The story changes AGAIN!

Wow. We just posted earlier today about how the rush to prejudge is constantly screwing up and hampering investigations and putting reputations out on limbs, when we get a slum-times and we open it up and find this story. Meeks is saying that his bodyguards weren't out of their car and weren't even on the scene until 5 minutes later after he radioed for them.

We won't even touch the one about why "bodyguards" were five minutes away from their primary assignment, but doesn't this PERFECTLY illustrate our point about prejudging an incident before an investigation has been completed? PERFECTLY? If Frank and Fran are to be believed (which they shouldn't be as they carry water for the city administration on a daily basis), someone is changing their story. Seeing as how the sergeant remains on duty and not stripped, we tend to think it's the good reverend trying to protect his off duty guys who, as we stated a month ago, SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER THAN TO APPROACH A TRAFFIC STOP FROM BEHIND THE SERGEANT! Someone needs to investigate where these bodyguards were, when they were there and what the hell they did. Because it seems obvious it's their fault, more than anyone else's, that the sergeant is in hot water. What's really sad is they try to teach you the proper way to do police work in the academy, then hang you out to dry because they didn't teach you about the political considerations and the fact that there are "untouchable" people who think they're better than anyone else because they have the word "reverend" or "representative" in front of their names.

And thanks again to Frank and Fran for quoting the mayor saying "Racial profiling is unacceptable in any part of this country." You just had to throw that one out there to keep smearing the Department as a bunch of racists. Can someone point out to these two ignorant pinheads that there is, as yet, NO indication that racial profiling played any part in this traffic stop? Oh wait, we just did.

Until being contacted by the Sun-times and quoted in yesterday's newspapers, Rev. Meeks has been strangely quiet about his incident. I think he realizes he messed up and was told so by police members of his congregation, as well, as regular citizens.

It would be interesting to know if the bobyguards were "on the clock" in some district or unit at the time of this incident. My guess, if they were, slips have already been submitted.

In regards to the mayor, the people to blame are those who vote him in office. I always hear officers complaining about Daley, but no one ever admits voting for him. How did he get 78 per cent of the vote?

Lil' Richard didn't get my vote, that's for sure. As for the "bodyguards", you can bet that they were probably on the clock and when the s--t hit the fan, time due slips mysteriously appeared. I too, wonder who the f--- are you supposed to be guarding if you're 5 minutes away? And why does Meeks need bodyguards in the first place? Any mention of a CR # on these 2 goofs for (perhaps) failure to obey a direct order? CLTV stated that the Sgt "pulled rank" on these guys when they showed up. Unless Meeks was getting a beatdown, once they determined the stop was for traffic, I would have shut my mouth and got back in the car. Oh, wait a minute, I wouldn't have been working for that overblown windbag in the first place. What some coppers will do for money. Shame on them.

Friends of mine in 005 say that they have to assign cars, that's right cars and up to five officers to help direct traffic around Meek's new super church on some Sundays. 005 is very busy and short man power already. Why do we have to provide traffic control Where are the civilian traffic aides in their green vests? (Oh that's right they are terrible and almost hget people killed at every event they work. They are a tragedy waiting to happen. And almost all are minorities. But that is another story). Where are the private security.

How can a Sgt. pull rank. The rules and orders have always been very clear "on or off duty." If a supervisor gives a subordinate an order, the subordinate has to comply. He or she may not like it, but to refuse is insubordination. So, it was not a question of pulling rank, it was a matter of insubordination.

You need to watch how Daley's precinct captains and election judges bring in the votes once in a while. Being dead, missing or even non-existant never stoped ghosts from voting in Chicago. As many or more bogus votes are cast in many precincts than real ones. That's exactly why they fight requiring voters being required to produce valid identification. Don't you know about the Chicago, Vote Early, Vote Often program?

On a normal Chicago election day, any little helpers travel a route where they vote in as many as 50 precincts on election day. They need scorecards to keep up with their voter registration and polling place locations.

and the election judges help by acting as proxys for the registered voters that stay home.

