The Most Dangerous Job

Lobster fisherman? Lumberjack? Chainsaw juggler? Nope.

A city worker with political clout.

Isn't this really like shooting fish in a barrel though? Didn't Skippy Jacobson come up with an annual series of city workers sleeping on the job? Or Pam Zekman's regular occurrences of people faking time cards, attendance sheets and the like?

Nothing was ever done about it, so voters long ago lost their sense of outrage. In fact, Chicagoans seem to take a perverse sense of pride in their corruption - or so the late Mike Royko use to opine on occasion. Years ago, the mayor's master stroke was making sure every ethnic group got their "fair share" of no work jobs and "no penalty punishment" should you or yours ever be caught misbehaving. And if the city keeps rewarding misbehavior, why does anyone think it would stop due to a series of newspaper articles?

One has to wonder where the line is to ever be drawn again since voters don't seem to care.

This pisses me off. A friend of mine is a a suburb cop and also does security survelliance for Insurance companies, etc. He video tapes these people (no audio) and I have heard some wild stories.

We need to demand change in our city, because as someone on this blog put it so nicely, Mayor Daley has turned this city into his own playground.

Ever since I have moved back, it's been a struggle and I'm not going to stay poor or struggle because Mayor Daley doesn't give a damn.

How about addressing the hundreds of medical roll abusers. There is a "hall of shame" out there with the CPD, too.

PLEASE DON'T TALK ABOUT THE POLICE DEPARTMENT, PLEASE. I'M BEGGING YOU.

This problem also exists within the Department..

In 1998 Michael Ceriale was killed by a gangbanger..

His asshole watch commander, Lt. M.B., then claimed he suffered from so-much stress because of his death that he could never go back to work and applied for and is receiving disability.

M.B. was not suffering from stress from Mike's death but rather than the higher-ups had found out he was a problem child and had moved him far from his residence to send him a message to cut out his BS. He went to his clout, whom he had done a great amount of political work for, the only Republican on the northwest side who could not help him out

M.B. is well enough to run his construction company and his real estate business but he still suffers from stress and cannot return to the Department.

Why doesn't the Pension Board do something about that?

The most dangerous job is FOP field representative.

Lt. M.B. had been in the Narcotics Section and then Deputy Superintendent Ruckrich had serious concerns about him and he was moved to a District.

That is when M.B.'s stress started. The Pension Board should investigate him! No one should use our heroes for personal gain.

You got to check out what 264k can buy you in the close suburbs. It's absolutely ridiculous that we have to pay more than this for a 1 bedroom condo. Our FOP sucks balls!

Don't worry IAD is on the case for medica abuse within the department. Ha Ha. That's like asking the fox to watch the hen house. The only people who are truly capable of abusing the medical are clouted on this job. IAD is a joke. I still believe the SOS scandal had to have been bought up by the feds. The masters of Chicago city government don't stop corruption. They are corruption.

Hey Malcolm, I AM pissed, so cut the crap with the racial bullshit. Burke cannot even answer the Times questions let alone give a good reason why he is allowing this matter, and everyone is passing the buck.

These lazy asses need to get back to work if they're cleared, which I'm sure is the majority of them.

Besides, the late Mayor Daley hired many of his in-laws and Bridgeport/Hamburg Club buddies, and many of them also didn't do jack either.

History, repeating itself...

They should all be fired!!!
They should all be in Jail!!!

However...leave it to you to play the race card.
If it makes you feel better, Fuck those cracker-ass mother fuckers. I hope they all die in Jail. They make my race look bad. Those bastards. Kill whitey!

There, feel better Malcom?

TO: Malcolm

There is no outcry because us white people will for the most part (and yes there are exceptions)realize that what our fellow whites did was wrong. This flies in contrast to your fellow blacks who can have their hand in the cookie jar while on tape with 100 witnesses and claim whitey made them do it. We know how to take responsibility, your people do not.

THE MOST DANGEROUS JOB: Probably being an alderman. Just think, there are 50 of them and at least one goes to jail almost every year.

Actually they are part of an on-going criminal conspiracy .RICO

Why not publish the names of EVERYONE, yes police and fire too, who are supposedly ill or injured but still being paid.

Let them face their tax paying neighbors every day and explain why it's right.

Wait til they show the bullshit that is going on in our own medical section. Lazy cocksuckers of all races, both sexes, who want nothing more than to collect a check for no work.

We have great medical benefits. Imagine if you got hurt really bad and needed to lay up for nine months. Right now you can, and won't miss a check. But the lazy asses who abuse the hell out of the system are going to be its undoing.

Publish the names of POs on disability? Why should POs on disability be humiliated because a few maybe faking it? Back in the day POs looked out for each other. That was back in the day before I was disabled by injuries received in the line of duty. It was no glamourous injury like being shot. I have no visible injury. One day I walked into the medical section and they told me my time was up, turn in my star. They didn't offer me a light duty job. They didn't offer me anyones job sitting behind a desk. They just told me to prepare for a hearing. At the hearing I was granted duty disability. I can truely say that I take no pride in my injuries and woud not want my neighbors to know just so they can try and catch not "being disabled". I know a lot of POs think I have it made but,I don't. I still have to live in the city. There are no raises until your income dips to 60% then you stay there. I've bounced around from job to job. They don't last long. Sometimes my injury was the cause, sometimes it was just an embarassingly bad job. Sitting at home all days sounds like fun but, its not. I have no data to back this up but, I'd bet that the percentage of POs on disabity who become clinicly depressed is astronomical. If someone from the Sun-Times followed me around they'd probably get a picture of me doing something strenuous. My house still needs to be maintained. It would be humiliating to me and my family and I bet I'd be ripped to shreads on this blog but, there's nothing I could do about it. There came a point when I decided that I just have to live my life. Absolutely the worst part of duty disability is the way I'm treated by CPD officers. I've been stoped for traffic violations a few times. Inevitably when I show my duty disability ID (you did know that there is a duty disability ID didn't you?)I'm told to produce my license. I've been asked what my injury is because I look fine to them. Frankly, my injury is none of their business. I've also received safe driving lectures. How about just a "have a nice day"? Does humiliating one of us make you feel like a bigger person? You probably think that this is no big deal but, I gotta tell you it hurts. For these same reasons I no longer go to retirement parties. We are still Chicago Police Officers and deserve to be treated with the same dignity and respect that you would show any other PO.
