Welcome NYPD

Someone (we know who, but he prefers anonymity) posted a few links over at the NYPD Rant bulletin board and we've been getting a few dozen visitors from New York here. We've also noticed people posting the link back to their board. It's good to see coppers reaching out across the country and exchanging pleasantries.

So, to NYPD people looking around, welcome! Feel free to visit some of the CPD links on the right side and post in the comments sections. We're sure we have a lot to talk about.

I'm lucky enough to have a job where I have dealt with the NYPD on several occasions, both professionally and personally. They have been studs to the last man/ women. Same goes for the LAPD. Be safe my brothers and sisters. Keep the faith.

Ed "the Polecat",, NYPD.

Some of our CPD guys are aware of the fact that you are currently in litigation vs. the City of New York re: your violated First Amendment rights in having the "audacity" to merely giving your NYPD brethren a forum for TRUTHFUL accounts of matters of public concern.

Unlike your "NYPD RANT", we don't have spell check and we still use uncensored profanity at times.

May God bless you with reinstatement plus. Our prayers are with Mrs. "Polecat" for a speedy recovery.

I really prefer your format for "NYPD RANT" over this relatively new Second City Cop (SCC) blog site.

If visiting Chi-Town, any NYPD, active or retired, should check in with your CPD brethren. I know I speak for many, perhaps most, that it would be our honor and privilege to welcome MOS of the SECOND greatest PD on the planet. However, as you well know, we occasionally come upon an asshole, particularly among bosses and politicians.

For the benefit of both CPD and NYPD readers, I provide the following elementary translations (CPD/NYPD):

P.O. = MOS (Member of Service)

10-1 = 10-13

mutt = mutt or skell

You can contact your anonymous CPD counterpart, the SCC moderator(s) at:
spinynorm1@aol.com

As you can certainly understand from your ordeal, due to certain First Amendment retaliation from the City of Chicago, both the anonymous SCC moderator(s) and the overwhelming majority of CPD bloggers prefer to remain "anonymous".

You've got huge cojones, Polecat.

Again, God bless you and the missus!

P.S.: Polecat and NYPD guys

Based on the last blog, you can see that we have our assholes. It may well be an anonymous "boss" just trying to instigate shit and provoke real coppers everywhere. "If you have nothing good to say (about the NYPD), why doesn't the last "anonymous" blogger just STFU.

Be it an extradition or pleasure, I've visited with big-city coppers throughout the nation and the NYPD are the most cordial and hospitable, bar none.

Again, a hearty welcome aboard to NYPD MOS, active and retired.

qqWhen NYPD guys look at this blog they must think "what a bunch of cry babys" Just so you know NYPD the guys that cry and sob all over this blog are a minority. Most of CPD guys are hard working, do their job and don't complain about every little, stupid thing. Stay safe in NY and say hi to Dennis Farina when you see him, he is one of ours.

Thank you, sir.

Whenever you get thousands of coppers on the job (CPD or NYPD), we always have a few jagoffs.

I'm getting eMail from NYPD MOS.
While my CPD contemporaries hung out at saloons like Mike's on Webster and the Slammer, one mentioned leaving an NYPD patch at the since closed Ira's on Madison St.

ATTN: NYPD

While I'm no longer a regular, a popular "cop bar" is Dugan's, 128 S. Halsted St., less than a mile due west of the Loop.

Check in during future visits. Also avoid most of the West and South Sides. I would compare such an unwise move with me driving around in the South Bronx, Brownsville and East New York (the 7-3 and the 7-5 pcts. in Brooklyn).

P.S.: I have only one CPD shoulder patch left. I'm mailing it to "19pct" aka "The Billionaire's Ghetto" (Upper East Side).

Also, the last poster mentioned Chicago's own Dennis Farina ("Det. Joe Montana" in NBC's "Law and Order") formerly one of our very best detectives (I'm sure he'd be thrilled to merit an honorary gold shield). Knowing Dennis, he is definitely a great guy you can count on for PBA benefits, etc. as his time permits.

Feel Free to post at SCC with your NYPD handle. Our respective blog sites could definitely "be the start of a great relationship." We have so much in common to share--a wealth of information to our mutual benefit.

Funny I seem to see many many NYPD guys at the southside Irish parade and the bars out south every year partying. Everyone out here lets them in and feeds em gives em drinks. You must be a Northside cock breathe lamo. NYPD most of our southside is awesome and you are welcome, the northside is a good place to get laid if you like men!

Kindly specify Mt. Greenwood on the FAR SouthWEST Side.

H.R. 218 notwithstanding, most of the South and West Sides of Chicago could place our NYPD brethren in harm's way and none of us need the grief.

Also, not that there's anything wrong with that, despite "Boystown" (023), there are loads of lovely heterosexual hotties on the North Side.

I will concede that the SW Side babes you encounter in cop bars out near the west end of 008 and 022 are more "down to earth" and less inclined to be Starbuck's latte fans.

FYI, the NYPD counterpart pct. to Dist. 023 is the 6th Pct. aka "Fort Swish".

Is there a New York cop out there with info on the Daniel Enchautegui murder case?

If so, I and others were wondering the extent of the injuries to that piece of shit Lillo Brancato. Is he going to fully recover, or is he going to be a cripple? Also, how does the case look against him under New York law in regard to felony murder?

