A Program we Might Get Behind

Will Other City Officials Lose Police Guards? From our buddy Fran Spielman. Why do some of these people even need guards? Former Mayor Sawyer? C'mon now, Janie doesn't even rate one. And Laski gets four? Burke gets how many? What a waste of manpower, dollars and time. Just to stroke some egos. Let's end this BS right now - today even.

Little Richie would never do anything for Byrne. He as a pathological hatred for her. I don't if it's because of the rumours of her and his father, or if he holds her responsible for him loosing in the 3 way election to Harold. He has done a lot of bullshit things to people who supported Byrne, some of them are police families. It's no accident that 1st Deputy Riordan's name vanished off police headquarters when it moved.

You know, I understand the concept of the need for bodyguards due to psychos out there wanting to kill a political person because their dog told them to do it and I agree with the need.

What I don't agree with is members of the Chicago Police being assigned to these honchos. You need a bodyguard pay for it yourself out of the millions you are stealing from the coffers.

Hell, I think Terry Peterson, CHA President, still has two CPD bodyguards around the clock. Why are we protecting his ass? The Department is making the rest of us do more with less resources because "there is no money". Another example of pissing away the funds. The Department is starting to demand payment for our services for high profile events so why are we just blindly paying for these egotistical politicians to say "I have bodyguards"?

Sun-Times Speilman's story about bodyguards is interesting. I just wonder if it was a plant to her as usual by cityhall. That way it difuses inquiries about the real number of bodyguards. There was a team of bodyguard that use to drive the mayors late mother around. What about Jessie Jacksons bodyguards? Surely there are more people with police bodyguards other than those the administration owns up to. How many of you know po's that are assigned to a unit, detailed somewhere else and still detailed again? Come on guys and gals, lets tell the real scoop on bodyguards.

No bodyguards for anyone. If the mayor needs protection, let him be surrounded by his hot shot appointed police captains who should be required to serve a tour of duty each week for free, for the thank you of their bloated salaries and pension. The taxpayers should not be required to pay for these coat holders and door openers.
Stroger has Cook County Sheriff's Police for his bodyguards, again, we are paying for this fat asshole to have his butt wiped.
If Daley needs a driver, let his press secretary drive his ass all around town. Bobody would even notice him, he always cowers in the back seat anyway.

'CHOCOLATE CITY' SPRINKLED WITH NUTS
By Ann Coulter Wed Jan 18, 8:11 PM ET

So Hillary Clinton thinks the House of Representatives is being "run like a plantation." And, she added, "you know what I'm talking about." First of all: Think about what a weird coincidence it is that Hillary would have made these remarks in a black church in Harlem on Martin Luther King Day. What are the odds? Did she even know it was a holiday? Bravely spoken, Senator. I haven't been this surprised since finding out Hollywood likes a movie about gay cowboys.

As Hillary explained, the House "has been run in a way so that nobody with a contrary view has had a chance to present legislation, to make an argument, to be heard."Yes, that's what was really missing on plantations during the slavery era: the opportunity to present a contrary view. Gosh, if only the slaves had been allowed to call for cloture votes. What a difference that would have made!
Madam Hillary also said the Bush administration "will go down in history as one of the worst that has ever governed our country." While Hillary is certainly qualified to comment on what the all-time worst presidential administrations were, having had firsthand experience in one of them, I think she might want to avoid the phrase "go down in history."

