Alot of folks with clout on that list. A few I know and one female in particular, well, I don't see how she passed the patrolman's exam, let alone a promotional one. I know she is hooked up to some South Side aldermen though.

Brian Daly has been nothing but a gentleman in my experience- he even survived the two "J"'s after surviving 007!

Only 17 promotions from out of the Patrol Division out of 46 pormoted? Mr. Shakman, are u still here?
That being said, there are some excellent candidates. Brian Daly is a "COP" the real police, so is Norb Panek, Sue Moss, Paul Bauer, Tim Bickham, all good, as I'm sure are many others. There are some klunkers. But, let's be positive.
Who will be the firt to Exempt? How many days? That's right, days, not months.
Is it any wonder no one wants to be in patrol.
OK Paladin, are you saying that the list is 63% meritorious? Some people in units do work the street and and are legit promotions. Joe Gorman is a perfect example. He just sent Aaron Patterson home. That was a CPD case the G prosecuted. Its unfortunate for guys in patrol that he will be back in a unit of some kind pretty soon, but bosses want good people working for them. Someone has got to do the work. Besides, if I were a supervisor I'd get out of patrol as fast as I could. Who wants to deal with all the accountability crap Fat Phil has shoved down their throats. Lucy Moy-Bartosik is the opposite side of the story. 3 periods in patrol (012) after making Sgt and then off to labor Relations. Before that she was the CAPS detective in area 4, before that some bullshit job in 018. I'll puke if she shows up on my watch. I'm sure I won't be seeing her though. There's actual crime in my district. Oh well, she'll only only be doing a 90 day detail away from the puzzle palace anyway.

I am not trying to say that 63% of the promotions are meritorious. Nor am I trying to say that people promoted out of units will be bad lieutenants (not the contibuter to this blog). It just seems that the highest percentage of supervisors, Lt's and Sgt's are in PATROL! You would think that as a percentage of promotions, patrol would have the highest percentage. There are some great people on the list who work inside, there sre probably some bad ones who work in Patrol in District Law. But I am tired of hearing about how good this person or that person is. There are some great P.O.'s and Sgt's in patrol that work their asses off doing a good job and deserve to be promoted. As a percentage of poulation, Patrol is unfairly represented in the promotional process.
In stead of the Department saying how valuable the men and woman in patrol are, they ought to be honest and tell everyone to flee District Law as soon as posssible. I guess this is something we all already know, but it would be refreshing if City Hall and the Superintendent would come clean and admit that they think have no respect for patrol or the people who work Distrcit Law.
I agree with you that patrol is treated like crap. Every time some new order or directive comes down Districts carry 90% of the load. But not all units work inside. There are plenty of hard working p. o.'s in units. Don't confuse your dislike of clout with who works and who doesn't. I've been in and out of patrol. There are plenty of lazy people in everywhere.
You are correct sir! There are great people working in units, both at HQ and out in the street like SOS, OCD and TRU. There are also slugs in patrol. But it is statisticaly inconcievable that the smallest percentage of promotions come from the largest pool of eligible individuals.
I'll say agian, lot of great people on the Lt's list. I know quite a few Sgt's in patrol, who are as good or better than anyone on the list. I know a couple who submitted resumes and were told to make phone calls. They didn't have a phone call to make and they are not on the list.
Glad to see all the bosses' relatives, the homos and the lesbos on the list in addition to some well deserved promotions.

Deborah PASCUA is pretty hot in early 40's kind of way. Melissa STAPLES is good looking. ENGSTROM isn't bad looking either. Maybe it's time for men to make it to the top the old fashioned way. Ha Ha. Most good looking broads aren't interested in promotion. They get such good spots with sat/sun day of groups, 2nd watch, 5 or 6 hour days (max), that promotion would only screw up their social lives. No one to blame there but the male bosses who surround themselves with eye candy.
A lot of sergeants that ate ass all year are let down.......You know who you are!! keep up the ass eating, try to get better meybe a tongue extension will get ya the bars you never deserved.
As a female Lt., I'm highly embarrassed to see the likes of Evans, Lott, Moy, etc. on this list. Best bet is that all 3 were (no)merit appointments.

It's another slap in the face of the Patrol Division. From what I know (and I know), the merit slots went to UNITS again!!!
Gorman made it by test each time. He and Manos are so far superior to anyone on that list, it is almost a joke.

Gorman shot himself in the foot during the Bulls riots. They made him a specialist. He was in the second class of Merit Sgts. as a merit appointee.
Gorman was 18 out just so you know. Obviously you don't know him. He is a great guy. I know it's hard to believe but not everyone in units are merit suckholes.
If you want to mention merit start looking for a certain female in unit 193 who worked for Starks who left there to get street experience so she can get merit a dick spot or maybe even a Sgt. spot. Oh and by the way her brother just made Sgt. by merit. I guess it helps if your daddy worked with Starks.

Guys don't get mad but if you can't spot the merit on that list you are blind. Funny thing is for most it is the second bite at the apple. Just think about that when you need a TRR or advice about anything questionable.
They always include a few deserving candidates with the incompetent suckholes.

Why are merit sgts moved out of a specialized unit into a district then promoted 2 months later? To increase the percentage of promotions from patrol? How many LTS will move out of patrol after 90 days?

It's a shame, that, suck holes and ass kissers still get ahead on this job. However, it's been like that for decades and it will continue. They just are not interest in people that have done the job and know what they're talking about.
