Let the Games Begin

Give the dems and inch, and they grab their foot and stick it in their mouths. Case in point:
Amazing. These people run around, screaming about an illegal war, losing the peace, comparing US troops to nazis, terrorist prisons to gulags and within hours, literally HOURS, they are already letting the mask slip from their far left moonbat ideology, laying the groundwork for an ignominious withdrawal from the central front in the War on Terror.

You thought it was bad after we left South Vietnam? Iraq will look 10 times worse overnight if we pull out without sufficient Iraqi security forces in place.

I didn't think it was bad when we left Vietnam. I thought it was bad when we were IN Vietnam. Like this bullshit war, it wasn't the soldier's fault. They did their duty valiently. The politicians were to blame and still are. Anyone who still believes Iraq is central to the war on terror needs to stop drinking Bush kool-aide for just a little while. WMD? Where are they? Oh, they were moved, I forgot.
It just isn't central to anything except a pack of lies. Iraq drew precious needed resources from Agfanistan. It was, like Vietnam, a fisaco. Not of the soldier's making, W gave us this one. What a waste. If W had listened to his generals we might be out by now. Instead he listened to Rummy and Cheney. He wasted his presidency on it. Too bad.

We are trying to teach these people something they don't even want. We are gonna have out hands full this time. Good luck to all of us.

Seems like people can get along after all:

From CNN.com

The trade agreement is one of the most comprehensive ever for the United States. It would give Vietnam the status of Normal Trade Relations (formerly Most Favored Nation status) and, by cutting tariffs, open the largest consumer market in the world to the country's exports. It would also pave the way for U.S. firms to make further inroads into the tightly controlled Vietnamese market.

In the first year of the trade pact Vietnam's annual exports to the United States would nearly double, to $800 million, according to the World Bank. Within four years 70 percent of Vietnam's exports could be heading for the United States, the World Bank projects.

All kidding asside SCC, I read Murtha's comments and I don't quite see what your issue is. Are you suggesting that the GOP's recent defeats should be interpreted as a VALIDATION of Bush's policies? Murtha merely reflects what voters across the country have made clear--end the US aggression in Iraq. Get out. Leave. They posed no threat to us and you lied to us about it. You're fired.

Why is the hard right having so much difficulty grasping this straight-forward repudiation of the Team Bush agenda?

The polls that I alluded to in earlier posts (which you mocked) showing growing public dissatisfaction with how the Bush ultra-nationalist have been driving the country over the cliff, should have warned you that Tuesday's outcome was inevitable.

Am I to now understand that those representatives the people have chosen to replace the craven emablers who handed The Decider our Constitution with which to wipe his ass, should ignore their demand for change and continue with business as usual?

Fellas, as I've already made clear, I don't have high hopes for the "opposition" wing of the Business Party now in power, but I'm certain of one thing: the neo-con fantasy of Pax Americana is as dead as Rummy's career. The faintly less-odious Democrats fully understand this. Why not you?

TO 12:15:34AM:
Your post is absolutely correct. I am a very conservative person who was against going into Iraq. However, now that we are there, if we leave without "winning" which is going to be pretty undefineable for some time, the terrorists will have an area to operate where there is no way for the U.S. or the the world to stop them. I am sure that no one is going to say lets go back into Iraq if we leave. Al-qaida says that winning this war is the most important thing to Islamic fascism. Leaving without stopping Iraq from becoming the safest place in the world for terrorists to operate is a challenge, maybe impossible but the efforts must be made. Maybe the best solution would be to set up a Guantanamo Bay kind of base that allows for a U.S. military presence in an extremely troubled but economically important area of the world. This would allow for a quick response if the need arises. Yes, we must protect this area because of oil. What would our country do without this source of oil. Our economy depends on maintaining an unfettered flow of oil from this region. We may not like this but it cannot be debated. Again, nice post.

