Sorry about the light posting. Running a low grade illness here and we're not the only ones. We're going to be posting early and late for the next couple of days, so we apologize in advance if that doesn't suit everyone's schedule. Days are just difficult to get to a computer right now. Feel free to use the posts as open threads (as everyone usually does). We are now surfing for postable material.

Any word on the screwed up Sgt.'s checks? Nobody even answers the phones now. Nothing on the PBPA website.
The new president of the sergeant's association sent out a mass mailing about it. Basically, if you were overpaid, it will be deducted from your next two quarterly checks. If you were one of the very few who were underpaid, or not paid at all, they'll settle up by the end of the month.
Mike takes over on the 19th and I'll bet there will be more frequent updates on the website after that.

God, guns and rockin roll????? More hill-billy garbage. Abolish those semi-auto assault weapons. They really serve no purpose. A regular rifle works fine. A bolt action 5 shot rifle can do what most people need. 20 or 30 shot weapons? Just cause they're fun. They are not truly needed.

Hey payroll, where the hell is our checkstubs. Everyone should check their paychecks. Finance has no idea whose in charge down there, what your raise will be or when it will come. Called finance, wheres my checkstub, they dont know. Called fop, they said call supt's office. Supt's office said dont call here, call payroll. They say there is a software problem and have no idea when it will be fixed.
Everybody better pay close attention to your checks before we all get screwed. If you think your pay is wrong, start calling finance and demand answers. Next is the newspapers, maybe fran can find our money?
If your on direct deposit, watch out. Nobody knows what your suppose to get. Call 312-745-6158 per fop. and demand an answer!
Speaking of Prieto, heres a story you might like. A few weeks ago, two coppers are assigned to a "man with a knife call". When they arrive on the scene, they are met by the complainant who tells them that his "friend' is in their apartment with a knife and he's acting irrational. They go up into the apartment and start searching for the guy. While they are doing this, they hear noises coming from the bathroom. They discover that the door to the bathroom is locked but they can hear a man inside screaming. He refuses to open the door so they boot it and find the "friend" stabbing himself repeatedly with a knife in his torso. They disarm him, render first aid and call for EMS who come and take him to the hospital.Deputy Prieto arrives and after assessing the situation, goes into the W/C's office and tells him to get a CR# on the two coppers for booting the door and failing to call for HBT. He then goes to the hospital and tells the copper thats handling the paper to "go get one of those mittusmis things' even though the "friend" is not under arrest, he's there for treatment only.So instead of getting them a Lifesaving Award which they deserve, he wants them to take a couple of days. Go figure. Only in Chicago!
Obviously Prieto hadn't bothered to find out what had really happened before forming his opinion. Just goes to show how some of the bosses on this job tend to always thing that whatever the hell a PO does that he is wrong.
