A big congratulations goes out to the Superintendent and the entire Chicago Police Department. As of last night, there have only been 5 murders for the year 2006. If we extrapolate out those numbers over the course of the year, the murder tally for 2006 will be 130.4 homicides.

Take a look at the pay rate for a sergeant on the exam announcement.. The sergeant's contract has not been approved yet. There is no 3% raise coming.
homicides will be going way up, there are power struggles currently evolving in different factions of the cities street gangs , which by the way is a direct result of the dismantling of public housing and putting the former residents into the neighborhoods already teaming with gang/drug problems.... watch the skies!

The 23rd District has had its lock up closed for almost a yr now. With this new automated Arrest System in full effect, the powers that be did not iwre up the 23rd District for this. Now all 23rd Dist cara have to take their arrestee's to 019 for arresdt processing anf the 019 WC signs the arrest report. What in the owrld do we need 3 Capt's in 023 that do not sign any arrest reports? All they do is Roll Call?

IRS chases after the city with 1,000 lawyers on retainer, or IRS chases after police officer who can't afford a long drawn out legal battle and bullies them into paying a fine, late fee and interest on money owed. I'm white and Republican, and still have a few good things to say about Miriam Santos.
1. You got a question about your taxes, assessment or whatever? Go to her office's website, find the email link and ask a question. I've had to do this twice, and each time got a detailed and appropriate response within 1 business day. I'm sorry, but I can't think of one other city, state or county admin office that is as responsive.
2. She describes herself as a "bitch". As long as the next mayor actually LIKES Chicago and Chicagoans, and will look out for the collective interests, than a "bitch" is probably a bit of a positive quality. At least, compared to being the mob's handpuppet.
Santos had it overturned, but plea bargained to a lesser charge and it was time considered served. I don't think she's eligible to run for office anymore. Nor do I think she could win, but then, who knows?

Santos protected our pension once in 1991 from Mayor Daley who wanted to get his hands on our pension money. She was a hero then. But then she got greedy with pushing people into giving her donations for her campaign fund and went to prison. She cannot be trusted again!

Why would we possibly care about homicide rates, violent crime rates, or for that matter, any of their "rates". They certainly don't care about our pay rate, and won't provide us with the manpower sufficient to put cars up, and let us take our time DUE! No one cares about the timeliness of our checks, or more importantly their correctness. They've had since July to get it right, and ite been a miserable failure
There is a former alderman who resides in the 010 Dist. (Medrano) He was convicted in operation Silver Shovel, and did pen time in a federal prison. He was allowed to run for alderman of his ward in spite of his conviction. He lost the election, but he was allowed to run, even after serving time. So I don't see where Miriam Santos would have a problem running for mayor. I think she would be a breath of fresh air.

Miriam Santos would be a fine Mayor. She has a pair of Balls bigger than many men. She protected us and our pension $$ from Mayor Daley. The Mayor gets mad that she is acting independently and going against him..and (POOF) she gets indicted for doing what every other aldercreature has done, telephone solicitations! They claimed she was too heavy handed, and used to much pressure. BIG DEAL.

Back to the W-2 concern. If you have your taxes prepared according to your W-2's they are the only source of info for the IRS on your earnings.(other than if you have any 10-99's) If the city corrects the W-2 on a later date you must file an amendment to your return and pay the difference, but will not be fined a penalty or interest charge

The law that prohibited felons from running/holding a municipal office was found unconstitutional by the tree hugging Illinois "supreme" court and 1st dist. appellate court. I'm shocked that they do not get jumped on at all on this blog. I read so many reversals from them that you would think that this was San Francisco.
