Keep on Talking

Howard Dean keeps dragging the democrats off into the fever swamps of the left wing. The latest?
  • Dean: "All we ask is that we not turn into a country like Iran where the President can do anything he wants."

Wow. He sounds just like lefty and shady! Anyone remember the last time fundamentalist christians shut down newspapers for publishing cartoons? Or stoned women to showing a bit of ankle? Or hung a few gentlemen for playing "Brokeback Mountain" with one another? We didn't think so. Or how about this one:

  • Dean: "This is a Republican scandal."

Then this story finally hits the mainstream media that Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid wrote 4 letters on behalf of Indian gaming interests and accepted $68,000. Does this absolve any republicans who took money illegally and improperly? No. If they can prove it, jail them all. Washington could do with a bit of a shakeup. But it makes the entire democratic party look like a bunch of hypocritical morons, especially as there are going to be even more revelations of democrats taking money from Abramoff's clients, not just republicans. Of course the republicans may have gotten more money - THEY'RE IN POWER! It makes sense to give money to the people who can help you. But claiming that Abramoff didn't give democrats money but directed his clients to do so is like arguing over the meaning of the word "is." The people will see through the semantics.

This comment will be copied and pasted to every thread until Donahue answers some questions.

TO: Anonymous who said, "quit crying about every little fuckin thing!"

How come when someone who voices independent opinions about the concerns of F.O.P., the dim wits who sit upstairs, horrible medical benefits, or ask questions, are in your words "crying." The questions and concerns asked are legitimate. Every member has a right to ask and receive honest answers instead of silence or smoke and mirrors.

Many questions asked yesterday:

1. Are the Sgts going to stay on the FOP board?

2. What is Donahue's position about the Sgts. being on the Board?

3. How are the new Sgts. going to impose discipline on the rank and file and then discuss disciplinary actions against patrol officers at the Board meetings?

4. can you imagine what FOP's tax returns look like?

5. Are you reading this Mr. Mayor!

6. Do you think Mayor Daley could and would really call for an audit on FOP's financial records and income tax returns?

7. What was the problem with his return in 2001 or 2002?

8. One has to wonder how a contract drops 1/2 price with constant costs rising?

9. Why did we need a million in 2002? Is that when Mark & Co. took over?

10. Who knows the name of the entity which has the building in a trust?

Work for your salary Donahue and answer some of the above questions. Tell the TRUTH FOR ONCE IN YOUR PATHETIC LIFE!!!! You are a disgrace to the uniform, and in the capacity of representing us, the patrolmen for the city of Chicago. We should send you to the ARBITRATOR FOR A DECISION ON HOW TO GET RID OF YOU AS PRESIDENT OF F.O.P.

Discussion about politics on a blog site seem to be similar to syllogistic arguments refering to the existance of god.

The truth of the matter of honest politicians is that the democrats and the republicans both are deep into the middle class pockets and always looking for more for themselves.

It's never enough; to get free medical for life and an outrageous pension for life, is only the tip of the perk mountain for pols.

They take 50% of police officers Social Security Benefits from them thanks to Felony Dan Rostenkowski.
AKA: "Stamps"

How about Teddy "the fish" Kennedy?
Try driving, under the influence, off of the Michigan & Wacker bridge with your "girlfriend" then , after saving yourself, run home without calling the police or fire. Once they fish out your car and the dead body see how much it cost to avoid jail...Oh yeah, keep your job and benefits intact.

Give us back our earned income benefits and stayn out our pockets.

I'm in agreement with the cop who commented about THE SCC not wanting to read the truth on their blog.

It is hyporcritical on your part SCC. You publish pictures of a female sgt constantly on your board without conscious, and yet, when a cop wants some answers, treats come into play on your part or perhaps in defense of F.O.P. What is that all about anyway? How does one go about getting a blog on the net. Enlighten us so we can publish comments and pictures of you on our blog. Believe me when I say, I have pictures too!!!

7. I have no idea what the problem was with Mayor Daley's return in 2001 or 2002; I'm not his accountant.

It wasn't Daley's taxes we were concerned about, it was Donahue's tax returns. Sorry if you misunderstood!

Hey Huber, if you do monitor this blog, call for an audit on the FOP tax returns and books for the last 15 years or so.

