Another Bright Idea

Ever notice that all the bright ideas that seem to come from this city administration ALMOST ALWAYS end up being reversed in some way, shape or form?
  • City trucks are being under utilized - Let's sub contract it out to the private sector and save the taxpayers money! We'll call it "Hired Truck." Oops!
  • We need more parking downtown - Let's build a huge underground parking garage and finance it with a bond issue! It'll pay for itself in a few years. Oops!
  • Downtown is in danger from small airplanes - Let's bulldoze Meigs Field! No one needs a place to land helicopters anyway. Oops!

Do you ever get the feeling that the city government exists only to enrich construction companies? We do, too!

Daley never realized he could have leased that airport Meigs for a ton of money. Naa....let's turn it into a bullshit concert thingy that has no parking and is a terrible venue that no one wants to play at! DU ooooH!

All these young “punk police” care about is chasing the bad guy and getting glory. (if not court time)

They give a shit about what happens 5 minutes from now let alone 20 years. You think they want to go to meetings. They don’t serve Ritalin for the kids their.

hey old timer, I'm not a two year wonder, and I've got a few years on, but I've been to several meetings and they are pretty much a joke. You try to listen to what is going on, but it's impossimble to hear anything due to the social gathering going on at the bar. So please don't tell me how great our bargaining agent is. And your right about the ritilin, but it should be given out at the bar there, and then mabey, just mabey it will be worth going to a meeting again.

Can we have a thread for the article about the new fancy, schmancy cars that Dickhead Daley wants to put out on the street? You know, the $85k ones where we say, "Nightrider, activate...find stolen vehicle."

Here's an idea, you fucking idiot of a mayor:

how about giving us computers in our cars now that work? how about CLEAR in every car so when dude tells me he has an id at home and it comes up no record on file, i can look him up in CLEAR.

and how about you do this by getting us the best equipment, not just the shit that your "friend" has the contract for.

how about hiring more fucking police so we can stop fucking lying to the public about the number of police working to protect their homes and families.

how about this: since you are the one who decided to close Meigs in the middle of the night and now it is decided that downtown needs a helipad - YOU FUCKING PAY FOR IT OUT OF YOUR OWN SALARY, DALEY.

thanks for letting me get all that out. i needed that.

WE are the UNION! I know you cannot make every meeting, but try to go just three times a year. It will not change overnight, but you will be on track to find out who's doing what, and who is not. When elections come you know who to vote for, no straight tickets. It will probably take six to nine years to get all the buggers out of our UNION, but it will be worth it. You cannot wait for the next guy to do something about it, it's all of our fault that the UNION is the way it is!

It not just the fancy-schmancy hi-tech stuff for cars. How about cars that are designed to fit 2 full sized people, and be able to function as our mobile office. The Chevy Impalas are too small for anyone over 5'6" or 175 lbs. to be able to function effectively.

If you want to ask about fancy vehicles what about the $2 million dollar communications van that Daley showd off then got repo-ed by the manufacturer because the city didn't pay the bill.

Go on a diet fatso cops, then you will fit into the new cars. Cars are designed to fit average people. But as we all know cops are just fat lazy people. How about using that uniform check to pay for leased vehicles. This would save the city money. But the usual cop needs it for Vegas and getting drunk.

They never buy uniforms with it. Look around next role call see the holey pants and shirts. They wear shoes that they got off a piss-bum. Hell, most of them still wear the vest the city gave them when hired. (it goes in the trunk once outside) See how well the clothing fits, its a joke. The Bumsville police dept.

TO: Anonymous who said, "quit crying about every little fuckin thing!"

How come when someone who voices independent opinions about the concerns of F.O.P., the dim wits who sit upstairs, horrible medical benefits, or ask questions, are in your words "crying." The questions and concerns asked are legitimate. Every member has a right to ask and receive honest answers instead of silence or smoke and mirrors.

Many questions asked yesterday:

1. Are the Sgts going to stay on the FOP board?

2. What is Donahue's position about the Sgts. being on the Board?

3. How are the new Sgts. going to impose discipline on the rank and file and then discuss disciplinary actions against patrol officers at the Board meetings?

4. can you imagine what FOP's tax returns look like?

