Be Aware

Be smart:

  • An off-duty police officer was carjacked in River North on Tuesday night. Another armed carjacking was reported less than an hour later in the West Loop. Chicago police have not made any arrests.

In River North, two men armed with handguns robbed a man in the 500 block of West Grand around 10 p.m., a CPD media statement said. They escaped in his red VW Jetta. The victim, who was not hurt, is an off-duty police officer, according to two sources, but we were unable to confirm which agency he works for.

Hopefully, everyone was taught this in the Academy:

  • if you carry your badge, carry your gun and be aware;
  • if you leave the gun at home, leave the badge and department ID there, too. Be smart

No need to make yourself a bigger target than necessary. Give up what you have to and get away with your life.

And if you carry your gun make sure you carry an extra 24 round 9mm Glock magazine on your side so you can kill every last one of the son-of-a-bitches.

Careful with that advice. There's a guy who posts here who thinks you should get into a shootout with anyone who pulls a gun on you for any reason. I think he pretends to be a detective up north, but he actually retired in 2012 and flies drones in the suburbs now. He also got an excessive force complaint when he was a sergeant, because some girl in a wheelchair didn't get out of the street fast enough. Either way though, he's better at fighting off robbers than any of you could ever hope to be. His military training has allowed him to be so aware of his surroundings that he has been repeatedly victimized by armed robbers. Let's see if he shows up again. Maybe he'll make another thinly veiled threat to beat someone's ass for saying words he doesn't like.

Just follow the basic rules: stay completely away from wherever THEY are at and you’ll probably always be okay. Wherever you see THEM at just leave immediately. If you think THEY might be near there don’t go there. That’s why I stay far away from Rosemont now on weekends.

Brandon Johnson and his 50 crackpot aldermen did this!!!

The Chicago Department of Public Health, or CDPH, reported today that the city has seen 41 measles cases so far this year, jumping by 10 cases, or nearly 32%, since data was posted the morning on March 27.

Chicago's measles cases stood at 31 the same day that the data was posted.

The city health department's measles dashboard also posted a new warning about possible public exposure on March 22 throughout the Southwest Side and a nearby suburb.

On March 22, there was a possibility of exposure on the Chicago Transit Authority's Orange Line trains; Pace Bus No. 379, which runs from Midway Airport to Orland Park; and the Walmart Supercenter at 7050 S. Cicero Ave. in Bedford Park, the dashboard shows. The CDPH releases public exposure locations when a list of exposed people cannot be obtained.

Chicago's health department suggests that people who were at a location listed should review their record of measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine with a health care provider or through the Illinois Department of Public Health's Vax Verify portal.

On March 26, the CDPH announced a new policy for the Pilsen shelter for asylum-seekers at 2241 S. Halsted St., where most of the cases were first reported. The department said the policy is meant to combat the growing outbreak among young children there and protect them from exposing others in the public to the measles virus.

DeSantis slams media bias over missing coverage of Chicago measles outbreak

“So there are 30+ cases of measles tied to an illegal immigrant shelter in Chicago but I haven’t seen the same news coverage about this as the < 10 cases in Florida last month….” wrote Tampa Bay Young Republicans President Brittany Jean on X.

“Gee, I wonder why,” DeSantis shot back.

During a Wednesday press conference in Orlando, the governor addressed the issue further, calling the news coverage “phony.”

“There was a school in South Florida like two months ago that had ten cases of measles, and the whole corporate media was acting like this thing that was this thing that was unique to Florida,” DeSantis said. “They smeared our Surgeon General for putting out very well-thought-out, balanced guidance.”

“Flash forward, there was no additional outbreak, so his response was correct,” he continued. “Now, you see 30 cases in Chicago with illegal aliens. I don’t hear the same carping from the media. In fact, they’re not talking about it really very much at all.”

“So it just goes to show you the phony narratives that get put out all to drive an agenda,” DeSantis stated.

“The fact of the matter is they kind of whip it up and then when things go a different direction than what they were predicting, they just forget that it ever happened and then they just move on,” the governor said. “You see even more cases in these other areas and you don’t hear the same type of carping and I wonder why that is

The City of Chicago has one of the highest measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccination rates in the nation, meaning that most children and adults in Chicago are vaccinated and protected

Trying to stop the panic I suppose.

If Chicago has one of the highest vaccination rates in the nation how come the state is number one in cases leading the national outbreak!?

Probably see a TB outbreak next started from some unlicensed street food vendor or illegals working for cash unscreened in restaurants and or hotels

Chicago measles outbreak fuels misinformation about migrants

(This asshole)

But Jacob Martin, public information coordinator for the CDPH, said new arrivals did not bring measles to the city.

"We can confidently say measles was already here," he told AFP on March 19, adding that the city is treating vaccination as "a requirement to be admitted to a shelter."

Outbreak timeline

The Indiana Department of Health confirmed a measles case in Lake County on February 23 (archived here). CDPH said the same day that the person sought care at three Chicago hospitals between February 11 and 16, when they were still contagious (archived here).

The agency confirmed the first case in a Chicagoan on March 6 -- the first in five years (archived here).

Two days later, CDPH announced the first measles case at the Halsted Street shelter for migrants in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood (archived here).

