Can anyone verify if the Dept. has changed the start times in 004 and 006? If so, have they answered the questions about taking your private vehicle to court at the end of the tour if working the midnights and will going to court in the morning be considered a continuation of your tour of duty, cutting the officer out of the automatic two hours of overtime? The FOP was supposedd to get these answers by change day or take legal action. What's up with that?

The problem with police officers is that statistically we don't vote and city hall and other politicians know this. We can't even get po's to vote for their union officials. City hall knows we barely get 50% (if that) of ballets returned for the fop election spots. Why should they give a flying f what we think or want. My suggestion is that the fop starts a huge campaign to register coppers and there families to vote and on election day provide buses to polling spots and maybe a big party afterwards at bourbon street.
Or how about at all these fop events we have a representative who might be a election official register people and explain the process and how important it is to vote. (they do it concerts, why can't we) This is the only way we as police officers are going to be heard. Just think we could possibly have a voting force of 20,000 + with family and police friends. I guarantee we wouldn't be ignored on issues that are important to us.

Is it true Rahm Emanuel pushed Huberman through to his position now? I thought he was an outsider? Yeah ok.....

Huberman was brought back here, I believe, by that female (I forget her name) who had R&D. So taken your anti-Semetic remarks and shove 'em, Nazi boys.

Why Bourbon St? The quickest way for north-siders to lose interest is when things turn south side. This dept. has traditionally run by south-siders (except during Byrne's administration). To us northsiders Daley and south-side mean the same thing.

Huberman is a Manchurian Candidate. He won't stop his career in Chicago - look for a homeland security position for that young man.

He sure is handsome too.

Looking for the story, I heard on the radio news this morning, that a general is saying we may be in Iraq until 2009!!!!

I guess that will put a damper on Bush's plans to invade Iran or Syria.

Why no press regarding "hate crime" in 022 early Sat. morning @103rd & Western. White kids get attacked by two black dudes for no apparent reason. They scream "White mother-F****** we dont live in no mansion, we kill whites" and beat them sensless and take cell phone and usc which was recovered from offenders. What charges you think?? Hate crime, robbery. No battery. If it was other way around Jesse/Meeks would be on a rampage.

Rumorville has it Cline will pull the plug in October. Is it voluntary or Involuntary? Make sense he will have exactly two years as Superintendant and the index crimes (i.e. homicides) are consistently rising rapidly. Why not leave or be asked to leave before it really hits the fan.

Latest stats released

On Friday, Cline also announced the latest monthly crime statistics. The number of murders through July was 267, compared with 265 for the same period last year.

To answer first comment frm 1146pm...I can confirm it I work in 004...the dept did not implement its pilot for 004/006. Why? who knows but the union had intended to grieve and the grievence would of been based on the cities agreement with the union that they would consult whenever implementing pilot programs for start time changes (not the 2 hours either way that is not the same thing)
Why do some people find it necessary to comment on things they have no knowledge of?
I think this is an awesome place for coppers to get things off their chest a great place for free speech without fear of any retaliation.Say what you got to say but please dont make us all look like idiots.

Damn Lefty, you ever look at a map? We have bases in Afghanistan, which happens to border Iran to the east. We've got bases in Iraq which borders Iran to the west and Syria to the east. Iran is surrounded and Syria has no where to go but the Mediterranian. Seems you lack "big picture thinking." The strategic picture is looking good.

I just went to foxnews.com to look for a video suggested by another member.(Go to foxnews.com and click on the upper right labeled video) I was surprised to see a video titled "Reverse discrimination" This is a perverse misuse of a word that already exists to express actions of one against another based on color of skin, etc. it's called "Discrimination" Not reverse discrimination. That word does not only apply to alleged minorities. To think that when discrimination happened to this "White" family, the press labled it "Reverse discrimination" as if discrimination only applies to minorities. Police are victims daily of discrimination (especially under the guise of affirmitave action.) If you were hired with a test score in the upper 90's and the individual next to you was hired at 70's-80's, haven't we in fact at that point been allegedly equalized. Why later in somes careers, does the department feel compelled to once again force some form of equality. When I have 10-15 years on the job and so does another officer, we both have the same job experiences and same opportunity to study for the same exam, why then does the department still say that if I scored better, it must be a racial thing and once again, the great gift of affirmative action tales place, scores are manipulated and the upper populace of the test must have had some unfair advantage. What!! We all get the same general orders, how bout studying instead of waiting for a gift of the 30% rule. How demoralizing to see that the person who scored a 70 and was hired the same day with you in the top of the class is now a supervisor after getting a lower score on the same promotion test. When does the equalization take place? I say that after hiring, however they manipulate the numbers, we ALL should have an equal chance at advancement. That will never be, how unfortunate for those who study and actualy try to suceed based on job knowledge. Who can answer this question, You need a heart transplant and two Doctors are available. Do you want the most skilled and knowledgeable (whatever their race or creed) or do you want someone who got the job because he was friends with another surgeon and whined about how unfair the MD test was and was placated with a gift of a top job.

No way Cline retires in October. How is his son ever going to make Lt.? His son will make Lt. next year around April or May and then get a command position around July. Maybe then Cline will retire. Maybe the son can be a street deputy with his eight? years on the job. Can't wait to see him handle a PO involved shooting.

Maybe it is about time that our The Fraternal Order of Politicians (FOP) get off their ass and started earning their keep and fight some of the promitional processes and the "merit" promotions...with all of the scandals going on with hiring and promotions in the city why doesn't one of these newspaper columnists look at the merit promotion list and really expose what is going on....not to say there aren't guys that deserve it...but the guys that deserve it should not have to stand with the likes that don't