All I can say is: It's a good thing we had a stealth candidate like Harriet Miers to tiptoe past these powerful, scary Democrats! Sorry if that sounds churlish, but after Judge Samuel Alito's magnificent performance last week, I think Republicans can stop being afraid of their shadows when it comes to our judicial nominees.Ever since Bork, Republicans have been terrified of nominating candidates with something in their background that might possibly suggest the nominee did not get down on his knees (another phrase Hillary should avoid) and thank God for Roe v. Wade every night. That's how we ended up with mediocrities like David Hackett Souter and Anthony "Third Choice" Kennedy on the Supreme Court.
Besides being stunningly qualified, the characteristics of the current stellar Supreme Court nominee include these:
His mother immediately told the press, "Of course he's against abortion."
He had expressed support for the Reagan administration's positions on abortion in a 1985 memo.
He refused to accede to the Democrats' endless browbeating and tell them that Roe was "settled law."And the Democrats couldn't lay a finger on him.
Sam Alito marks the final purging of the Bork experience. All the Democrats could do was scream about his inactive membership -- back in the '70s -- in CAP, Concerned Alumni of Princeton, which had a magazine called Prospect, which once ran an article, apparently satirical, complaining about Princeton admitting co-eds. In my mind, the only potentially disqualifying aspect of Alito's record was that he wasn't a more active member of CAP, a group opposed to quotas, set-asides and the lowering of academic standards at Princeton.
Then this week, we found out Sen. Teddy Kennedy still belongs to an organization that doesn't admit women. Oh -- also, he killed a girl.
I'm fairly certain I've mentioned that before -- I don't recall, Mr. Chairman -- but I don't understand why everyone doesn't mention it every time Senator Drunkennedy has the audacity to talk about how "troubled" and "concerned" he is about this or that nominee. I bet Mary Jo was "troubled" and "concerned" about the senator leaving her in trapped in a car under water while he went back to the hotel to create an alibi. It's not as if Democrats can say: OK, OK! The man paid a price! Let it go! He didn't pay a price. The Kopechne family paid a price. Kennedy weaved away scot-free.

But the Democrats are "troubled" about Sam Alito's membership in Concerned Alumni of Princeton 30 years ago. If they're "concerned" about lifetime appointments for people with memberships in "troubling" organizations, wait until they hear about Bob Byrd! (Former Kleagle, Ku Klux Klan.)They're a rotten bunch, these Democrats, and I'm happy to see an end to their reign of terror.

Now that Zell Miller is out of office, the only office-holding Democrat I like anymore is Ray Nagin, mayor of New Orleans. I had never heard of him until Hurricane Katrina, but after his "gaffe" this week, he's my favorite Democrat. I like a politician who casually spouts off insanely politically incorrect remarks in front of large audiences and TV cameras. Nagin cheerfully told a crowd gathered for a Martin Luther King Day celebration that New Orleans would soon be "Chocolate City" again. I don't know who's supposed to be offended by that. I'm not. Perhaps all the white mayors who know they couldn't have said it. True, life's unfair. Oh well. When it comes to choice-of-word crimes, I'd prefer detente to mutually assured destruction. Lead us off the chocolate plantation, Mayor Nagin!

I don't mind the governor having a bodyguard detail, there's enough people who are whacko enough to try to do something to him.

But how well can they guard Blago if they're carrying groceries? They should have their hands free and their attention on protection, not emptying the trunk of the car.

In the 9th District they have a "dignitary" car (906 i believe) on all three watches whose only job is to check on a list of houses front and back AT LEAST 3x each tour. They actually have a humper with the names and addresses to check. Everyone from the daleys to the alderman and even a judge becuse she received a threatnig e-mail 6 months ago after she set bond in the UIC murder too low. Oh yea, she lives across from the daleys. Body guards. That barely touches on the scams that this job includes. Look at how many beats there are in the city. Add up all the tact and gang teams, rapid response cars. Add up all the special units. Add up the dicks (the ones that actually show up and do work, that's not a whole lot of people). Add up the bosses and give them some staff. What do you have missing. Thousands. I mean thousands of coppers. Every time I have to go to 35th I'm amazed at how many people are hiding down there. What they're doing is beyond me, but I know it isn't police work. Take a look at the front offices in the district, CAPS, all these other special units (that includes you narcotics). Some of these ridiculous court sgt positions. Whole lot of Sgts at 35th st, you know those real smart test takers. The CPD could use the GAO (that's the government accounting office) to come in and audit us. I know I'm missing a lot of other stuff. I know we have thousand of POs, detectives and Sgts/Lts missing in actions. Then we can talk about Medical/IOD abusers. If you work in a district or you're one of our working detectives and you feel alone on saturday nights in July while working just remember you have thousands of your fellow officers sitting at home or somewhere else who don't have a clue as to what police work is.
Sorry I probably sound like I'm whining. I still love this job. Only on the CPD could you see this stuff year after year after year.