(But wait the CPHD said all migrants had to be vaccinated to go to the shelter’s so why are the shelters ground zero for the outbreaks?! No see the measles came from a gun show in Indiana /sarc)

Venezuelan Humanitarian Crisis Is Now a Regional Emergency, New Analysis Finds

“Our analysis exposes the widespread collapse of the public health infrastructure in Venezuela, which has been occurring for the past 7 to 8 years,” explains Shannon Doocy, PhD, one of the article’s lead authors and an associate professor in the Department of International Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

Key findings from the researchers’ analysis include

Infant mortality rose by 63 percent and maternal mortality more than doubled from 2012 to 2016.

Since 2016, outbreaks of measles and diphtheria have spread throughout the country and into neighboring countries.

From 2016 to 2017, the country had the largest rate of increase of malaria in the world, with the number of cases growing to 414,527.

Tuberculosis cases increased by 68 percent between 2014 and 2017.

Only about 10 percent of HIV patients are receiving their prescribed antiretroviral treatment.

There are widespread outages of birth control. Shortages have led to a black market where birth control bills cost 14 times the minimum monthly
Ninety-eight percent of physicians in Venezuela believe the health-care crisis was the worst in 30 years and nearly three quarters believe that working conditions in public hospitals violate physician ethics and human ...

24 years on and I’m done with that thinking of carry everywhere. U want my car then take it. Most of these robberies these guys are 2,3 or 4 deep and all have rifles or glocks with switches. For what?? My 5 year old car?? No thanks. You want the car go ahead. I’m not dying and abandoning my family for a car. I love all the young bucks who say that they hope one day they get robbed or carjacked.. insinuating that they will shoot it out with them and ultimately win. You know the kind.. less than 10 years on, tactical, does a bunch of shooting classes and stuff like that. This ain’t no shooting class. They are running up on you with guns already out and pointed at you. MAYBE you get one?? Then the rest get you. Unfortunatly that’s how it played out for Arianna Preston. She tried to shoot it out valiantly but was just outgunned and outnumbered. No matter how tactical you think you are, this isn’t a range, there is no beeper going off timing your draw and first shot and by the time you get your shirt lifted you’re dead. I’m not ok with being a victim of these savages but I’m also smart enough to know when I’m outgunned. I’ve been in two shootings in my career where I absolutely had a chance and had the advantage.. I run carjacking and robbery scenarios in my head a lot especially with how these guys come deep and armed and there is no way around it. Most tactical experts these days say the same, give it up under those circumstances, some of them for the average shooter are unwinnable. Taking only 1 or 2 is not a win because in the end you’re dead. Also, I don’t play police off duty anymore. If I see someone else getting robbed, I’ll be a witness, call 911 and attempt to get as much info as I can and maybe even attempt to follow the offenders safely for as long as I can. Otherwise, don’t be the police off duty unless it’s something dire happening to protect your own home.

I'll help you out with this one. The measles cases aren't people who are actual Chicago residents. They're people from third world shitholes who don't have high MMR vaccination rates. The CDC and CDPH are definitely full of shit, but actual legal residents of Chicago are pretty much all vaccinated with the MMR vaccine.

i would like to say that your the police, you should carry your gun always. But the sad reality is that if your CPD and not a gun nut dont even try to get into a gunfight. The department doesnt train officers to gun fight. They are trained to shoot the qualifier. And when you get on the streets, the cpd gun qunalifier is called a maintaince. They are even told to just put down pass or fail in you fop book. And most cpd officers shoot their guns at the annual firearm's qualification, Only a few actually practice with their gun. The department will not give you the tools to survive a gun fight. Lets look at the female officer that had the gun malfuction on the street in an active gun fight and could get her gun functioning until the battle was over and not to mention she didnt have a police radio handy to call for help. And this what we have to work with. If you carry off duty, learn how to gun fight, take a class, practice with your weapon. And try not get into a situation where there might be trouble.

Life in Chicongo. I guess that's where we're at now. If you get rolled up on by a street crew of 3-4 urban terrorists what's your response going to be? Better decide now...because being in the middle of that real crappy scenario is no time to come up with new tactics or to try new skills. If you're ok with getting robbed and not fighting back in a tough situation off-duty I can't blame you. Unfortunately, many of our coworkers will lay down even on-duty in uniform. Won't be long before we hear about on-duty CPD officers getting abducted...or their guns, wallets and squad car getting snatched away from them. We are turning into South Africa or Brazil.

So, based on only TWO examples that ended tragically for the officers who tried to defend themselves, you have decided to forego carrying a self defense tool that can be used to protect yourself, or other innocent lives? Do you think violent thugs follow some rule of ethics stating they will not harm their victim(s) if they do not resist? Do some research on the matter: a good place to start might be the "Ayoob Files" columns, which document in great detail how good people (LE and civilian) used personal weapons to resist and PREVAIL against armed assailants. Your comment sounds like a cop out because you doubt your own skills and abilities. Get some training and PRACTICE.

Lets get serious about guns and the cpd. This a department that is smoke and mirrors. Cpd is a department that couldnt decide on one weapon system. You walk into any roll call and you can see many different brands of guns. The snowflake theory of how each officer is different. And not lets talk about the cpd range training. They dont train po's to gun fight. your taught how to qualify with your wepon and only once a year. And try to practice at a department range or at the acadmey that is either down for repair or used for training or only open for hours at time. And all these people commenting on carry off duty. The real people who know how to handle their guns dont talk about. the best piece of advice mentioned on this posting if you cary a badge carry a gun. if you leave your gun at home, leave your badge at home. And try not to put yourself in harms way. In this day in age and espcially cook county your good deed could land you in prison.
