This is a Test

We seem to be having blogger problems on this end. Posting will resume and this post might disappear if we figure out what the heck is going on. Comments are closed for this post.

UPDATE: Oooook. Now we are up again. Checking the meter stats, we had a dead area between 8 and 9 o'clock, which happens to be one of our highest traffic hours as everybody checks us out first thing in the morning. We have no idea what that was about.

Posts are now open - consider this an open post for the time being while we check things out.

Our nation's magnificent symbol, the Great Bald Eagle, has a nest on the far south end of 005 near the Little Calumet River. Keep a lid on this. We don't want the folks in nearby Altgeld Gardens going "bird hunting". Story in today's Sun-Times.

RETIREE CONCEALED CARRY UPDATE
(From FOP website past hour.)

At the urging of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Illinois Police Training and Standards Board voted today to begin processing the applications for Retiree Carry Concealed without the endorsement of the City of Chicago. This discussion has been in the works for about 2 weeks now and in spite of the efforts of some individuals who have gone off on their own and contacted the media and have sought other legal advice, the decision of the Training Board is the proper avenue to address the latest roadblock of the City. This is now the 3rd roadblock that has been overcome through the efforts of your F.O.P. working in conjunction with the Training Board to address all concerns. We have sought the patience of all of our members in allowing us to address their interests and we appreciate the patience most of you have shown. Working together is the way to resolve this latest issue and those that may come in the future.

The initial plan is to begin processing the applications that have been submitted after the first of the year. These applications will not need to be processed by the City and any future applications will be processed likewise. The total time element has not been outlined for the process but should not be significant. When the timeline is better identified, we will update this web site.

No one wants the police to be able to carry guns, but if you gave them the opportunity to do it they would sell their right nut. Well guess what, the 20year vet has proven that he can handle the responsibility and be happy because he may just save the life of you or some one you love. With loonies shooting up malls and schools, every cop and retiree should be required to carry off duty. If you want this privlidge, take the test (plenty of spots left) to work this dirty and often thankless job and stick with it for 20 years you worthless liberal piece of shit.

Why bother, retired guys in the past couldn't carry, so why start now. Self-protection? Average joe doesn't get to carry. If you need to carry move to a more gun friendly state.

Yeah lets become like Europe.... where groups of thugs took over Paris for two weeks. Maybe we are pussies without our guns, but we aren't pussies with'em (I guess we'll just leave you to speculate)...so thugs beware. And actulaay it isn't the gun carrying cops that have the complex, its assholes like you who think eveyone should be fistfighting eachother. I guess in your world, Mike Tyson should be president. You can call names all you want but if your punk ass comes-a-calling I'm gonna shove my pistol between your eyes.....bitch!

Yes, I could shoot at you from moving car, your dept. general orders prohibit you from returning fire! Maybe you could use your O.C. spray.....

FYI, the same order that says we're not to shoot at a moving vehicle says we're not to unreasonably endanger ourselves to comply with the order!

Hmmm, that sounds like if you're shooting at me, being in a moving car is not a "safe zone." Bang, you're dead!!

Hell, most of you cops can't shoot the paper man that doesn't move at the range. Hit a moving target, hah hah.

You're right about a lot of coppers not being good shots. But, to the asshole(s) who thinks shooting at a copper from a moving vehicle is safe, think again. G.O. or not, the first instinct when being shot at is to return fire. And most coppers have high capacity magazines.

So dickwads, go ahead, if you got the balls, but don't be shocked if you wind up talking to Tookie!
