- Here's one for ya. The 005th dist. tact team has been directing traffic on Sunday for his church for approximately 3 1/2 -4 hrs. for over a year after Sgt. Clifford/Meeks incident. His church is the only church on Sunday that gets this waste of manpower. Don't the City use the "Green Coats," for that kind of shit? And how many shootings/Homocides were there on Sunday while this was going on? CHECK OUT THE STATS! [sic - SCC]
We'll bet every reverend worth his salt (and those not worth their salt) would kill for this type of traffic control. And we'll bet that every taxpaying citizen ought to be more than a little peeved that they don't have this type of coverage for their neighborhoods.

this has been going on for almost a year the tact team has to direct traffic for meeks church. the people are allowed to park wherever they want to in the areas residental neighborhood and dont even think of issuing a ticket. we get treated like valets by these people

And so, where is the media and public outrage regarding waste of Department personnel and resources? And, where is the media and union scrutiny (officer safety issues/working by themselves on 3rd and 1st watch?), inquiry, and criticism, regarding personnel shortages in some Districts (i.e., watch field units working, in some cases, half-staffed (about one-half of the expected cars on the street), starting their shifts with 20-50 "calls for service backlogs" (hello, media.....now called RAP - radio assignments pending - the modern version of the former "no cars available"; and OEMC prides themselves on prompt dispatch, assigning the calls promptly, and within "minutes" guidelines, to the field units, EXCEPT when a car receives 5 calls at the same time....OEMC can say, "Hey, we dispatched xxx% of our calls within xxxx minutes"; what the hell good does that do if it takes the assigned car almost an hour, if not more, to get to all of their assignments (and if the car gets tied up on arrest from one of the previously assigned calls, then all of the remaining calls "in the stacking" (i.e., the car didn't get there yet) need to be re-assigned, meaning that citizen callers are waiting 30 minutes, an hour, 2 hours, etc., etc.; your tax dollars hard at work!) And, what about Department personnel deployment, when tens/hundreds of officers are deployed to a certain area of the city, but they do not respond to routine radio calls....so District officers are still way behind in their work (and the citizens wait), while the extras (TRU?) ride around looking to arrest people for some minor b.s. (and the unit gets kudos for vehicle impoundments), or the extras sit on a street corner so the dope dealers don't deal (at least while the cops are sitting there; they're dealing a couple of blocks over, and will probably be back when the cops' shift is over).
And, why doesn't the Department publish an honest personnel audit (i.e., how many people work in each unit, and what EXACTLY do they do); are the personnel assignments in the Detective Division (i.e., in the areas) balanced based on workload? the questions continue....
Speaking of 005, guess who I saw after the DOC meeting standing outside of HQ? Commander Matthews, wearing his Commander I.D. Wasn't he demoted back to LT? What's up with this?, let me guess, the reverend or some politician called in on his and his gang banger son's behalf. What a fucking joke this department is with that, someone needs to ask probing questions about this.

Matthews has had is gold badge back for the better part of a month. Get over it. And I seriously doubt he has anything to do with using the tact team for Meeks's church traffic detail on Sunday. It's probably something that was going on before he briefly took over the hot seat known as COMMANDING OFFICER/005!!
It's also extremely unlikely that Meeks had anything with Matthews getting his gold badge back. In fact, has anyone noticed that the story has kind of died it's own death? I haven't seen any black leaders speaking about this incident on video or print; even Mary Mitchell hasn't said a word about it.
Word is, 005 is getting a new boss by the end of this month. And it won't be Capt. C Dubya!
there are two sets of rules in this city.
one group has to play by the rules (obey laws, pay taxes, get permits and be thoughtfull in their verbal expression) while another group makes up the rules as it goes along and if challenged simply projects the problem onto the challenger.
The report of Matthews at the DOC meeting is accurate. I couldn't believe my eyes...there he was, Commander ID proudly displayed for all to see, standing next to a young kid who was obviously his son. What balls. What a slap in the face to every copper on this department. And some people wonder why morale is at an all time low. SHAME on whoever let this happen.
What about the Tillman detail, The Tillman's brother's bank detail, the Tillman tree detail, etc...

