion, they deserve to live in misery, since they just couldn’t vote for the white candidate, who was way more qualified for that office, having worked in every aspect of the legal system, and campaigned on reigning in the out-of-control crime that terrorizes their communities, in favor of the black face who was going to ensure they endured more of the same.

ahhhh no, i have wasted many years voting with no changes in outcome, wake up and see what happens when any party changes, nothing changes that is the answer.

I love it here how people are bashing Burke after dealing with foxx for so long and with the possibility of Harris getting in. I remember Eileen back in the day as an ASA. It was toward the end of her career there but she was extremely sharp and treated the police politely and actually put alot into her cases and didn’t just blow them off. To this day, she is still liked by a lot of the old school states attorneys who worked and trained her. She’s running because she’s sick of the city of Chicago being a cesspool and the ASAs covering for criminals. Watch for her to hire back a lot of former cook county supervisors who left during foxx. Many won’t come back but some will. She won’t be hiring the social justice warrior ASAs that foxx has been hiring. I have no doubt she will hire competent people who actually want to become states attornies.
She will do better than the slug Foxx and her band of dipshits. Also, it should be noted that Harris was the Prickster's handpicked unqualified loser and that is important. In a small way the voting public stuck their middle finger to the goiter lady. Yes, a small win but non-the-less a victory against her pick. A small first step on a long journey.