Ask an Iraq war veteran how he or she feels about saying their time over there was a waste and watch the fireworks fly! Go ahead...Tell them that they did not accomplish anything to help the Iraqis. Tell them they are all wrong and evil people for serving their country and killing innocent insurgents. Tell them their buddies died in vain for a non-worthy cause.
I'm sick of all the cowards out there hiding from the front lines. All you non-serving Monday morning quarterbacks haven't a clue what it means to fight for your freedom. Quit spewing out your negativity towards these men and women. You think you have all the answers to fighting a war, but in reality, you are just modern day Playstation junkies who have played too many war games. Leave the battlefield to the real Commanders out there who are trying to keep their people alive. If you weren't there, then you will not be able to comprehend the experience. Unless you were tested by combat-you have no right to give these veterans a difficult time. All gave some...Some gave all. Never forget your fallen...
Coldtype, Malcolm X's Little Brother, Leftisbest and all you other sniveling police cowards (you know who you are)lay off the topic of whether the Iraq war is right or not? You should thank your lucky stars that there are brave men and women who proudly defend your freedom. Remember them over there this Veteran's day-standing watch while you relax without a care. You owe them at the very least-a silent prayer for their safety.
God bless the veterans and their families!
To my fellow veterans,

Happy Veterans Day.

I'm with you SCC. These Democrats are nuts and do not reflect the people that inadvertently voted them into power. Conservative Dems such as Webb in Virginia and even Bean here in Illinois are the ones that pushed the power to the other side of the aisle. What we are left with are the lunatics that run the Democratic party. Everybody stating that going into Iraq was a mistake fail to mention, or remember, that we were in Iraq since the first war. For 12 year the Brits and the US were flying sorties over the no-fly zones and having SAMs launched at our guys. Even though it gave the man from Hope cover every time he had "domestic troubles"; it was a situation that could not be maintained.
There are clear choices to be made in our foreign policy. We either go balls to the wall or we pull back everywhere. If you believe we have no reason to be in Iraq then we have no reason to be in South Korea, NATO, or, as I fear, Africa. One half of the country clearly has no stomach for nation building and this half sees America as the evil in the world. If this is the case and we do decide that someone needs our help. Then make it rubble and get out. If we could bomb Germany and Japan indiscriminately then we can bomb anybody.
I really like Rummy but he did make mistakes. Not all of them but some of them. The most glaring mistake of the last 3 years wass pulling out of Fallujah. Had we just leveled that dump in the first place I promise you things would be different today.
Hang tough guys and gals...
Be safe and thanks...

We cannot emphasize enough that the declining housing industry is the key to both the economy and the stock market, and that, in this regard, the news is all bleak. At a brokerage industry conference today, DR Horton CEO Donald Tomnitz stated that the housing market is in what he called a “death spiral”. In answer to a question, he said that publicly-held home builders were now building on spec just to sell the land they already own since it’s easier to sell the land with a house is on it rather than empty. Sell Spec! Another home building executive was asked whether he thought a bottom was in sight, and he answered it was not likely this year or next, but perhaps in 2008.

Earlier in the week Toll Bros. reduced its 2007 home delivery outlook due to a decreased backlog and slower market conditions. The company’s backlog is down 25% and orders down 55%. Cancellations are higher than expected. CEO Robert Toll said that “We continue to look for a sign that a recovery is imminent but can’t yet say that one is in sight.”

The only thing holding this up is pure manipulation by the crooks on Wall Street.

Exactly how many people have to die in Iraq, before these idiots realize that this war is a lost issue. If every terroists in Iraq should happen to pack up and leave by sundown, would that make it safer for the U.S. No, those terrorists are still alive and roaming the globe. This establishng a secure and relevant country in he Mid East is not even a pipe dream, its a nightmare, these people have been killing and maiming one another for eons. What will it take, another 1000 dead Americans maybe 2 or 3. Everytime you kill one of these guys there are two more willing and ready to take their place. Iraq had nothing to do with the first or 2nd attack on U. S, soil. So why have they been elevated to the most likely to attack. Staying in Iraq is a mere face saving apparatus by Bush, Cheney, and Rumfield. They placed our troops in a country that they thought would greet them with open arms and thrown flowers (remember slam dunk) and found out that those flowers were actually IED's and open arms were hatred and violence. The truth about the matter is that this government don't want militant muslims to control an oil producing country like Iraq, this country don't want a militant control Iraq to have a seat on OPEC with more moderate type muslims, this country dont want Iraq to really become a backer of militant muslims. What the politicians in our country did was to lie to its public for their reasonings for going to war and now they have found out that they couldn't fix it militarily. So all of those suppose weapons of mass destruction that couldn't be found (PLEASE don't respond about those pre 1990 rusted out weapons) imminent danger of attacks by Iraqi led militants have prove to be the mindset of some NeoCons coffee clutch. Whats really is fucked up is that IRAQ NOW, after our armed intervention can now be all the things that they were blamed to be, in the near future. Thank you Mr. Bush, Mr. Cheney and Mr. Rumfield