5. Are you reading this Mr. Mayor!

6. Do you think Mayor Daley could and would really call for an audit on FOP's financial records and income tax returns?

7. What was the problem with his return in 2001 or 2002?

8. One has to wonder how a contract drops 1/2 price with constant costs rising?

9. Why did we need a million in 2002? Is that when Mark & Co. took over?

10. Who knows the name of the entity which has the building in a trust?

Work for your salary Donahue and answer some of the above questions. Tell the TRUTH FOR ONCE IN YOUR PATHETIC LIFE!!!! You are a disgrace to the uniform, and in the capacity of representing us, the patrolmen for the city of Chicago. We should send you to the ARBITRATOR FOR A DECISION ON HOW TO GET RID OF YOU AS PRESIDENT OF F.O.P.

Let me get this straight...

Year 2000: Oversized concrete "deck" is created on Federal property under guise that it's needed to shore up a leaking seawall while DuSable Harbor is created from the old turning basin in the Chicago River.

Year 2001: Muzzies strike NYC World Trade Center.

Year 2003: King Richard illegally closes Miegs Field (Federal property) under the secrecy of night claiming it was a threat to the city by allowing menacing aircraft too near skyscrapers. Feds sue city.

Year 2004: Also called Northerly Island Sanctuary, a concert venue and concessionaire is created and it's managment is NOT awarded to the lowest bidder, but to a consortium with close ties to the King.

Year 2006: Media reports "Chicago Helistop" is created to serve emergency first responders to terrorism, but will allow private aircraft to use, thereby helping "defray" the cost of it's maintenance.

Somehow this time line seems ass-backwards! Looks like the King knew all along that he would replace Meigs with a helistop and 911 was his perfect excuse to make it happen. Meanwhile, his patronage is making a shitload of money while our taxes go up yet services get worse.

Early retirement and exodus from this fucked-up city has never looked better.

King Richard's wife didn't like the airplanes flying so close to their house at Central Station, so the airport had to go.

If we were really using the lakefront in the manner that Daniel Burnham envisioned, why was McCormick place built there? And if Chicago wants the convention business and the dollars it brings, why wipe out the airport that is next to the convention center? Didn't the bigwhigs with the deep pockets (you know, the people who organize money making conventions) like having the airport close by?

Oh, I forgot, it was a little used airport for fatcats only. Well, fatcats are the ones who invest the money that build the businesses that employ the middle class. Fatcats are also the ones who book conventions.

Meigs field was a gem of an airport, and there was no reason to get rid of it. Now he wants a 'nofly' zone around downtown.

Tell me Mr. Mayor, if an airplane strays into the downtown airspace, are you going to call 911? Or maybe have our helicopter pull it over?

If a pilot of an aircraft wants to fly into a building, there is absolutely nothing to be done about it.

Within five years there will either be a casino on Meigs field or a 'Daley' park. Anyone want to disagree?

Hey FOP how about bringing up the fact that we are not covered by workmans comp insurance . Our medical policy as it stands does not allow for cash settlements for injuries. A ordinary workmans comp insurance would be an issue to put forth in the next contract. You have already bargained away our free medical coverage. Lets put the ball back in their court.

What about using the military base at O'Hare and having a couple of planes on stand-by as they were from the 1950's until about 1998. Oh...I forgot, the mayor insisted on getting rid of the military from O'Hare. With his brother as the Sec of Commerce and Pres. Clinton in charge, they did just that.

The other day I was on Zone 13 and the dispatcher gave a 9th District car a disturbance with a large crowd on 51st Street. The helicopter was overhead and confirmed the crowd. When the 9th District car responded he was 99 unit the dispatcher actually said that the helicopter was his assist, like the helicopter would land and assist him. I couldn't believe what I was hearing.

Luckily, the call was a nothing call...

The dispatcher who told the 99 unit the the helicopter was his assist should be beaten. WHat an idiot.

Besides, we all know that the helicopter wasn't going to land. The P.O. riding shotgun was going to parachute into the crowd and machine gun everybody. Just like in the movies! Wooweee!

Klass is the only one really on him, if he was such a Republican I'm sure they would be on him for keeping Jesse's kid out of prison for the dope dealing, which I have yet to hear Jesse deny. The Chicago press beefs more about Bush's friends than they do about Daleys numerous corrupt friends. And if Daley is such a consevative whats he doing hiring all these Homsexuals and minorities putting them in high positions when the majority of them are extremely incompetant. And I did not see Jesse good friend Meeks get chastised for having an idiot flunky drive him around and himself act the fool.
