Wow. Speculation is running rampant in various comments sections that Cline is retiring shortly and the anointed one is none other that the current Chief of Detectives. What do our readers know that we don't?
The move would make sense, historically speaking. How many of the last few Superintendents have come out of that spot? Or the Bureau of Investigative Services as a whole? And it would tie into certain stories we've heard bandied about that some parties have been asking neighbors if they'd mind an unmarked car parked in front of a certain residence 24/7, because when someone gets named Superintendent, that's what happens.
It would also fit into Daley's image as a ground breaker of sorts, appointing minorities to high profile positions. Daley would love to be known as the first mayor of a large urban area to have named a minority female to run a major department. And it would shore up his sagging poll numbers and liberal credentials in minority communities, especially in light of the recent indictments, trials and scandals of white Bridgeport mobsters getting "minority" status for lucrative contracts and the rest of the good ol' boy network getting rich.

I heard that rumor also but as far as i know he signed on for three years when he became super.So he has 1 and a half years left.

If I was looking for a reason to retire, making that crazy broad the next Supt would certainly be sufficient. If Daley really wants a minority female to shore up his ratings, may I suggest Tina Skahill, she's at least competent and she's an attorney to boot. Not to mention that she is generally well-liked by most bosses and P.O.'s who know her and have worked for her.
Maher is Louis Giutierez' cousin. Need I say more. Yes, I do...she also has never used a pair of handcuffs in her life...except perhaps in the bedroom...but has shown over and over she has no clue regarding the job. After his big splash on Ch. 9 news last night about how the city had to pay the girl 10 grand and he had to pay 50 grand for the "nudie" pictures he took of her a few years ago, I think he is the man for the job. You can be promoted from Call Back to 35th and Michigan right? Oh wait, the girl is now pursuing criminal charges, will that hurt his chances??
Cause his Mom is a former DC who now has another sweet city job and his Dad was a Sgt in the D. His old lady is a district manager so you know there is clout in the family. But I'm sure he made Sgt. legit and it had nothing to do with "merit".....Guess they thought the payoff money was gonna take care of matters!!

No such place as call back.. ARS however does have several officers under indictment. Remember innocent until proven guilty? Or did you forget about that. Believe it or not it still holds. However obviously some people here know everything.

There are already minority female top cops in several major cities including San Francisco and Milwaukee.
Maher's resume has nothing in it to justify her being a legit exempt let alone a chief or superintendent.

I used to work in Call Back and I have no idea where you get this info from. Although I was on a different watch, word was if you wanted something done, you see Sgt. B. He was the one who would get it done. Try doing that with the other Sgts.

I did a recoup in ARS on 3rd watch, some of the worst sup's. the city had to offer. A good portion of 3rd watch admin. was a joke. Don't know if the 3 weak female watch sec. are still there but know they would screw cop's over. They would cut each other's throat just to sit at the desk. F#$k at any given time you could have more stripped Sgt's. than sgt's. in uniform. Place could be decent but way too much behind the scene game playin. Some good cop's down there and there have been a few good sgt's. The joint is into number of phone call's taken. A f@#kin quota they post and they play big time with the numbers. ARS is F#@KED UP, don't let anyone tell you different.
The people who have been to ARS in the last three years know the truth. everyone else is just listening to gossip that is ancient. The old place ain't no more. Like any unit there are some good bosses and some not so good and some good POs and some not so good. Mostly it is people trying to get along and get to a pension. and not crying because of one thing or another.

Adler is not a college. It is a school teaching professional psychology; in other words counselors. Their programs are at the graduate (masters and doctoral) only. The fact that you have never heard of it is meaningless, it is one of the best respected schools of psychology in the country.
I've gotta think the rumors are patently false and probably stem from the same rumormongers who said Starks was leaving. Remember that rumor? Phil will hit his three year mark this fall so I bet he sticks around until then.
Whether he'd leaving or not, let's hear some positive suggestions about who would make a good next supt. This will be the guy or girl that all of you will reduce to just another Daley suck up anyway, so lets hear your predictions.

FUCK HIM.. he should go to the penitentiary.

Second of all, I think many of us like minded types would never sell a ticket, or raise a dime for this THIEF.