2. purchase your own gas mask and haz-mat suit, because the city aint got shit for ya (first responders)

Here are some counter-points to consider...

1.Viatnam was messed up because the troops were not able to cross a designated parallel to REALLY fight the war...perhaps because there were so many media members tailing them?

2.Iraq is messed up because we went in without ENOUGH troops, probbalby to satisfy lefty, and the media is over there hindering their abaility to really fight...its a war, let our boys do what they have to do, then we can get the hell out. Stop the expose reporting already... These pricks lived under SADDAM for years without bothering to revolt, so how can ANYONE complain about how WE act in a WAR?

3.How many terrorist attacks have occurred on US soil since the iraq/afganastan wars? Hmm. None. Coincidence? Maybe, but I think not.

There has been no terror attack on U.S. soil since the war began for a reason. For all the people who think this war is a waste of time quit and think of what had happened on 9-11. You were probably the same people saying we should go over seas and stop this terror from ever happening again. After Afganistan was found to be clean the troops went to the next in line of suppling the terrorist with money and a safe haven which was Iraq. Everyone of the soldiers who have served in this war joined the armed forces and knew there was a possibility that a war may break out. If they joined the armed forces just so they get money off their college tuition this is a way to pay it back. Quit bitching and whinning do the job, finish the job and then we shall say thank you. Remember this war is not being fought for us but so our children can grow up in a safer world.

The thing that all Democrats and even the majority our country don't seem to realize is that we are at war with radical Islam. They are insane and their hatred is directed at us (U.S). We are in a fight where most of us (U.S.) don't even understand what is going on. This is not a fight where killing one person (Osama Bin Ladin) will ever be enough. One could argue that our nations foriegn policy since after WWII, with our close ties to Israel, has caused the hatred, but I don't think it is fair to say that Bush started this war, radical Islam did.

I might not agree with everything that Bush does, but one great, and often lacking quality in our politicans, is that he will do what he thinks is right, regardless of the latest poll. Weapons of Mass Destruction, pish posh. We needed a second front in our war against radical Islam, so why not Iraq? Our President had the courage to see this, even if our "me, me, me" population is not capable of seeing it. Have we been attacked on our soil since 9-11? No, every 18 year old Muslim who wants to die for Allah only needs to walk to Iraq to accomplish his goal.

I thank God for our nation's soldiers and sailors. I think most of them don't feel like they are "stuck in Iraq", but are glad to have the opportunity to serve their county, even if it is basically populated by people who don't have the fortitude to see anything through to it's full conclusion. Just some thoughts.

The final outcome in Iraq is monumental. To believe a Democratic Iraq would not pivitol in a war on terror is shortsighted. Our tenative allies in Riyadh and elsewhere in the Middle East are a deck of cards wairing to fall. The monarchies are on the cusp of falling. A democratic country in the Middle East, would serve as a springboard for any other action we may deem necessary to take. Better to fight insurgents on foreign soil than here. Just think if we left Germany or Japan on its own. Accept it people, we are fighting a different war, one that has been going on for a while, but we didn't care till it hit here. Americans have bben killed by terrorists for decades. Open your eyes, and understand we are at a crossroad.

Well well well lefty. Finally coming around to the fact that Iraq ISN'T Vietnam?

First of all, your 150,000 civilian casualty number is bullshit. We've stated it at dozen times before. Stop using it. You quote it again and we aren't publishing your comment.

