Do you know where your tax preparer is? Ours seems to be in the Bahamas about now spending our refund money. Does anyone know if the US has an extradition treaty with this Caribbean island? We'd like to get some of our money back.

Can someone explain something to me? Their is a group of officers who took the police exam in 1992 and did not get hired until 1997. This is the funny part- A group took the test in 1993 and was hired before the group above hired in 1997. Another group took the test in 1994 and also was hire before the group above start date 1995. Still the group who took the test in 92 were still waiting until 1997. Yet it looks like at least 2 new police test were offered and hires before a earlier test group. Anyone have the US attorneys number?

Why give the government an intrest free loan for an entire year so they can spend more of your money on mules and illegal aliens. Thats what you do when you get money back by way of a refund. A little back isn't a big deal. But a substanial amount means you need to review your witholding. I'm writing a check to the IRS for nineteen-hundred dollars, again. But I'm happier than than a pig in shit since I'm in a "D" unit and RYAN JUST GOT CONVICTED!!!!

I don't think the prosecutors will be defending criminals one day. I sorta know several current assistant U.S. attorneys for the N.D. of Illinois, and they all CAME from top law firms in NYC and Chicago.
I don't see them going back to firms or private practice. The Generation Xers aren't too keen on law firm life, and the line for young conservative lawyers who want to work for Fitz stretches out the door, around the block, and to the moon.
Which is to say, these aren't your crook county slobs. The people working for Fitz are the real deal.
Sabian, I should also add that Dan Webb (Ryan's trial attorney) is one of the most respected trial lawyers in America. The only person to win a conviction in Iran Contra etc.
He's sort of trippy to see as a speaker. He looks like a tall version of Elmer Fudd and comes across a bit as a downstate yokel. But he makes a whole audience feel like he's talking right to the, and speaks clear as day.
Which is to say, he is the best that money could buy. And the "surprise" appointment of a defense witness as a U.S. atty for the Southern District was the best that Rove and Kjellander could do.

Speaking of taxes, don't forget what happened to our fellow officers, Rich Barber, Keith Fuelling, and Chris Lenti last year with the tax fraud indictments. From what I heard Keith suprisingly won his case at federal court, Rich took a plea and Chris is waiting trial.
I got my refunds, about $1200 for both federal and state.
I would have gotten back more, IF I had gotten my raises when we should have insted of getting that BIG RETRO CHECK.

Along those lines, anyone ever know what happened to the ex-copper who had something like 1200 CPD employees as clients in 1998? When I went in for MY audit, every cubicle around me at the IRS office by Ford City had coppers being interviewed. They told me that all of this guy's clients were being audited.
What ever happened to this guy? He owes me hundreds of hours of stress.

for a business that takes in almost all the proceeds in cash and keeps two sets of books...
remember that the I.R.S. pays a hefty finder's fee for information on such enterprises which results in a recovery of back taxes and fines...
with all the risks involved, lawsuits, beefs, no back-up, injuries not covered, better to work a legit side job.