Sergeants elected to the FOP board when they were Police Officers cannot be compelled to resign. They cannot be reelected either.

As a sergeant and fraternal member of the Lodge, I believe it is the duty of board members to resign upon being promoted to sergeant. Failure to do otherwise is not honorable. You will soon see what they are made of when they get sworn in as sergeants.

The mayor has no authority to call for an audit of the books, nor the power to do so. If you are really concerned about malfeasance, then go to a meeting or two (which is something very few members do) and ask those questions. Maybe polish up on Roberts Rules of Order too. If the Board will not answer your questions, then contact the State and/or National Lodges. Our FOP has to follow the charter and the guidelines set forth by the parent organizations.

There are THOUSANDS of members of Lodge 7. Yet in spite of thousands of members only a handful of people attend the meetings. There is no excuse why each and every member of Lodge 7 cannot attend at least ONE meeting a year. If you want accountability, then get involved in your bargaining unit.

I've contacted my bargaining unit and asked questions of the leadership. And you know what? They answer the questions!!..... both the past administration and the present. Also, I make it a point to at least attend a meeting now and then.

If you don't take the time to get involved with your bargaining unit, then you get what you put into it......nothing. If you do nothing, then don't bitch and shut the fuck up.

It's obvious from the many comments on this board that most of you guys and some of the gals have never held jobs in the private sector. At most you only get 5-10 days of paid medical and a week or 2 vacation unless you're upper management. The medical insurance costs substantially more than our and their prescriptions costs are higher. If you think $35.00 is too much to pay for a prescription - go on-line and check out the prices to buy the same drugs w/o insurance. You'll better appreciate having to only pay $35.00. And just maybe the prescription you got filed isn't one of the scheduled drugs or isn't a generic. While we now have to pay more for our insurance and our prescriptions, it's still a pitance compared to what people in the real world pay. And given that our salaries are among the highest in the city for blue collar workers, and not terribly dangerous, you should be ashamed of all your constant whinning. You hit the jackpot when you got hired and are too spoiled or too stupid to realize it.

Your arrogance is yet another reason why no one cares to attend your stupid meetings. Why should we, when you can't even be diplomatic on the SCC, let alone in person.

$35.00 and UP is a lot of money to pay for a prescription. You know what would be a wake up call for you, Donahue? If you become so sick that your monthly prescriptions would amount to $1,200.00 a month. Then let's see how you gloat about how well you are doing as current president of FOP and how wonderful all the benefits we are getting.

Get your head out of your ASS and be a MAN for once in your life!

SUBJECT: BLOG FORMATS.

For numerous reasons, I, for one, would prefer that SCC change from a chronological diary format to the reverse-chronolgical format as used in the NYPD RANT.

For openers, let's assume that SCC's latest thread is a topic that most of us find utterly boring (SCC: This is rare. You're doing a helluva job). We must endure the top threads until those of interest appear, our only option being to rudely "hi-jack" the thread.

Most certainly would agree that a format in which we can focus in on specific topics with intelligent discourse is so much better than being incessantly interrupted by the maniacal drivel of a moron.

Not so for the NYPD RANT. A poster can raise a thread which originated a while back with a new comment and that topic is "bumped" to the top of the blog list.

Furthermore, this would eliminate the (IMHO) juveniles who immediately jump in with inane, anonymous comments like "Ahh, I'm first!" (orgasmic). It would also tend to keep the thread on topic.

Much more importantly, I suspect that only one, perhaps two posters continually insult police officers, in general, with numerous hare-brained "anonymous" insults solely to provoke a reaction and attempt to infuriate us. Also, never underestimate the vindictiveness and treachery of management in anonymously attempting to sabotage this forum in expressing our protected First Amendment rights on matters of public concern.

If money was a factor, I would gladly contribute to support this site (I have neither the time nor the inclination in creating my own blog site).

QUESTION: I am not that knowledgeable about blog terminology. Can anyone clarify the terminology in describing the format used here vs. the reverse-chronological format (a la NYPD RANT) where the most recent post is "bumped" up to the top?

Also, is it too much to ask that all contributers register using a nom de plume or moniker and otherwise retain their anonymity if they so choose. As it stands, almost every contributer is merely "identified" as only "anonymous". Very confusing, to say the least.