Check out the really high voter turnout in the project areas where the voters are too often, strung out on drugs, in jail or are out stealing.

To Paladin....I personally believe those who refer to it as "pulling rank" are those who don't know how to and or refuse
to follow the chain of command.

Sometimes it's a bitter pill to swallow, but you still should respect the rank, no matter how they got it. To not do so will only cause more problems among us, as evidenced by this meeks mess.

Hey lefty

Are you out there on Sunday morning directing traffic? The State police refused, even though the x=pressway is backed up to Cottage.

Why is the meekster getting one sgt. and five cars to direct traffic? Were is the real media Lefty.

10-4. Anon. Even if u do not repsect the person (respect is earned not bestowed) in an organization like ours you have to respect the rank. U can always file a grievance later.

As a cop, I live in the 19th Ward. Rugai is our Alerwoman. Where is she at in all of these allegations against the police. Every time she runs for election I get literature with all these coppers names on who support her. They ask me to put her signs on my lawn. I don't. I supported Sommerville last time. But if all these cops are supporting her and live in her ward, why doesn't she support us. Why wasn't she on the news or in the paper saying we neeeded our contract settled? Why hasn't she come out in support of this Sgt. She was one of only 8 Aldermaen at the hearing with Meeks. Why doesn't she come out and say the police are great and doing a tough job. Sometimes we make mistakes, but every occupation does. They say doctors kill about 100,000 people a year through misdiadnoses etc.

It's not just the Mayor! It's his cronies too!

P.S. Sorry about spelling. Got to run.

Dear Paladin:

Didnt you count all the posters with the merit appointess all over the hood for GINGER..
Merit Sgts in Intelligence, 001,
SOS, the list goes on. The homosexuals from the Stadium club,
(the headquarters for and the home of the famous RUMP RANGERS)

Every political hack and the even the local priest. It is disgusting.

I voted for Sommerville, and I know of two coppers who removed his signs from their lawns after a p/o precinct captain/currently assigned to the labor unit, threatenend them and their relatives on the job.

The bitch Rugaui is suddenly going to resign and be replaced by one of the annoited from the ward, Hinze, Joyce, or one of the Sheehans as alderman.

Sommerville lost by three thousand votes we must get the vote out and
defeat the hacks from the 19th ward.

Hey Paladin,
I enjoyed you on "Have Gun, Will Travel." You are right about the 19th ward though. I knew a guy I thought was okay. he would bitch about the mayor and 19th Ward organization.

Then he helped run the alderman's annual golf outting. He was in the next sergeant's class. Look at the list of police on her letterhead when she runs for office. Then read the next promo list for detective or sergeant or above.

I am disappointed no alderman, be it north, south or any other place came out in support of the police in this incident. Let's remember that during the next election when they ask to place a lawn sign.

P/S Will the person who took my Nader sign please return it. The '08 run for the Oval Office is getting underway.

...alone and feeling helpless, he radios urgently for backup. The poor soul, having been put in his place, is beside himself with grief. He wonders, "When will they arrive?" Desperate now, hoping that assistance arrives before the villainous outlaw can complete his dastardly task, he clutches the only thing thought that can comfort him as time crawls by: "At least I'm still a senator.”

Good old FOP President (hah) Mark Donahue has to say:

"At a press conference today, August 17, 2005, Superintendent Philip Cline and Cook County State’s Attorney Dick Devine verified that two Chicago Police Officers have been indicted on the felony charge of Official Misconduct by a Cook County Grand Jury. Both Cline and Devine referred to these officers as having abused their power and having engaged in misconduct. It should be stressed however, that neither of these officers have been convicted of anything. They are to be assumed innocent. No member of this Department sanctions the type of activities that have been alleged, but for individuals in leadership positions in law enforcement to convict people in the press before they have had their day in court is irresponsible."