At the current rate of casualties, Iraq would have to last another 3 decades to come close to the military casualty rate of the Vietnam War. Thanks for pointing out that Iraq is probably the most successfully run war in terms of casualty rates and loses. Too bad you guys couldn't run on that - you had ot run on lies about "quagmires" and "losing the peace."

And the US Military was out of Vietnam 2 years before the Embassy was overrun - that helicopter evacuation photo is constantly misinterpretted.

The point of our post was the civilian number of casualties following the US pullout in Vietnam. Over a quarter of a million vietnamese perished after the North overran the South. And that doesn't take into consideration the million plus sent to "re-education" camps or the hundreds of thousands of boat people fleeing communism.

We pull out of Iraq, then Iran, Syria and the various terrorist organizations are going to make Vietnam look like a walk in the park in terms of dead, re-educated and refugees. Take it to the bank.

"Seems like people can get along after all" re: so-called US free-trade agreement with Vietnam.
- 11/10/2006 12:51:34

Hold your enthusiasm. The Vietamese are (once again) about to take it in the ass. Like the people of Mexico, Argentina, The Phillipines, Haiti, Brazil, Colombia, and all of Africa have discovered, the neo-liberal "free-trade" agreements are the recipe for a society's destruction.

Don't think so? Ponder what could have caused Mexicans to abandon their country in droves so soon after the Clinton administration rammed NAFTA down their throats in 1992. Anyone have a clue as to how radically NAFTA altered and devastated Mexican society? Here's a thought: if you want to know their experience up close and personal--keep cheerleading for Team Bush. If they get their way, we will all be living the "Mexican Dream".

For more on what that means, hit my link and read carefully of Free Trade Fantasies. Stay safe.

Doubter? Doubter? Is that you hiding under the bed again? When are you going to come out and engage me in debate?

I've searched your "blog" and discovered to my surprise that for one who takes such strident positions, you haven't attempted a single entry.

I've seached your feeble posts on this site for the smallest hint of a coherent argument, but can discern none at all. Instead of accepting my reasonable offer to explore the issues upon which we disagree in rational debate (complete with sources) you respond with petulant critiques on my grammar and spelling...on an informal blog site.

This is the Second City Cop Blog not an academic journal, but we can go there if you wish.

Lets try this again. I am willing to provide evidence and sources for the positions that I have taken on the following issues we've "discussed":

1. The US in Vietnam,

2.The Team Bush deceptions during the lead-up to aggression in Iraq,

3. Public dissatisfaction with the Team Bush agenda as reflected in opinion polls across the political spectrum.

4. Neo-liberalism and the danger it poses to democracy.

Got it? Good.

You're response to my quiry of SCC does not remotely approach the issues that I've raised with them. Rather than reflect upon and/or debate their implications, you chose to deflect. I believe the term is "intellectual cowardice".

Promise me this Doubter, the next time I raise an issue about which you don't feel sufficiently informed to comment--don't. Stay safe.

Why aren't more police supportive of the men and women overseas fighting for freedom? One would think that a majority of police officers in CPD are military? Why the disrespect displayed towards veterans and military personnel? I am just an outsider, but believe me, the entire nation can see your un-patriotic comments.
Just a thought...

Be more sympathethic to their sacrifice. GOD BLESS YOU VETERANS!!!

Here is what I love about this blog:

All you talk so much about how you are going to stick together and vote out Judge Sheean who let the Hatch girls go. The result: Sheean re-elected by and 82% margin. Unbelivable how little influence all of you have here. But that sure dont stop you from talking a lot of smack!

It's a county-wide race not a city one, how much influence did you expect? it also doesn't help when all the yes-men democrats vote straight ticket now does it? congrads, the "keep them fat and happy," strategy worked for you; keep the link cards and section 8 vouchers flowing and the SSI for being and alcoholic and they will continue to vote democratic.

"Coldtype, please don't post when you're drunk. What part of the Constitution did the President wipe his ass with?"
- Murphy40pct

The part where he authorized the illegal NSA wiretaps of American citizens without court oversight as per federal law.

The part were he put the writ of Habeaus Corpus--a mainstay of constitutional government since the Magna Carta--in a dustbin at the Smithsonian.

