Hey Look! Mary Mitchell Junior!

Anyone catch Dawn Turner Trice's column in Monday's Tribune? She accuses the police of responding too slowly to calls in the 007th District. Calls across the street from the station no less.
  • When Joyce Muschamp's basement was burgled in the wee hours of Oct. 2, she was disappointed that her neighbor's presence across the street failed to discourage the offenders. Her neighbor's lights were on all night. To make matters worse, the neighbors didn't see or hear anything. And when she called them about the incident, they never even came over.
  • Wonder why Muschamp has sore feelings? You should know that her neighbor is the Chicago Police Department's Englewood District station, located at 6120 S. Racine Ave. Since January, she has called the police for several incidents--ranging from the fairly mundane, such as neighbors blaring loud music, to the burglary--to little or no avail.
  • You want to improve the neighborhood," Muschamp said. "But after a while, what sense does it make to call the police at all?" That's a good question, but a sad commentary, suggesting that if you live in a community such as the embattled Englewood neighborhood, and your emergency isn't a biggie, then police service is relegated to optional.
How about that? "Optional" police service. Way to slam the police.

Well Ms. Turner, maybe instead of accusing the police about "optional" service, you ought to direct the light of your curiosity toward the manpower shortages citywide. Ask why Englewood is running 30% or more down cars during the midnight hours? Ask why two police Areas comprising nine police Districts were running 4 and 5 officers deep to "Disturbance" calls over the past three days due to credible death threats on officer's lives. Ask why everyone who can is bidding out of Districts like 005, 007, and assorted other locations around the city.

And stop trying to be Mary Mitchell with her pretend concern for the poor and downtrodden and anti-police agenda. We have enough hacks in this town.

Ask her also why citizens call police for service for matters they could settle themselves.

The community gets the Police that they ask for.........the 007th District community objects to any type of policing...........except when they personally feel underserved....the community knows who is selling dope....who has the guns.....they don't give them up.....the police are suppose to act like their personal attack dogs.......you want crime solved in your neighborhood.....start turning the bad guys in.....

Worked in 007 for 6 1/2 years and I'll say this...........the citizens of englewood get the best police service out of any district in the city period. At times you had cars fighting each other to get to a man with a gun call or a burglary and god forbid you fight the police. The best back up, not always the greatest bosses but some of them sure came close, very close 3rd watch, everyone was tight. Its an insult not only to anyone who was ever a worker there but also the Police there now. My days of 007 are over but those were the best times in my short career so far. Many police have got shot, stabbed, beaten, broken bones and too many insults thrown and spit at them to agree with the horseshit contained in her article. Why doesnt this lady worry about other important things you know like how no one ever see's the shooter, or the dope boys, or her own people destroying her neighorhood! Sorry but we're sick and tired of being your referee's, parents, mom, dad, doctors and overall problem solvers. Be safe everyone and for my englewood brothers (or rangers if u prefer) take care, be safe and continue to kick ass and take names!

ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME????
They can't "settle" ANYTHING themselves. Not even their kids. then get pissed off when we open the oc spray on em at 79th and Lafayette cause about 200-300 of the little assholes are out of control. Then there is my favorite call "6xx, can you handle the domestic 81st and anystreet in 006, trouble with the 12 year old"

12 YEAR OLD?!?!?!?!?

Like I said, they can't settle anything.

The Democratic party and people like Jessie Jackson and Mary Mitchell do not want them to be able to "Settle" anything. This would mean that they would have to "think" for themselves. Thinking for ones self is a no no when you are a democrat. Your elected democratic leaders and self appointed spokesmen will do the thinking for you. They know that once the masses start thinking for them selves that the democratic party would lose 90 percent of their voters and people would not read Mary and yellow journalists like her.

Do any of these "concerned" reporters live anywhere near these places? Hell no!!! It's easy to throw stones and cast aspersions in order to rile up the natives but who the f**k are you?! We go into these places every day in the hopes of making a difference. You throw around your clever rhetoric from the mean streets of Winnetka-West Winnetka...west side. Wow. Make that a half caf frapachino...to go

Is the even one normal person with a newspaper coulmn in the city?

It seems that every one of them in both papers is a certified whining liberal.

No wonder the readership of both papers in chicago is in the tank.
