Although there may be a freedom of speech issue involved, allowing racist slurs would likely cause the end of this site.
And before anyone slams me (like the strangely silent sweetbabyray) just remember, some of your favorite Republicans loved to violate the Constitution.
Speakin' of Sweetbaby, where has he been? A post from a few days ago asked if myself or sweetbaby were at the weekend's festivities in Washington Park. The rain put a bit of damper on the day, but it was still a good time. I hear only a half dozen CR's were generated.
I think sweetbaby was unable to attend as he had a bunker meeting at the compound in Wyoming. Or was it Montana?
If the civilians are only here to make trouble with stupid and senseless post they should go somewhere else.
As for the CPD bosses they stand or not on their own records. Since the hiring and promotions have been reduced to a giant mess of affirmative action and political ass kissing this stuff is fair game.

CR number against whom? Based on what? We've posted disclaimers and have an open board. We've published nothing actionable. By all means, investigate. Hell, it's only taxpayer money they're wasting.

We didn't ask anyone NOT to express their opinions. We asked them to do it semi civilly AND keep it within nominally acceptable boundries. No one wins when the conversation degrades to "nigger this" and making fun of a man who's probably going to be in a wheelchair the rest of his life. That just shows the typist about as ignorant as the target of the criticism.
You wan't to swear, go ahead. You want to tell a boss he's a jagoff, no one is stopping you. But lay off of the guy who's never going to take a walk with his wife and kids again. And if you want to drop the N-bomb, there's plenty of sites around that welcome that. But why bring that kind of heat to this site? We're trying to keep conversation open and moving and above that garbage.
Guys in NYC got in big trouble for a site similar to this because it just turned into a really sloppy sewer hole of a site. The public DOES wander in on occassion, so why reinforce any stereotypes they might have about the CPD? Keep it above board, please. That's all.
And yes, we're a little old to be frightened by an open ended CR number like the one threatened. Not that we're looking for headaches, but we'd find a perverse sort of enjoyment being THAT First Amendment test case. When we win the case, we'll treat everyone to drinks and STILL have money left to buy a golf course or three.
Everyone thinks they can say whatever and be covered by the first amendment, this isn't and never has been true. Technically, this is SCC's site and he can make the rules of what is permitted or not. He is also right in saying we should never bash a fellow copper like Cmdr. Murphy, who, unlike most exempts, d it. He is further right is saying civilians are looking at this site and forming opinions about those of us who have to work and deal with them on a daily basis. If you were a civilian what would you think of the police after reading some of the B.S. on this site. Nest time you make a street stop, and they hate you, maybe this site could be a reason. Everyone should say what they think without using racial or ethnic epitaphs. If a C.R. or suit are obtained, all of our anonymity could be lost. We could be sued individually for slander or libel. It's great to say we'll own a golf course, but who's gonna pay the laywers.
I say let SCC make the rules, pray for Cmdr. Murphy, and lets keep the site instead of ruining it for ourselves..
