So, because 600 other people earn more than $100,000 a year, aldercreatures are supposed to get over $100,000? Maybe the lesson here should be there are too many people/bureaucrats earning too much money and there ought to be more than a few pay cuts?
At least a factory worker produces something tangible. A construction worker leaves behind evidence of his hard work. Even a ditch digger makes an impression upon the earth. What does a bureaucrat leave behind? Paperwork? Insane regulations of goose liver and fashion chic? Convoluted work rules and procedure manuals? And for this they want $100,000 a year?

This city is extremely top heavy; political patronage. They desperately need to trim the fat.
When I worked as a temp for Revenue, there were so many shortages in other depts., not to mention the sheer stupidity of the 311 operators. They dumped everything on us.
When we needed people on the phones, walkin's, etc., there were some black people in different depts who would get together in groups and bitch about how they were overworked, mistreated, etc because they are black. You had to listen to this shit while trying to work and be professional. They need to dump the worthless people in many of these depts. as well.
Our Mayor is a complete bozo. His focus is on art, dumb sculptures, bicycle trails, etc. We already have enough bells and whistles here, and need to improve oher areas!! Thanks to him, major businesses that employ several hundred people have moved N/NW of the city.
I have met a lot of people who are trying to make a decent living that reside out in my area, Englewood, Bridgeport, Bronzeville, that commute over 4 hours plus a day, because the jobs are not in our area. In fact, I'm temping and one of the other temps comes from Hammond, Ind. Had some great job offers out in Naperville, Lombard, Downers Grove, etc but the commute is extremely long and difficult in many of these places.
Next time you guys/gals are on yor beat and it's slow (hard to say, since you're short out here), look around and you'll see what type of businesses are on your beat! Especially anywhere in the southern part of the city, where it's cheaper to live!!

I would really love to see King Richard taken out of his 5th floor HQ in handcuffs on March 4th when he is arrested by the Feds ala Mayor Blase in Niles.
Why March 4th? Because that is the birthday of the City of Chicago. I could think of no better present to the City than to have that corrupt arrogant prick led out in cuffs on March 4th.

One thing the article forgot to mention was that the position of alderman is a PART TIME position!! And in addition to all the clout their "job" brings they also get a stipend! I doubt that their is one alderman or woman who works 60 hrs a week - get real. Its time for a referendum - limit their terms of office!!

Haven't heard anything like that. But IMHO, the instructors should share a burden of the blame for the lack of training these new recruits are receiving.

These so called servants of the people in Chicago,Cook County,and Illinois are like a uncureable cancer. In order to get rid of cancer that consumes everything in sight we need a total cleansing of it.We need to start by not continually re-electing these same politicians. Some these people have been in office longer than I can recall. We need to demand a referendum on the ballots on set number of terms in office.1# Two terms for Mayor,County President, and Govenor,2# Four terms for Alderman,County Commisioner,State Congressman, and State Senator.
We also have to take alot of the power the Mayor now has away. He should not be able to hand pick every head of departments ie;Police Superintendent,Fire Commisioner,School Board President, etc...They should submitt a Resume just like in the private sector and the best qualified person should be appointed by a majority vote of the City Counsiland awarded a non-voidable contract. That way the head of each department can serve the people of Chicago without fear of the Mayor giving him the axe for not doing what he says or demands.3# Demand a freeze on non-essential public work for a number of years until the budget is balanced, example;no more fucking million of tax dollars on fuking beans!!!!!4# A Federal oversight making sure the city is in full compliance.
After all this we can start the samething over in D.C. with all those whores in office there. Demand just cause for raising taxes,rising fuel costs,raiding pensions,social security,and on and on.... Bring on the revolution!!!!!!!!!!

Just wondering.......Is there a mandatory retirement age for all city employees? Or just Police and Fire? If not, Why not? I think there are many aldermen who are beyond 63. Or are they not considered employees of the city?