Years ago when 911 was at 11th street they called it "STP" send the police!Whoever calls gets a beat car assigned irregardless if the job is utter bullshit or a non-police job.We've all gotten stupid jobs like little homie won't go to bed or do his homework yadda,yadda.I believe this policy started with Wilson and it just went downhill.I know a few suburban cops and I have a relative thats a dispatcher in the burbs and they assign cars at their discretion,if its a non-police job its handeled as such.But since we have a city full of mental midgets without an ounce of common sense we have to go and act like a play mommie/daddy and try to give some family value training to their simple ass lifes.It gets real old,but this is what the koolaid factory wants and so it shall be!And CAPS is a farce,when the federal money runs out it'll go the way of the edsel,and their the ones who tell the nibians to call!Go figure! All the ST, CT or any news channel has to do is send a reporter and photographer over for a few Sundays and see what's up outside of Meeks' church. That's how they first started reporting the hired trucks bs -- ST reporters watching the crews of trucks (with the names of businesses written on their doors) at City jobs sit on their lazy a$$e$. The pebble thrown in the lake has many ripples...
No doubt they’ll plead public safety because of the hundreds of cars, but you don’t need a PO for that, any traffic aide will do just fine.

GET OVER IT. Matthews's gold star was returned, and he's wearing it, as any Commander would. As far as Matthews being SEEN in Headquarters after a recent DOC meeting, He'S DETAILED TO HEADQUARTERS. Where else would he be? Many people are of the opinion that he doesn't need to be "in hiding" for anything. Obviously, the fact that people have seen him walking around in Headquarters says that Matthews must feel the same way. Many of the people who support the man are doing so quietly, but he has ample support for his postition in this debacle. When the investigation ends, it will be the official "last word" regarding this incident; until then, it would be wise for some of the more blatantly negative posters here to leave it alone. Matthews was a parent/husband long before he was a Police officer. Most people who know Matthews will tell you that he is a knowledge, very capable officer, and a gentleman. If and or when the official investigation ends, should there be any finger pointing as to who was wrong, I don't have any doubt that the person doing the finger pointing will need BOTH HANDS.

Hey 11:45, evidently Matthews was your clout. He is an embarrasment to the Department, acting like a typical animal that we as officers deal with daily, and he is an "exempt" member. I am a parent too, but when my gangbanger son get's locked up he's on his own. If I am going to bail his ass out I'm definitely going to go in and act like a human being, not a fellow gangbanger. The incident in 19 was not Matthew's first, he acted the same way in 024 when the same J/O kid got locked up there, I witnessed it. Once, I could say maybe you had a bad day, twice, there is no excuse and the Supt. did the right thing. The harsh reality is that his race has everything to do with him getting his gold star back, end of story. If you don't believe it then you need a reality check. Remember this is Chicago. Ok Matthews is a father, husband, etc., but should have had the brains as a commander to keep his wits in tact when his gang-banger son got arrested. There are "tactful" ways of handling issues in this department and out in the corporate world...and Matthews f*cked up big time.

Having personally been through an incident similar to the Mathews incident I told people this before. To the white people involved watch out and be careful the department is going to fuck you guys over and suspend you. Now I personally don't give a shit about the people on here that don't think this is true because I have seen the outcome of this shit and I have seen the suspensions handed down. Somebody will get fucked here and it won't be the mutt Mathews or his asshole offspring. Wake up guys when you gonna realize this job and the bosses all suck??
Remember stupid is as stupid does and if these people can throw the race card in they will! People are too afraid to be just human beings color will always be the trump card for weak people who can stand on nothing else. Who the hell is meeks to be rewarded with such priveledges? He's just another loud mouth using his race to get ahead! He makes good, hard working, educated, african americans look bad and ashamed to unfortunetly be thrown into the same bag of crap.
