No More FOP Picnics
A Kane County judge evicted North Pole Corp. this week, ruling in favor of land owner Sterling Bay, a Chicago development company. North Pole Corp. owner Hugh Wilson agreed to sell off the assets to pay Santa's Village's debts, estimated at more than $170,000.
An October auction is scheduled by a company specializing in amusement park, circus and museum auctions, Wenz said. The Galleon, a Ferris wheel, merry-go-round, two roller coasters and the trademark Snowball ride will all be auctioned off, he said. The original buildings, built in 1959 of California white cedar, will remain. The auction will be open to the public.
Barring a Christmas miracle, Santa's Village will be no more.

That is just so sad. What a great time we used to have there with the kids. Pretty safe enviorment for all the families, not opened to the public, small enough so not to get too exhausted. Real shame it's closing.
Thanks Santa's Village for all the great memories.
Santa's Village F.O.P. Picnic was always an awesome time. But as years went by it got worse and worse. Coppers abused it, like everything else. Instead of bringing your immediate family and maybe a cousin or uncle/aunt and his/her children; ignorant bonehead coppers started bringing 12,15 then 20 people. We'll never forget about the school bus full. Ahhhh! I'll never forget about seeing the ignorant bonehead coppers leaving their garbage behind. Changing baby diapers on the very picnic bench where our food was layed out and then leaving the soiled diaper behind. The copper whipn his JR out and peeing on a tree because he was too lazy to walk 200 ft to the port-o-johns. The gangsta rap music being played out of a boom box with F/da poleeze and F/dem bitches n hoes, all while our children were a stone throw away. How about the woman that walked up the volunteer at the ice cream line and demanded 20 ice creams. She then went off on the poor volunteer when she said "I can only give you as many ice creams as the number of people you have with you here in line". Needless to say the woman threw a fit screamn' racism. How about the two female coppers dukn' it out saying "he my man, no !@#$ he be with me" right in front of everybody including all of our families including little children. How embarrasing! The list and stories goes on and on. I'll miss Santa's Village but I and many others won't miss all the stupidity. I hope they come up with a new location and Lodge 7 needs to lay down "strict" rules and they need to be enforced. Have a nice day - Stay safe out there!!!

Im old enough to remember Riverview(now the fight'n 019:fight'n??? yea right), and why it really closed...................
Ever since the FOP had the picnics and the golf outings, the end result was the picnic was a roaring success, numbers wise compared to the golf outing. The picnic was more fun and it was free, except for the food. It was for the kids. The picnic was the ONLY DAMN THING FOP has ever done for us.
Is this the end? Are we in luck? Is there a bigger story here? How will FOP survive if they cannot have this monumental fiasco every year? Maybe they will just go away and we will be better off with out them.
Perhaps FOP could buy Santa's Village with our dues money or from other sources of revenue they generate from indivduals. Better yet, Donahue and Company could cut their salaries in half, since that's all they are worth, and pay cash for the property
Santa's Village. Where you leave your stuff on your blanket or chairs to take your kids on some rides & while you are gone, some morons go thru your stuff & eat the food you brought for your kids.
So you ask around and SURPRISE! It was people aho look just like the ones who caused Riverview AND Old Chicago to have to close up. Only these ones were supposed to be ours.
OMG, Riverview and Old Chicago.
Riverview used to a nice place but got trashed. Old Chicago, went there once and had a HUGE headache from all that indoor screaming. That place became trashed, too.
If you pay lot of $$$ to get in you can usually get rid of the unwanted element. Anything cheap or free, you're asking for it.
I went to Santa's Village once with my kid. At the picnic area we were all sitting on top of each other like sardines. Also, people are pigs when everything is free. You could also see that some families were HUGE or perhaps one too many cousins and play aunts were there. One time is all I could take. I'd rather pay my way for a decent day out.
Can someone answer why our Union has a line in the budget for expenditures that lists the golf outing costing us several thousand dollars!!?? It costs $350 a foursome to golf in the outing. What is that money paying for if the Union is spending thousands on the golf outing??? Hey Harej look into that will you?????
Yeah, I'm really gonna miss FOP Freaknik...I mean picnic. I took my kid there ONCE and realized I could have saved the gas by taking him for a tour of my work district (015).
What is that golf money spent on? I mean, $350 a foursome should take care of everything! WTF? I think they're so used to stealing big that they don't bother hiding it well when it's small time skim. Arrogant, greedy jagoffs!
