Who is Grant?
Someone is posting in the comments section of "What the Hell is Going On?" claiming to be investigating certain harassment beefs and listing a city phone number and a blog that was created today. We have no idea who this might be and to whom the number might belong. We deleted the posts.
Trust us when we say that there is no legit city department or investigator that would solicit this sort of information on a publicly accessible website. There is also no way a legit city department or investigator would publish his cell phone number on a website, let alone THIS website. This is probably a harassment attack of some sort on someone. Knock it off, because guess who is going to end up on the receiving end of that beef?

ATTENTION IF YOU ARE IN DAY OFF GROUP 6 OR 7
Some districts counted SUNDAY as the holiday. Some are counting MONDAY. Therefore if your district/unit counts MONDAY as the holiday and you are in D.O.G. 7 {day off Monday} ; YOU GET SCREWED. If you are in D.O.G. 6 {off Sunday} and your district counts SUNDAY as the holiday; you then get shafted.
The problem here is that since some districts are counting Sunday and some Monday.. THERE IS NO UNIFORMITY. This is a violation of the contract.
Please spread the word to officers who in D.O.G. 7.. they should notify FOP/PBPA on Tuesday morning because of the fuck up by the department.
REMEMBER!! 4 hours of holiday pay is equal to anywhere between $120.00 to 160.00!!!
The Holiday is Sunday. End of story. Those of us in "administrative" units are forced to take off Monday to erase the 8 hours EARNED ON SUNDAY!
If you are working the street in a district, don't let your Commander pull any shit like switching days that the Holiday is celbrated on!!!!!!!! Don;t let them violate the contract on you!
I'd love to see a list of Commanders who are trying to do this latest insult to the working police!

Since I AM OFF MONDAY and THEY INSIST Monday is the Holiday, I ain't gettin my holiday pay!

Since our district says MONDAY is the Holiday.. we have 39 people in DOG 7 (off Monday) who are getting screwed out of Holiday Pay.
So . . . Do we fill out a grievance form for all 39 people or just 1 grievance form for all???

Isn't that newly escaped prisoner "Francisco Romero" on those large most wanted posters that have been on the station walls for a couple years? He has a sticker that says "captured" over his picture. I wonder if a county guy has to go around to all the stations with a little scraper to remove the "captured" sticker with a new "escaped" sticker.

For sworn, non-exempt, Sunday was the holiday...period. If you didn't check your FOP book or the calendar that Sid Davis distributes...too bad.
For those in administrative positions, you should have been given the option to either take Monday off using CU or whatever or WORK THE STREET. Most admin people when told what their choice will be by the Commander will not argue, because they want to keep their spot.
For civilians and exempt, the holiday is Monday. It is all out there in writing if you take the time to read.
Just for the record, the next holiday is Monday, Feb. 20th. and is designated as Presidents Day which now takes the place of Washington's birthday, not to be confused with Saturday April 29th. CAPS Day a.k.a. Police Partnership Day which isn't listed in the F.O.P. handbook. Whew!

Moral poverty cost blacks in New Orleans

Say a hurricane is about to destroy the city you live in. Two questions:
What would you do?
What would you do if you were black?
Sadly, the two questions don't have the same answer.
To the first: Most of us would take our families out of that city quickly to protect them from danger. Then, able-bodied men would return to help others in need, as wives and others cared for children, elderly, infirm and
the like.
For better or worse, Hurricane Katrina has told us the answer to the second question. If you're black and a hurricane is about to destroy your city, you'll probably wait for the government to save you.
This was not always the case. Prior to 40 years ago, such a pathetic performance by the black community in a time of crisis would have been inconceivable. The first response would have come from black men. They would take care of their families, bring them to safety, and then help the rest of the community. Then local government would come in.
No longer. When 75 percent of New Orleans residents had left the city, it was primarily immoral, welfare-pampered blacks that stayed behind and waited for the government to bail them out. This, as we know, did not turn out good results.
Enter Jesse Jackson and Louis Farrakhan. Jackson and Farrakhan laid blame on "racist" President Bush. Farrakhan actually proposed the idea that the government blew up a levee so as to kill blacks and save whites. The two demanded massive governmental spending to rebuild New Orleans, above and
beyond the federal government's proposed $60 billion. Not only that, these two were positioning themselves as the gatekeepers to supervise the dispersion of funds. Perfect: Two of the most dishonest elite blacks in America, "overseeing" billions of dollars. I wonder where that money will end up.
Of course, if these two were really serious about laying blame on government, they should blame the local one. Responsibility to perform legally and practically fell first on the mayor of New Orleans. We are now all familiar with Mayor Ray Nagin the black Democrat who likes to yell at
President Bush for failing to do Nagin's job. The facts, unfortunately, do not support Nagin's wailing. As the Washington Times puts it, "recent reports show [Nagin] failed to follow through on his own city's
emergency-response plan, which acknowledged that thousands of the city's poorest residents would have no way to evacuate the city."
One wonders how there was "no way" for these people to evacuate the city.
We have photographic evidence telling us otherwise. You've probably seen it by now the photo showing 2,000 parked school buses, unused and underwater.
How much planning does it require to put people on a bus and leave town, Mayor Nagin?
Instead of doing the obvious, Mayor Nagin (with no positive contribution from Democratic Gov. Kathleen Blanco, the other major leader vested with responsibility to address the hurricane disaster) loaded remaining New Orleans residents into the Superdome and the city's convention center. We
know how that plan turned out.
About five years ago, in a debate before the National Association of Black Journalists, I stated that if whites were to just leave the United States and let blacks run the country, they would turn America into a ghetto within 10 years. The audience, shall we say, disagreed with me strongly. Now I
have to disagree with me. I gave blacks too much credit. It took a mere three days for blacks to turn the Superdome and the convention center into ghettos, rampant with theft, rape and murder.
President Bush is not to blame for the rampant immorality of blacks. Had New Orleans' black community taken action, most would have been out of harm's way. But most were too lazy, immoral and trifling to do anything productive for themselves.
All Americans must tell blacks this truth. It was blacks' moral poverty not their material poverty that cost them dearly in New Orleans. Farrakhan, Jackson, and other race hustlers are to be repudiated for they will only
perpetuate this problem by stirring up hatred and applauding moral corruption. New Orleans, to the extent it is to be rebuilt, should be remade into a dependency-free, morally strong city where corruption is opposed and success is applauded. Blacks are obligated to help themselves and not depend on the government to care for them. We are all obligated to tell them so.

What is with this confusion about the holiday pay? The individual districts have nothing to do with the decision of what day the holiday is recognized. Per the contract, it is Sunday. End of Friggin' story.