The part where he--with critical bi-partisan support--introduced legislation that (retroactively) absolved those responsible for violations of federal law and the Geneva Conventions (also a part of federal law since all treaties are ratified by the Senate and thus become the law of the land).

The part where he attaches "signing statements" to legislation passed by Congress which, in effect, tells the Legislative branch that the Executive will abide by those laws that he sees fit to obey. This of course, in dramatic contrast to the carefully designed separation of powers codified in our Constitution by the Founders. [Note: Bush II has issued more signing statements to legislation than any President in our nation's history].

Who knows, had events turned out differently on Tuesday, perhaps many of you who are so inclined (given the elasticity of your conscience) would be practicing your goose-steps in anticipation of the Decider's next assault upon our liberties.

Once again Murph, I address these and related issues in far greater detail on my own site. Stay safe.

I have the withdrawal plan, but liberals don't want to hear it. Bush goes to military leaders, has them come up with top 10, absolute positive targets of enemy strongholds, forget about if there are civilians, women, children etc. They are shields used by enemy and are sympathizers anyway. Bush then goes on Iraqi TV, with statement, "We give you your freedom to do with as you wish, since you don't want us anyway, but before we go, remember this, we gave you a chance at peace, we are superior in might and this will be just the beginning if we are attacked by extremists again. At that words, all 10 sights are erradicated off the planet by extremely powerful blasts, everything short of nukes. And then we leave...

The word insugent means people from other countries (Al Qyada). That right I forgot the Democrats say there are no Al Quada terrorists in Iraq and thats why the war was all wrong.

Have the Dems forgotten about 12 years of diplomacy and Iraq thumbing their noses at dozens of UN resolutions. Saying "fuck the world" again and again.

Its also amusing that all the intel during the Clinton years pointed to WMDs. Kennedy, Kerry, and others are on record saying the Iraqi's had WMDs etc. Most even voted for the "Bush War" but then they lose their nerve because it takes a little longer than a week!

Let's all get something straight, ok? Iraq is not a war. It is a police action in the most definitive terms. We "check convoys", search for "offenders and weapons", "investigate and arrest tose who commit terrorist acts", etc. We are asking the military to "search buildings" and do "street stops" on suspected terrorists. That's not war. War is meant to take ground, destroy enemy infrastructure and kill. We're not doing any of that in Iraq. This is Veterens Day...the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month...when the war to end all wars came to an end. Please, on this day of all days let's please remember what war is.

"Christ, if all Dems are as bright as you, we're in bigger trouble than we are now"

Kayteykakes,pateycakes...(am I responding to this fool?)

Oh well.

Poopy brain. Do you have an argument? Where have I ever left the impression that I support the Democratic Party? Have I not been clear?

Repeating now. Neither wing of the Business Party is without blame. One wing, the GOP, has proven itself so dangerous and inept that the American public has given it a well deserved pink-slip. The milder wing will now attempt to distance itself from the disastrous policies it tacitly supported.

The reason that the "opposition" party has been unable to present a viable alternative program to that of the GOP is because on FUNDIMENTAL ISSUES--health care, corporate welfare, the "defense" budget, "free" trade agreements, privatization of public assets, the War on a Tactic, and a future war of aggression against Iran--they both walk in lock-step. Arm-in-arm, busom buddies, soul-mates. Check the congressional record.

The Patriot Act (Orwell would have loved that term), the biggest F-You to the Constitution since the Sedition Acts under Wilson, had bi-partisan support. Barely a word of protest was offered. Nada. Most didn't READ the damn thing!

Did you see what I just did pateycakes? Doubter, are you paying attention? I presented an argument. That is the process by which one challenges the theory of another with evidence or analysis to the contrary. Notice, simple one, that the focus of my responses are always on the ARGUMENTS the challenger puts forth--never their grammar. To do so would betray the fact that I really have no position of my own (or at least one that I am capable of defending). It's the intellectual equivalent of shouting "your momma" during a debate.

Now, I've yet to see an argument from Doubter. The issues I've raised with him--remain unaddressed.

