- What started as a student being sent home for smoking pot on a field trip turned into something much more serious at Association House of Chicago High School in Humboldt Park, officials say: the recovery of a stolen, loaded machine gun from the student’s locker.
Marquis Terry, 19, was sent home in an Uber for “disruptive behavior” during the field trip last Wednesday, March 20, a Chicago Police Department arrest report said. In a detention petition, prosecutors said he got caught smoking pot. That afternoon, the school’s principal searched Terry’s locker to see if he had any more pot stored there, the petition said.
Court records don’t say if the principal found any more pot. But inside a backpack in the locker, prosecutors alleged, the principal found a loaded .45-caliber Glock handgun equipped with an extended ammunition magazine and a switch, rendering it capable of generating automatic gunfire. CPD’s report said the weapon had been reported stolen from Henderson, Kentucky.

Woodman's attorney gave Feria's creepy Facebook videos to CPS attorneys. Several were of him drinking and bragging about how much tequila he drinks, one was of a heavy set woman rolling a bamboo stick on her bare floopy breasts, and one was of another woman standing naked on a toilet and urinating into a baday. CPS and Taft officials still have continued to employ the 1978 Kevyn Park alum Feria and he works at the Bricktown Target as well.

School officials reportedly never followed up with the family of the alleged victim and did not alert members of the community, even when Laney was allowed to accompany students to a track meet after the allegations surfaced.

CBS 2 Chicago reported on a child day care center at Robeson High School some time ago, this included 15% of Robeson's freshmen girls being pregnant. CPS and Robeson officials were asked how they separate minors from the 18-21 yr old Super Seniors that attend Robeson. No comment.

Rather, the schools merely have to possess a REASONABLE suspicion before they are allowed to search a student, their locker, or belongings.
Seeing the outline of a firearm in a bag will do it.

Wish I had known that when Brother Aloysius Irish McKickurass was slapping me for having smokes in my locker. On second thought, my protestations would have been answered by another slap. And if the old man found out, I would have gotten a kick in the ass, so I took the Saturday jug and kept my mouth shut. Somewhat akin to "random drug", back in the day we had "random locker". Even so, I am grateful. My Dad and Brother McKickurass kept me from becoming a hoodlum. Good times.

No. Lockers are school property and are subject to search at any time for any reason, or no reason at all. There's no burden of proof and no reasonable suspicion needed, because it's not an arrest/court situation. If the police get involved, that's when you can worry about reasonable suspicion and probable cause. If it ends up in court, that's when you can worry about burden of proof. Watching old episodes of Matlock and Saved by the Bell doesn't make you a lawyer. Please educate yourself. You can just start with any school handbook, where they'll almost always state that lockers are school property and subject to search at any time.
Old Joe is a product of Catholic school parochial education and I'll vouch for them nuns. They were truly on a mission from God compared to what passes foe education at the CPS by the CTU.
They worked for almost nothing to boot and never went on strike and I don't remember an active shooting drill or anything about gender identity or preferred pronouns or what pot even was.

The same laws about lockers and locks apply to schools and to the working corporate world. The school/company supplies the locker and the student/employee supplies the lock. Then the administration has to go through legal gymnastics to search the locker. If the company supplies the lock, then with reasonable cause they can search that locker. I was in corporate security and everytime we investigated an employee for misconduct we searched the lockers with a manager present and most of the time we found incriminating contraband.