Give us a break. The police counseling program at Adler was just created by ex-Cmdr Bill Powers for police officers who are not much more than CPD "peer counselors." There's nothing academic about it. Do you really think that a "Master's" degree in police counseling is going to be any better than a Master's degree in Social Justice from Lewis? But I suppose that it's pretty irrelevant, what with the current Supt. doing just fine with that credential. How about if some boss went to an actual university like Loyola / DePaul / UIC / NU / UC? I though not. Maybe the City Colleges could start offering a certificate program for CPD exempts? Now there's something for the ol' resume.

Ms. Maria Maher when she was Dep. Chief A/5 took the time out to walk into the restaurant my partner and I were having lunch in, while I was eating my food, to tell me to move my police car because it was half in the bus stop..on a day when there was no busses running that route on that street. After I was done chewing my food I replied "yes BOSS!" and backed the car up 3 feet. Hang in there coppers the city and department are destroying themselves! If you've noticed tac/gangs is not so desireable anymore and many teams are short city wide. God Bless!

The thief is ex-015th P.O. Tom Munyon .. his brother who works in 023 is strong arming people to buy tickets .. Perhaps all the exempts after the DOC meeting on 02 June will go straight to the FOP hall and buy tickets.

From what I've heard on the Sgt. Breimen incident, the complainant/victim admitted in open court, after receiving a settlement from both the City, that she made the whole thing up.
I don't know if its true or not, but if it is, he'll probably be back.

Funny, I heard there were no pictures, that too was a lie made by the alledged victim. If all you loud mouths want some credibility, and it's true what you are saying, let's see the photos. Just like I thought, you can't. You are sorry excuses for Police Officers.
If you want to know the police end of it the reports are not hard to find. Two things fucked B. up. He was fixated on writing her a parker. That was a saga in itself. And she had an excellent outcry witness that she contacted within minutes of the incident. The witness flagged down a passing Beat car and the ball was rolling within half an hour. Her story was pretty consistent throughout. She did say that she thinks CPD officers are corrupt. At some point the Public Corruption Unit from the States Attorneys Office jumped in and advised her & her lawyer to no longer cooperate with CPD. The SA's office ran it from there. Any police decisions were filtered down to Areas 3 & 5 from the "5th floor".
Just thought you guys would like to know that by the time the DOC meeting started yesterday, Maher was out of her mind due to this thread. Never saw her look so furious.
I sure hope none of this has been posted from Department computers, becuase the shit is about to hit the fan, and if you know how vindictive she is, she'll fight to the end to find out who posted each and every word here...including this. I don't know many exempts but I do know one thats the "real deal" and a helluva nice man and good guy to boot and thats Mike McCotter. If you ever met him and he didn't have his uniform on you would never know that he was an exempt.Never forgot where he came from or that he too once wore a blue shirt. He's the guy that should be the next Superintendent.
Adler is not a college. It is a school teaching professional psychology; in other words counselors. Their programs are at the graduate (masters and doctoral) only. The fact that you have never heard of it is meaningless, it is one of the best respected schools of psychology in the country.

Why does no one ever acknowledge the fact that these female police officers need someone to be whores with??!!! That someone is usually a male cop.
God forbid anyone calls into question the morality of these actions. Instead, the blame is planted firmly and solely upon the female, when instead it should rest equally upon both parties.
If you're a relatively good looking female on this job, you have few paths from which to choose. First, you can succumb to that which was alluded to above. Then you'll be branded a whore and, essentially, passed around. No matter what you do in your career, you'll only be known as a sexual conquest.
Second, you can actually conduct yourself in a manner more befitting to an adult-the exercise of discretion. Yet, not "dating" co-workers, bosses, etc. will get you labeled as a lesbian...nevermind that you may be in a hetrosexual relationship.
The third classification is multifaceted. If you are a female, are actually good at your job, and fend off the advances of male coppers then not only are you a "dyke", but you're one who "thinks that she can actually do the job as well as a man." As a result, you're rewarded with alienation, quieted whispers, and unsubstantiated rumors.
Finally, worse yet...when fellow female PO's are involved in the bashing. I'm sorry that you had such a difficult time when you came on the job before the advent of soft hold hairspray, but don't take that out on me. We should at the very minimum be civil to each other. I respect that you struggled but that struggle is still going on today, albeit not as extreme. Keep that in mind the next time you're tempted to judge someone-anyone.