I heard his lawyer making a point that Brancato did not know his partner had a gun. Does that matter under New York law? I hope not, as I would like to see him rot in prison.

I, for one can verify that CPD is the greatest. Another cop and myself came to Chi in 1995 to extradite a suspect back to Tn. My partner and I went to Pat Haran's for a night on the town and eventually met some plainclothes guys that were the best. We became friends and for several years did some roadtrips. We did Memphis, Nashville, Cleveland and Pigeon Forge several times. I made numerous trips to Chi for a quick weekend trip. Always a riot.

Always had the best of times in Ira's Bar. Ira has my patch in his collection. Always liked to be there on Thurs night when the Pipers came in.

CPD always made me feel welcomed. Me being a small town cop from Tn didn't matter to you guys. That meant a lot to me.

Chi coppers do have "big shoulders".

To TN cop,
Iras is now closed, Ira and Joyce retired. The place is really missed....

Now most go to Dugans if downtown, various places southwest, Lawlors is one, numerous places in Mt. Greenwood and a place called The Newark Nook if you are far Northwest....

The REAL police understand one thing, if your a sworn member no matter if your from a big time city or from the back roads of Vermont, you as a copper should treat each other with the respect and dignity each other deserves..
On the street in passing or on a blog! Unfortunately, this is not always the case, a copper is just as fast at putting a knife in your back just like the bad guy and this is very sad that shit happens between us on this department. So, all out side department's WELCOME!! and for you wanna be SWAT secret squarl, go to 5, have a police scanner next to your bed mother fuckers, go fuck yourself! Remember NYPD had two fucking buildings come down in 2001, which on that day this whole fucking country knew who the real police were...

The Southside Irish parade isnt in Mt. Greenwood, we may be Irish Hillbillies, but were Beverly/Morgan Park hillbillies.

The NYPD guys have always been gentlemen, are welcomed at all of the house parties, and they are a BIG hit with the colleens, as well as by all the bars on Western Ave. God bless the NYPD. Hope to see you at the best parade in Chicago.

If you go to the NYPD website is has some interesting stuff. According to their website all detectives are made meritoriously. Of course they probably really promote on merit. As in "officer have you ever made a felony arrest before?". Unlike Chicago's merit where it's "who's your china man?". Or lets see how you did on the scenario test that only the high ranking honest white shirts made up and know the answers to. Also the NYPD are real receptive (go out of their way to get military vets) to memebers of the military. On chicago we're real receptive to boss's kids (and select minorities).

1/16/2006 02:50:00 PM

Don't forget we're also receptive to the friends of bosses kids.

NYPD here; I visited Chitown and went to the Irish parade up on Western street. Had some pints at "Dugan's" and had a great time with all of you guys. I saw some picutres that a red head guy was carrying with him. All kind of guns and drugs in those pictures. He said it was all in a week of work. That's pretty hardcore!

Hey NYPD guy, don't get impressed by that "Redheaded" guy. He can't and shouldn't take the credit for those recoveries. The other guys who he worked with are the humble ones and the real police. He is just an idiot.

I've been in contact with members of the NYPD who have recommended a couple of Web sites that you guys may find interesting. The first one includes radio transmissions (including 9-11 at Ground Zero) between "Central" (the zone operator and the RMPs (Radio Motor Patrol or marked squad cars) in the NYPD's seventy-six precincts numbered intermittently from 1 to 123. Three pcts. in Manhattan are NOT numbered: MTS (MidTown South), MTN (MidTownNorth) and CPP (Central Park Pct.)Like the CPD, a radio zone usually covers two precincts. The dispatcher is referred to as "Central" and radio acknowledgements (10-4) are simply "kay" as in "O.K.". A "10-13" is our "10-1" For an example, when you listen to audio transmissions on a "robbery-in-progress" in the 7-3 Pct. (Brownsville in Brooklyn), it may sound like this:

Central: "Seven-Three Charlie?"

73C: "Seven-Three Charlie, kay?" kay?

Central: "Seven-Three Charlie, attention units on City-Wide, we have a 10-30 (robbery-in-progress) on the corner of Eastern Parkway and Rockaway, one black male in a purple jumpsuit with a pistol. Kay?"

73C: Kay, Central...on the way!

Turn on your audio and click on NYPDRADIO

MOS is a Member of Service or a P.O. while "bus" may refer to an ambulance.

1/16/2006 07:04:26 PM<<

I listened to that clusterf*** tape of the terminated chase and can say with a great deal of certainty that I think Chicago has a comparativvely good deal in the dispatcher market. How many times can a squad tell people getting shot at to stay off the air b/c she only wants to talk to the boss?

Not to mention, my Englewood friend, that this (among the worst incidents imaginable) sounds like daily summer radio chaos that one hears on zone 6.

Conclusion: On the one hand, listen to that tape, hear 50 voices talking over each other, and imagine trying to work 20 years as a police dispatcher without developing cancer or a heart condition. On the other hand, listen to that tape and realize that you (yes YOU, EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU) have heard better.

We have some who would do worse, but Chicago definitely has a few who would tell the bosses, and not the POs getting shot at, to stay off the air.

God help the NYPD if they have to deal with that daily.