Pateycakes. Your contributions to this blog have been so inconsequential that I must confess, I've never paid much attention to you. Since you have interjected yourself into this debate, and Doubter has fled the field, I will direct to you the questions I presented to him in my earlier post. Enlighten me.

"...your 150,000 civilian casualty number is bullshit"

- SCC

So true SCC, it is "bullshit" because the number is over 650,000 now.

Here's some more "bullshit" since were're slinging shit:

The civilian death toll in Southeast Asia approached 3 MILLION deaths, thanks to the US killing machine.

As for rest of the fictions in your response to Lefty--

the commie north "overrunning" the South,

one million interred in re-education camps,

the "staged" US withdrawal,

and (most incredibly) the civilian deaths FOLLOWING the US "departure",

--these matters will have to wait for another day.

In one regard you are absolutely correct. Iraq is infinitely more important to the owners of our society than Vietnam had been. Controlling access to the world's energy region is, according to their moral compass, worth slaughtering far more than a few million. Stay safe.

How did I overlook you clown?

The elections were not all about Bush and Iraq? That's odd. Karl Rove would be awful miffed to hear you say that given the Herculiean effort on the part of the GOP to place the War On A Tactic front and center in the minds of voters.

Perhaps you presume that voters were unaware that Team Bush has been spending 300 million dollars PER DAY (with foreign debt) on a war of aggression against a nation that couldn't threaten its neighbors, much less the world hyper-power after a crushing defeat followed by 12 years of devastating sanctions. Sanctions that killed nearly one million Iraqis--mostly children.

Are you not the least bit curious about why the two nations of the Middle East which have been the victims of Iraqi aggression in the past (Iran & Kuwait) were not clamoring before the UN Security Council to save them from Saddam The Madman prior to the US attack in 2003? In fact, no nation on Iraq's border felt threatened by Saddam during the lead-up to US aggression. Note that the coalition of the "willing" (more like the bribed) included none of them.

How did it come to pass that Saddam is now being convicted and condemned for crimes he committed with our assistance? Oh surely you were aware if this! The horrific barbarities of which he is accused are no doubt serious and well documented, however, a small detail has been convienently forgotten. He committed these crimes with our assistance. Why aren't the newly unemployed Rummy and "Vice" President Dick Cheney--both of whom played critical roles in shielding Saddam from international sanction at the time--sitting in the doc beside him?

Any answers smarty pants?

Speaking of Joe Lieberman, were "local issues" the reason this war criminal's hand-maiden lost the Democratic Primary in Connecticut? The voters of that state beg to differ.

"stay on your own blog...oh I forgot...no one goes there"

Apparently you have.

Put down the Kool-Aid. Stay safe.

The lunch thing has been an issue long before 35th st was around. The order regarding lunches and personals states that people working inside may get up to an hour lunch at the discretion of their supervisor. This includes people who work inside in districts. The reason behind is that people working inside have to leave to go get lunch while those in a beat car are already outside and need less time for lunch. I know this is flawed logic but that is why this happens. I'm not approving or disapproving hour lunches, just explaining.

Hop over to www.iraqibodycount.com tiny brain. They actually do BODY COUNTS from morgues, hospitals, etc. Then they add them up. Their body count range is 47,000 to 52,000 attributable to military intervention.

Helpfully for tiny brains like yourself, they also take on the Lancet slanders so casually tossed around you and your ilk during the recent years.

Even MORE helpful, they provide a listing of all the names of the victims that you can print out and take to your protest marches.

Haven't you ever wondered how the Lancet got it's numbers? Or how it went from a quarter million to over half a million in barely 10 months? It took Saddam almost a decade to kill 300,000 of his own people - now we're expected to believe a liberal, commmunist, anti-war rag like the Lancet that pulls numbers out if it's ass by SAMPLING of all things?

Your numbers are off by an entire magnitude. The left may have won on lies - don't try to build a foundation out of them.

Another day when you can find some moonbat site that says we're wrong?

<1> The north did overrun the south - they "won," remember? They occupied Saigon - that kind of fits the definition of "overrun."

<2> If you have no idea of what the communists did to the south, we pity you. We truly do. 1 million in re-education camps is probably an underestimate.