OK, seriously? I'd make sure everyone that wasn't already in the patrol division was detailed to a beat car for a period once a year. Specialized units, detectives, everyone....no one would be exempt except maybe the exempts themselves.

Maybe if some of those who are out of patrol got a taste of it every year, they wouldn't act so high and mighty and would remember who makes up the backbone of the department.

Then I'd want to meet all the cute reporters!!

Lets not forget about all the wasted gas on these frickin politicians. The coppers get there own unmarked cars take home. How about Fran Speilman writing a column on the hacks at 35th St, Homan square and the new organized crime detectives(patrolmen 100 with clout) with new take home cars. These morons make it on phone calls, work for merit sargeants, cant make it on the sgts or dicks list, therefore fatass gives them an new unmarked cars, when I send out my tac guys in high mileage beaters which any other dept would retire. Its frustrating to see my neighbor the scab organized crime patrolman(play detective) drop his children off at our parish school in the new unmarked police car, then I drive my beater by choice to the west side(luv workin west), the only side, but my veteran guys will always be tac guys because they dont suck or swallow dept JIZZ. How about these units that do not work eight hour days, who go to the health clubs on city dime?

Mayor's detail has some one on it that shot a passer-by's eye out during a foot chase. After a city pay out of ten million dollars, they are protecting the Mayor. I think it a great choice, if something does jump off, Dick will get hit by his own bodyguards. Sorry, but he needs protection from the people who are protecting him. And they are cocksuckers, one barked orders at me once at a detail and looked at her star, it had Patrolman on it and she was told to go fuck herself. Don't care who you are, you have a bug up your ass because you think your important, remember. Patrolman you are, more lucky then anything.

First of all what are "new organized crime detectives(patrolmen 100 with clout)"?

Second, your veteran guys who will always be tact guys? The average tact has about 3 years on the job.

Finally, you're beefing about guys working out on company time? Do you run the only 8 for 8 tact team in this city? They might duck and weave in units, but they're not right there in the district doing it front of their co-workers. Of course tact guys don't consider boys in blue their co-workers.

I'v e worked Tact for the last 7 years and moast tact guys arent the assholes you portray them to be. Believe me it isnt the sweat gig it used to be yes there are still some nice perks. The watches dont get shit from the commander he knows he cant make the midnight guys do anything but he can detail his tact team there just by changing there hours. yes we make alot of pimpy arrests, Every new boss will tell you he doesnt care about numbers were going to work the problem areas and do good work. until they get there ass handed to them at a DOC meeting about the number of arrests and contact cards. We handle whatever bullshit has the commander and tact LT. balls in the ringer each day. are some of the guys clout jagoffs yes but fewer than you think there are so many better places to hide now. 90% of us know we have it pretty good and get along with and respect the guys on the watches. one fuck up we will be right back there. dont try and cause a divide on the job between the watches and the tact teams were all in this toghether. O.K. YOU guys and gals need to read 10:30s blog again. Let your imagination go a little. Think about what he's saying- If your the average Tact guy in 16 or even the notorious bt 1632 or even the entire 9th district your responsible for an area. You are held accountable to the 911 system. Yes even tact and gang guys have to attest to the 911 system. If shit happens on your beat, sector, district your white shirts have to account for it. That W.C. has to do a bunch of stupid reports (jump in here supervisors). Someone at the area has to come out on shootings now (hell, half of the A4 V.C. come out on anything in A4). 10:30s talking about the thousands (that's 4 numberals) who are not held accountable for shit. Someone do that math he was talking about. Come on. I know we have an accountant out there somewhere. Do that math. I know you can do it. Where are these thousands of POs at. What are they doing (we can only guess). Inquiring minds want to know how many there are (and you know damn well there not old timers who've put their time in).