That all he has to say after all the stuff that is going on with Chicago Police Officers??

Sounds like Bill Nolan is back in that office sitting in Richies lap. How Disgusthing!!!!

Well, sweetbaby, glad to see ya coming around! I was just kiddin' about the desk job. You sound like a tact guy to me.

Anyway....
I hate to breach a sure subject, but here goes......

What with the officer indicted today asking, on separate occasions, for female motorists to expose their breasts. I can't believe he would as stupid as to ask one of the women to return the next night. That part sounds a bit odd to me.

Here's my point....
That incident occured last year, I think. We have the two officers indicted this week on the shoplifting stuff. The Gun teams are broken up and rumors abound about more indictments connected to Corey Flagg.

Devine is doin' all this at the same time. Think maybe he is considering a run for governor? Ummmm.

You don't actually think Meeks' church is the only place getting free on-duty police security, do you? Regardless of how short-handed some districts are, they have standard details at places that have nothing to do with the Department. What about the Jimbo's detail in 009? A two man uniformed car after every Sox game until the bar closes. Even day games. Who owns Jimbo's?

So shouldn't Devine and Midget Fuck Daley say THESE GUYS ARE THE PLIGHT OF SOCIETY AND THEY SHOULD HAVE NEVER BEEN HIRED BY THE CITY..... For all these buddies of his being INDICTED!

John Quarters Boylin or whatever the hell his name is,,,
When asked about him being hired by the City after being CONVICTED for stealing 2.5 MILLION DOLLARS from the TOLLWAY....

Daley said everyone deserves a fair shake and second chance.

What a piece of DOG POOP this Mayor is. I not only hope he gets indicted by gets raped daily (no pun intended) while he is in the joint!

But then again, he may like that!

I am still pissed that the Superintendent keeps commenting on this like he has already convicted the officers. What the hell happened to innocent until proven guilty? What is with the repeated ass kissing? Now he gets on the news again and says the "high ranking source" quoted in the paper the day before is misinformed. Why would you release any facts of the case before the investigation is completed? Boy how quickly he forgot where he came from. I actually liked him before this. Now I have lost all respect for him.

Obviously, the Jimbo's thing is rediculus. typical knee jerk reaction to an isolated incident, but 009 has always wasted man power on BS, like guarding the mayors mom for all those years. And everyone wonders how the gang problem got sout of hand in 009. I remember back when they used to say, oh no there are no gangs in 009. Funeral details are getting out of hand. I have no problem having a car help out at a cops funeral, but we're going to every reverend's, community member, activist, etc. funeral now. Not to mention evry gang bangers wake.

Lot of people in Mt. greenwood had Sommerville signs up. Many were taken down in middle of night, by???? Also, Sommerville's sife is black. Sommervillle and his wife and family seem like good decent folks, but supporters of another candidate used the race card to convince a lot of people not to vote for Sommerville. What about Garfield Rigge who is the Alderperson up there? How does he or she keep getting elected? What have they done for the police and firemen and city workers in their ward? Waht about Madigan? He has never ever done a thing for the Police. Why does he keep getting elected? What about the North side? Murphy and Brookins both seem pretty cool and both oppose Daley. Brookins has already had some problems with Daley. We need more like these 2.

Why is it necessary to mention in every Sun-Times article about the Meeks stop that he "just left Bible study" when the incident occurred? What in the hell does that have to do with a traffic stop? Everything has so obviously been slanted against this poor guy, there's no way he can get a fair shake. The thing that pisses me off the most about this type of incident is that the accused is always muzzled by News Affairs or the powers that be and told to "just ride it out." Meanwhile you're supposed to just sit there and let all the Monday morning quarterbacks in the media and political sellouts (Cline, etc.) completely dismantle your good name in order to protect some piece-of-dung politician or criminal. I've been skewered in the Trib, so I know how it feels. Yeah, I know it's part of the job...but can anyone give me a legitimate reason why we have to put up with it.