<3> Staged withdrawl? We never said the picture was fake - just misinterpretted. US ground forces left Vietnam. They left two years before that picture, leaving behind only military advisers and embassy staff. As the South's army collapsed and fled to Saigon after two years, helicopters evacuated staff, dependents and everyone who could hitch a ride.

<4> Civilian deaths were huge following the fall of Saigon, which always seems to happen when communists take over. The Boat people, the slaughter of the Montangards, the aforementioned re-education of the south.

Come out from behind the curtains. The left won on Tuesday. Congrats. Now drop the mask and show everyone how proud you are of the last war you guys ran for America.

I'm sure you know what's comming SCC. I have to give you credit though, you take a good beating and just keep swinging.

My earlier post was just the warm-up SCC, I haven't REALLY begun deconstructing your fantasies--the same fantasies rejected by the voters. As I've stated it will have to wait for now.

A brief preview, however, is in order:

1. "South" Vietnam was a useful fiction of the Eisenhower/Kennedy/Johnson administrations. Diem's gangster regime was without popular support, but the exact opposite was true of the NLF.

This fact was well understood by American war planners. Don't believe me? They left clear documentary evidence of their concerns in the Pentagon Papers. Have you read them? You might want to bone up for what's comming.

2. There was nothing for the NVA to "win" in the south except for the expulsion of foreign troops. We need not tarry over the matter of who the foreigners were SCC, for I believe even you can comprehend that the NLF cadres and the NVA could not possibly have been foreigners in their own land.

3. Here are some important questions for you:

I. What was Operation Wheeler Walla, and what were its principal aims? Why did it become neccessary?

II. Why were the peasants of "South" Vietnam the primary target of US forces? What was the significance of relocating hundreds of thousands of peasants from the countryside into "pacification" camps? Why was this so important to US strategy?

III. How does a guerrilla campaign, any guerrilla campaign, sustain itself for 21 years without massive popular support? Why wasn't the NLF undermined--as the Nazis in Occupied France were--by the people we were determined to "save" through carpet-bombing? How does all of this relate to question number 2?

What significant effect did the US Pheonix Program have upon the final makeup and nature of the forces the assumed control of Saigon in 1975?

It goes without saying that the history of French colonialism in Indochina as well as the chronology of events following the 1954 Geneva Peace Accords will play heavily in our debate.

Sources:

The "moonbat" web sites that I will mine for sources will include the archived resources of Fordham and Yale Universities among several others, including the US State Department Archives--all available on the web. I sure hope you fellas know how to research, because I do (and have).

"The left won. Congrats"
- SCC

One final request SCC. Please stop equating the Democratic Party with the Authentic Left. The Left won no such thing on Tuesday. Much, much, more later. Stay safe.

Here you go finally the voice of reason..........in regards to the election results Home > InkWell

Inkwell Archives

What Tuesday Was--and Wasn’t
James Taranto sums the day’s results nicely in OpinionJournal:

"It was not a referendum on Iraq. One of the most pro-Iraq lawmakers in Congress, Sen. Joe Lieberman, ran as an independent and trounced anti-Iraq Democratic nominee Ned Lamont. Meanwhile, of the five remaining Republican members of Congress who voted against Iraq’s liberation, three lost: Sen. Lincoln Chafee (R.I.), Rep. John Hostettler (Ind.) and Rep. Jim Leach (Iowa). Only two anti-Iraq Republicans will return to the 110th Congress: Reps. Jimmy Duncan (Tenn.) and Ron Paul (Texas).

"Coldtype...you are still a pseudo-intellectual jackass"

-The Mystery Man

Hello chump. Thank you for illustrating my point so well. When one can only produce ad hominem personal attacks in response to another's argument, it serves as tacit acknowledgment of one's insecurity.

You see Mystery Man, I realize that you are unprepared to debate the ISSUES I've raised so instead you metaphorically shout "your momma" and wait for applause--like my 5 year old.

From one "pseudo" intellectual to a lesser one, a bit of advise: If you really don't have an argument, merely screaming louder will not alter that fact. Try reading a bit of history. Turn off the idiot box.

