Media Credibility Flushed Further

We know, we know, not too many of our readers follow politics and media as closely as we do. And yes, we realize it could be annoying, which is why we mix it up with all sorts of other stuff - if we were a one trick pony, we wouldn't be getting 1,400 visits a day. But this one needs pointing out.

The media (at the behest of the democratic party) are attempting to portray Bush as incompetent during the Hurricane Katrina disaster. As if Bush could have stopped a hurricane. They want to portray him as bumbling at every turn. The latest video kerfuffle involves the media insisting Bush was told that the levees could be breached. If you actually sit and watch the video, Governor Blanco (democrat) tells the president that the levees were holding, but some might be overtopped. Duh! The whole world knew that 18 foot levees were going to be overtopped by a 28 foot storm surge! Gateway Pundit has a rundown of headlines for the two days prior to the Katrina landfall.

But that isn't the kicker. After the blogosphere shredded the AP's facts, they recanted and admitted the video showed nothing that they said it did. Wizbang blog said this looked exactly like the CBS hit job that took down Dan Rather. How right he was. The producer of the AP News wire story was a producer for 60 Minutes II when the botched National Guard memo story blew up in Dan Rather's face.

It just makes us smile. We can't believe anyone gets their news from the lame stream media anymore. Why bother when it's all going to be wrong in 5 days anyway?

MEDIA = AGENDA

control the news and you'll control the minds of the dumbing majority.

Slanted, erroneous, without follow up when incorrect, and usually presented in the most narrow minded fashion, the 4th estate is a perfect front man for our circus of inept politicians today.

As a P.O. the media has NEVER reported a story correctly in my 29 years.

Will the Tribune and local TV media make mention of GILHOOLY and RAPPAPORT and discredit the BPP for naming clinics after a COP KILLER?

ATTENTION: Use that PDT to check pending jobs. Go to menu hit EQ now enter a time prior to now and a district. SEE IT WORKS! Now go down on street stops or assist citizen to avoid a 3 head shoplifter or multi-car accident on your beat. Make those Dog Dock cars do something.

Why do some people think that the amount of time they have on the job means anything when they are trying to make a point. For example...."In my 29 years on the job, I have never seen a bigger goof than ...." The 29 year piece is unecessary and irrelevant and is only put there to somehow put weight to the point. Please stop telling us how much time you have on because if you were an idiot 29 years ago chances are you are still an idiot albeit an older and grumpier idiot. On the flip side, if you were a nice person 29 years ago, who cares because we only care if you are a nice person now. So stop trying to make points with your seniority, it only makes you seem stupid. Just because you are on the job 29 years doesn't mean you know anything or ever did anything so give it a break.

I always laugh to myself when I hear coppers telling war stories to each other.

Usually the ones who dont say anything are the ones who have been there done that.

Good Coppers dont have to tell you that they are good coppers i.e. sharing war stories.

So you 5 minute wonders from 011 shut up cause it hasnt been bad there in about 8 years

To 3/04/2006 01:49:18 PM,

You, sir, are absolutely correct. When I came on there were plenty of new police officers who had gained ten years worth of experience in about twenty-four months, and there were twenty-five year veteran officers who had one year of experience, twenty-five times over! Young sharp guys who could make excellent sergeants in a few years, and senior officers who couldn't be counted on to do anything besides one mover, four parkers, and a bus check-and to go the opposite direction during a 10-1. There's truth to both sides. Bashing in moderation, please! We're all in this together. Save Yourself-Vote McCain!!!!

Here's what Michael Brown said the day Katrina hit the city:

"He [Bush] remains very, very interested in this situation," Brown said. "He's obviously watching the television a lot, and he had some questions about the Dome, he's asking questions about reports of breaches. He's asking about hospitals. He's very engaged, and he's asking a lot of really good questions I would expect him to ask."

Brown was giving Bush info that he was getting from Nagin and Blanco, which as we now know, was bad info. The levees had been breached and New Orleans was flooding.

Do we really have to dig up the pictures of all the flooded buses again? BUSH HAD NO AUTHORITY TO EVACUATE NEW ORLEANS. No US President ever has. How about this - BUSH HAD NO AUTHORITY TO SEND IN THE ARMY. The Posse Comitatus Act forbids him from doing so. He must be "invited" by the controlling local authority.

FEMA did it's job, prepositioning supplies and shelter outside of the damage path, just like they were supposed to. Blanco and Nagin didn't have the evacuation plan followed or the transport ready for people or material. Perhaps if the LOCAL authorities had followed the LOCAL evacuation plan and spend money checking, maintaining and reinforcing LOCALLY controlled levees, then Bush wouldn't have had to bail them out of their mess.