In the same breath regarding anonymity, I know all too well that city employees and certainly active police officers who post truthful comments critical of the CPD can expect certain retaliation from Daley through his "Kool-Aid drinkers" that "manage" the CPD. From my own personal experience, you can trust me on that.

Also, any input on my comments for improving this blog site.

Thank you.

cc: SCC Administrator(s).

----------------------------------

What the hell are you talking about? Not terribly dangerous? Have you ever been shot at? Been in a no-holds-barred 10-1? Have the words "Drop that gun or I'll fucking kill you!!!" ever crossed your lips other than at the academy? You're probably some desk asshole that makes my life at work more difficult than it already is.
This job and the private sector are totally different. If our pay/benefits are so great, then why aren't the poor slobs in the private sector beating the doors down to get this "not terribly dangerous" job?

2/11/2006 03:36:00 PM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Because the poor slobs in the private sector have more skills and are making more money that you.

Them smart; you simple;
them make more money;
you make more benefits;

Is that clear enough simpleton?

That's if we are referring to the upper end private sector. If you're comparing blue collar private sector, they are trying to get on. Those that aren't either don't have the education or have a problem with the psych or background.

Don't kid yourself into believing you deserve more than you're worth. Every job has it's price and although dangerous, there are many jobs out there more dangerous that pay less. The dangerous ones that do pay more, you wouldn't move your lazy ass to do.

"Highest paid salaries among blue collar workers?" Again why let the facts get in the way of a good argument. Did you ever check the union scale for most "blue collar" city employees. Compare our hourly vs. garbagemen, carpenters, electricians. How about Operating Engineers Local 150? Every minute of overtime is double time. As for health benefits just sit there and take it as we slowly pay more and receive less. Why are we lumped in with the rest of the city employees when it comes to health benefits?(CFD has their own) Why don't we have insurance for P.O.'s only?(Philadelphia P.D. template) We have to have at least 60 hrs college credit and the city wants more "professional" candidates for the job.(insert joke here) Yet they don't treat us like professionals they treat us like every other "blue collar" union worker. You are playing right into the city hands "be grateful, you should see what it's like in the private sector." Pardon my French but F@$# Y%$, this isn't the private sector and if you are "The Working Police" try and find an accountant, actuary or lawyer that not only possesses the skill, but also the intestinal fortitude to do our job. Don't sell ourselves short that is exactly what the city wants to hear come contract time. More importantly Stay Safe out there!

There are plenty of Lawyers, accountants and actuaries on the job that came here for the better benefits.

like it or not:
The days of beating for confessions and holding witnesses hostage are gone.

Soon our every move will be on video and audio; our radios will have GPS; beat integrity will be mandatory and enforced and the officer of the future will need to adapt to the difficult restraints we will be working under.

The old way won't work anymore and the beauty of the new police is they will embrace it, make it work and still lock people up.

While the oldtimer will chalk it up to "bullshit" and lay down and not work anymore.

The two guys I know who rattle on about witnesses, videos, 48 hour rule, etc. haven't cleared a murder in the 3 years I've watched them piss into the wind. Files filled with supps, inv alerts on every male in the city, interviews with a neighbors 3rd cousin's auntie, blah, blah, blah. The best are the little innuendos thrown at anyone who clears cases(beating, etc.; like you did above). You are a Master Detective. You knew it all the day you walked into the Area. Well, I was almost fooled. When you said that we should pull ourselves together, I knew that this wasn't the real Mark Donahue. The real Mark Donahue would never say "make it happen". He would say that "we're having a meeting next week" and we'll take care of you. Donahue's idea of a working union is to keep the membership divided, so "pull together" is not in his vocabulary. Cheney shot someone and the American taxpayers did not know about until 18 hours later.

It truely is the administration that does not shoot straight.

Here is a summary of a very bad weeekend for the administration:

Cheney shot a hunting companion

"Scooter" Libby testified that his boss - Cheney - suggested that Libby release classified information to the press.

Republicans and Democrats alike state that Cheney should be investigated to see if the assertion is accurate.

The numbers don't look good for public support of warrantless wiretaps. This from a GOP sponsered pole.