In three posts you have managed to produce this in response to my arguments:

"By the way Joe Leiberman was elected...(then crushingly)..jackass"

That's it. In three posts. And even in this response (such as it is) you miss my point entirely. In response to your earlier assertion that the "elections were not all about Bush and Iraq..Joe Leiberman come to mind?...elections are about local issues", I responded that the "voters of that state would beg to differ".

My response was quite reasonable in light of the fact that Leiberman, after 18 years, lost the Democratic primary to a challenger who ran on an anti-war platform. This by definition was a NATIONAL issue. Leiberman campaigned with support for the Team Bush agenda on his chest, while Lamont countered that that was the just the problem.

At no point did I allude to Leiberman's victory or defeat, for that was not the issue. The issue was and remains whether or not the voters were motivated by national concerns. The Bush administration watched the Senate race in Connecticut with keen interest and even overtly campaigned for Leiberman--its staunch ally in the War on A Tactic. Ergo the matter was completely national in character.

Beyond the above example, the sum total of your posts amount to the following:

1. Your curious obsession with my personal life.

2. My blog (which you can't stop visiting) and its general lack of worth.

3. My mental faculties (or lack thereof).

In response to my comments or those from the sources on my site you can only manage:

"you bore the shit out of people at parties" (Relevent to what exactly?)

or,

"you twist the facts to suit your agenda" (What facts? What is YOUR interpretation of those facts? If I'm wrong, in what way am I wrong?)

and finally,

"spout your views all you want, at the end of the day its still shit".

That's it. That's all you have produced in response to the public's clear repudiation of the Team Bush agenda. No analysis. No theory. No argument. Just....your momma.

Once...again. I will repeat the offer I've made to Doubter and to Pateycakes (with sugar on top):

I will engage you on the ISSUES. If you have alternative views on the ISSUES, present them.

If those on the Authentic Left whom I have featured on my site such as Chomsky, Edward S. Herman, Michael Parenti, Paul Street, and others are "wacked" then identify the weaknesses of their positions.

Calling those of us on the Left silly names is not a substitute for analysis. You will notice that though SCC and I are diametrically opposed on a host of fundimental issues, they reserve the meat of their attacks for my ARGUMENTS and are unconcerned with who does or does not invite me to parties.

Mystery Man. I'm waiting...

Don't be so sure of what the people in Iran want. They want to live free and not worry about being killed by dictators for one reason or another. Same as those in Africa, Bosnia, Korea and still Nam. We should thank our lucky stars we live here and we should fight to keep it that way.

Kayteykakes,pateycakes...(am I responding to this fool?)

Oh well.

Poopy brain. Do you have an argument? Where have I ever left the impression that I support the Democratic Party? Have I not been clear?

And then.........Hello chump. Thank you for illustrating my point so well. When one can only produce ad hominem personal attacks in response to another's argument, it serves as tacit acknowledgment of one's insecurity.

Guess your very insecure...coldtype..although my best guess is psycopathic and narcisstic......why will no one engage you in your bullshit....hmmm lets see....besides all your snide little jabs....my sainted grandmother once told me ," don'nt try and teach a pig to sing...you waste your time and it annoys the pig..........Go away coldtype...no one here likes you........

Once...again. I will repeat the offer I've made to Doubter and to Pateycakes (with sugar on top)

Coldcase, has anyone ever told you that you're a pain in the ass? ;)

A time to clear the air.

I,ve reviewed some of my comments on this thread, particularly regarding Kateykakes, and must confess that they go too far. My (admittedly unfair) characterizations of her are not in keeping with the standards I've set for myself in past debates on this blog and others. I was out of line.

Mystery Man makes a (rare) valid point when he illistrates the hypocrisy of my chastizing him for substituting personal attacks for arguments during a debate, while being demonstriably guilty of the charge myself. Thank you mysterious one.

Ms Kayteykakes my apologies.

Mystery Man I still await your arguments.

Welcome back Doubter. I'm gratified to see that you've finally agreed to do what I have ask of you all along: debate me on the issues.

I will address your assertions regarding Team Bush's assault on our Constitution and the rule of law in my next post. After that I've got to keep that promise I made to SCC (how are your studies comming fellas?).

Until then stay safe.