You see that's exactly the crap I'm talking about.....why would anybody say that any particular district hasn't been bad since whenever.....Because that's when they worked there themselves and they want to say how they are soooo much better than the current new guys. My guess is that this guy was in 011 or 015 about 9 years ago and going by the averages was there for 2 or 3 years meaning that he has 10-11 years on the job. Who the fuck cares???

We all know the media is not in the business of informing the public anymore. It used to be journalists reported news, now they want to change the world. Look at how they relentlessly pound on the Republicans while the democrats get a pass. It is so transparent. Thats why the mainstream media's credibility is in the shitcan (dan rather) they are biased, and Fox News is soaring. My television hasnt been tuned to the the big three in ages. And to the moron ripping on the 29 year copper, S.T.F.U. and G.F.Y.

Settle down kid. Things have changed. The Yuppies are starting to gentrify the "fast" districts at an incredible pace. 012 at one time was a ghetto with a horrible skid row. Do you remeber Ducks at the corner of Division/Damen? There was blood there every Sunday morning drying on the sidewalk. Now the only thing there is drying Starbucks coffee.

I realize that you may have never seen these things while living in the suburbs, Mt. Greenwood, or Jeff/Norwood Pk. Shit changes, and so will you, after a few years.

Hey Lefty.....go fuck yourself!! The second I read "Your President" coming forward on your dribble I disregard anything else you have to say.

You're a jagoff!! And if I heard your shit in person, I'd tell it to your face.

You don't like the President....that's OK with me. You want to beef about his decisions? Again, that's OK with me. You have every right to disagree, dislike, or bitch about the President, but unless you live in another country, or have renounced your citizenship, he's YOUR President too!

Or is your name Philip Nolan? But you're probably too fucking ignorant to understand what that means....so again, go fuck yourself!

Hey 13 used to be the ghetto. About 15 fucking years ago. Now it is yuppie central with the last minorities/working class white people being given the boot. Anything east of California is priced ridiculously. Great if you like good coffee (great discounts). Lousy if you like overtime. The winters couldn't be more boring.

The point is....who gives a shit what the neighborhood is like or was like. It didn't change because of anything the police did or did not do and it doesn't make one person better than another just like time on the job or where a person works makes tham any better or worse than anybody else. I've seen over and over again how big mouthed empty headed morons bad mouth certain districts and then they bid there themselves. Once they get there, things immediately change and it's now OK to work there.

In another 10-15yrs Chicago will be just like San Francisco fully gentrified. The residency requirement will be abolished out of political necessity. If 50-70,000$ can't buy you a home in the average Chicago neighborhood,FOP would have a compelling argument in arbitration that we are underpaid vs.the cost of living in the city. The Mayor and city government no longer need us to prop up the tax base.Hordes of yuppies and affluent empty nesters to take our place.

I get tired of those who say that people in New Orleans had no way to evacuate. Its possible that there are an extremely small number of people who fit in that category, I would guess that most just stayed by choice. Look at the people living in the project high-rises here in Chicago. They are trying to get them out of those rat-infested hellholes but those people fight to stay. People don't want to leave the place they call their home. I would surmise that those in New Orleans just figured that the flooding wouldn't be that bad, so they stayed. They couldn't imagine the damage that did occur.

Lefty, I had hoped that over the years you could have curbed your racebaiting, but since you didn't, why don't you move to the ghetto and in an attempt to rid yourself of the guilt you feel. You could sell your current house, rent an apartment, and give the extra money from the sale of your house to the people of your new community. I am sure that you and your family would be welcomed with open arms. Even better, move in next to Malcolm. You would both get what you deserve. You would be helping our YOUR people and he would be stuck next to a honkey!!!! It would kill his racist self!!!!!

Med check time !

The only points I'm reading are about the ones on top of the pin heads who relate that they have nothing to learn from an older copper regardless where he worked or if they consider him a dog or not. You weren't there shorty. Live and learn.

I never thought it was the right thing to do, that is putting a new guy, still a P.P.O., with another under two year F.T.O.

Believe it or not experience does develop with time. Sure some dogs slide by but would it be fair to say all old guys are dogs? I don't think so anymore than I'd say all coppers eat fucking donuts.

Take your meds and grow up. Your nitpicking on these sites makes you miss the content of the thought
that has been corresponded.Who cares about the spelling or the other "points" you dig out to fill your self important banalities?

With all the resources dumped into 7, theres no way it should be that dangerous, problem is the last commander they had prior to the new one was purely administative, no real street sense and hardly no one is doing any policing in 7. Not that I can fault them when you have that racist midnight W/C who loves to screw outside units when there bringing in arrests no matter what type of arrset be it warrants or guns.
