METRA used to be one of the safer police gigs you could get. Not anymore I guess. Has there ever been a METRA PO killed in the line of duty before this? My prayers go out to his loved ones and his fellow METRA PO's. Stay Strong.

Just awful that these 2 young children are left without a father and a wife without her husband! It's been a horrible 48 hours in law enforcement - www.opmd.org reports on the SIX officers killed in the last 48 hours. From Arizona, to Ohio, from Illinois, to Florida. And the Florida officer was a K9 handler whose dog was also killed! Just a sad day for police everywhere...

Terrible that this happens and it barely makes the news.
This world needs to get it's priorties straight.

God bless this officer.

May the lord comfort his loved ones and partners in this very dark hour.

The rest of us: Get out there and find the MF that did this.... Time to open a can of whup-ass, and make sure that even this criminal's dead relatives feel our wrath.

GOOD HUNTING!

Even if Harvey PD catches the killer, the gun might go "missing" on the orders of the corrupt Mayor Kellogg. A complete state takeover is needed there!

Godbless the P.O. and his family.

When will the pendulum swing back? When will we be allowed to be the Police again? This Metra Officer assinated! This prick in Colorado sexually assaulting young girls and killing one. We are the authorities! We must show these sick individuals that if they go to a school and make a threat, they don't see the next sunrise. They may be nuts, but they're not stupid. When they see the news photos of people who entered schools with threats, assaulted Police Officers, and want their 15 min of shame, covered on the ground with a sheet, they'll get the message. You don't see this shit in other countries where they don't play patty cake with bad guys. It's time to address these real problems with real solutions. Stay safe

Tom was a class act, as a recruit, Riverdale copper, adn as a Metra Officer. His death leaves a huge void in his family, his community, his department, and in the law enforcment community. There is a special place in hell for the cowardly killers. May they rot for all eternity.

A little reminder on the Metra copper shooting.

At this time we do not know the details surrounding the incident. Until we do, BE CAREFUL!! Watch where you sit and scan every target walking by. If you have to park, do it where you can see as much as you can. We don't know if it was random, a target, or spree killing. Remember, not everyone likes us.

Everyone working the case, good luck and god speed in finding the shooter.

My heart and sympathy goes out to his family, friends, and people who love him. My he rest in peace.

If there is anything good that comes of a cop's death its that others learn and reenforce their training.

I think for every cops that's killed two to three others avoid death because of lessons learned.

Officer Cook, rest in peace. I pray for his family recovery from this nightmare.

Be safe. Watch eachothers backs and let's go home every night.

Next May 13-15 in Washington D.C. when Tom is again remembered, his family deserves to see row, upon row of ILLINOIS Law Enforcement Officers standing at attention in front of the Capitol [15 May] proof positive to HIS family of OUR commitment to them to..." Never Let Them Walk Alone!"

Stay safe my brothers and sisters and continue to remember and respect that "Thin Blue Line."

My folded flag stained with their tears,
We only had those few short years
The badge no longer on my chest,
I sleep now in eternal rest.

There hasn't really been much info released about this shooting. I understand that the Metro copper was shot in the back of the head while seated in his SQUAD? Looking at the video of his squad on the news, it didn't appear that his rear windshield was shot out. Possibly he knew his attacker? Did he have the bad guy sitting behind him in the car? Just waiting to see how this all unfolds. This kind of shooting leaves more questions to be answered. Pray for the officer, and his family.
Hope they catch the bastard soon.
The $25,000 reward should loosen some lips if anyone out there knows anything. Stay safe, all.

"The Final Inspection"

The policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining.
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, policeman.
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My church have you been true?"

The policeman squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who carry badges
can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
and at times my talk was rough,
and sometimes I've been violent,
Because the streets are awfully tough.

But I never took a penny,
That wasn't mine to keep....
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around
Except to calm their fear.

If you've a place for me here,
Lord, It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't.....I'll understand.

There was silence all around the throne
Where the saints had often trod.
As the policeman waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in hell."

Rest in Peace, Officer Cook

Cook was a solid dude. He served almost a decade in the 82nd Airborne prior to becoming a cop. Some of his accomplishments were being Airborn/Air Assault qualified, jumpmaster, pathfinder, Ranger as well as earning his expert infantryman's badge. He was "Good to Go". It was a pleasure to serve with him!

Severe problems in Harvey, Dixmoor and Stickney. The type that put the honest officers lives on the line in those areas.

Stay safe...

YEAH

Stickney is a hotbed of corruption. Town Official Dora Madsen who pleaded guilty to stealing funds also made a statement about Zitek stealing money from paid parking tickets, and paying CASH to his cops working security. Many of those cops also use their police jobs to do their private errands all the time, shopping @ the mall, etc. instead of patrol.

Officer Hare sued and WON, and I hope the Feds investigate that place.

If you think they're so great, they must of dropped off a new Weber Grill or something to you while they were on duty while they "helped" you out.

LEO MEMORIAL, THE IDIOT; So a convicted thief says something about a policeman and we should believe it?

John Zitek was a wounded CPD St. and the real Police. Something that you would know nothing about.

As far as somtone "winning" in federal court", it has no bearing on the truth. Just a jury of idiots.

Go back to your phony "memorial scam" and quit stabbing good policemen in the back.

Police in Stickney were paid "Cash" for working a side job? Yikes, I have never ever heard of a copper doing that before. Leo, are you really that stupid or oooooh, never mind!