Everybody involved in the Katrina organizational mess are now pointing fingers at evrybody else.
Brown: "I didn't talk to DHS secratary because I didn't think it would be productive."

This is the administration that insists the GOP is the only organization that will keep us safe.

Let Rove move forward and make National Security a political issue. The administration is not in a position to proclaim victory or even "Mission Accomplished" just yet.

Oh. My. God. There are 4000 POs on the books who we couldn't find with the best of the best from the areas. You talkin about the skills to find a spot and hide?

Or is it the skills needed to drive (sober no less) to a spot for greasy food? And the intestinal fortitude to eat it, day after day, so long as its free or discounted?

Don't fool yourself kid. About 200 kids run around chasing bad guys in this city. Lots of us were once one of the 200 kids, but then we saw how this game was over 20 years ago. You don't need no skills and you don't need no intestinal fortitude. You just need big wading boots and a dark sense of humor.

Jr, let me tell you, and you can take it or leave it if you want, it's up to you: You have got a LOT to learn on this job, KID! Your "New Police" era is 110% fucked up! TRUST US! All of your CAPS crap DONT WORK! NYPD proved it, go on believing Da Mayor when he stated "we have a different type of crime than New York." Your Huggie, Feelie CAPS crap is about one thing, and one thing only, GOVT $$$! Caps is not working the way we want it, can we have more money Mr President? Do ya see how CAPS got pushed to the back burner when the cash flow tightened? I guess not there kid, you aint been on long enough! Quantity "might" go up, but quality will hit the shitter! The computers, when they work, are a great thing, and probably the best thing to happen to CPD since the Semi-Auto.
As Far as the "The new breed understands how to take law enforcement to the next level." comment; funny, real fucking funny! (most of) Your "new breed" as you put it couldn’t find a case report in a fucking squad car if their life depended on it! Give me 2 "Old-Timers" at a 10-1 over most of your "new breed" any day! I don’t want to make a blanket statement here, but a ton of the 5 year and under wonders have NO FUCKING CLUE how to do police work! I love the "Intelligent, motivated and most will likely retire at 50 and live their life." Intelligent, yes, but as someone else stated on the blog a while back (you are a wise, wise person!): "Too much college, not enough High School!" Some of the "old-timers" are still around for 2 reasons; 1- the money aint right to leave yet (hold on for 20 more years kid, you'll understand what that means) and 2- Some of them still LIKE (and do) this job! Dont fret your lil head, that will never be you! As far as Motivated goes, you're joking, right! Another funny from you? I have never seen as many people than I have come out of the academy, as I have in the last 5 years, AND DO NOTHING when they hit the street! Motivated to do what? Stab other coppers in the back? Hurry up and get more schooling on the city dime, then try to find some cushy inside job? "Do I really have to bring this gun to work boss? Its heavy." I just love the recruits who state "I have a Masters in Computer what-ever, I'm going to 35th Street when I get off probation." And your Old Timer "laying down" bullshit, There's Old Timers out there that do more work in one period than you will in an entire career! Believe that, KIDDIE! Any of your boot prints on any doors on the South or West side? (from a H.I. or a S.W.? Either way, I'll bet not). How many Homicides have been involved in? (putting up crime scene tape don’t count!) How many guns have you got? How many bad guys have you put in prison? I just love your "The days of beating for confessions and holding witnesses hostage are gone." comment. You watch WAY TOO MUCH TV! Get out on the street, do a little work, scuff up them shoes you got JR, get into a fight or two on this job, then, hopefully for your and our sake, you might figure it out! I’m not stating I'm an Old Timer (hell, not even close!) or part of the "been there, done that." crew, however, I have been around the block at least once. My leather is a "little" faded & scuffed. Trust me: We aint that impressed! Some of the new generation actually WANT to do this job, and learn the right way, the wrong way, and the CPD way. (as my FTO put it, "the first will get you bad guys, the second will get you time, the third will get you out of trouble, but all three will get you to be the police!- P.S. Thanks Bill!)To them, my hats off t
o you! But a cock-weasel like you will never get it!

SCC should be a log in, know who is making a comment type blog. I'm tired of seeing anonymous over and over again. Maybe anonymous posters are timid characters who become men on a blog. Seems to me if you have an opinion say who you are and put it out there.
