Long Night Ahead
Looks like the dems will be taking control of the House. The only question is how big will the margin be. It will also be interesting to see how beholden the dems are to the left wing nutjobs. The Democratic Underground and Kos are already calling for impeachment hearings, raising taxes, cutting off troop funding, raising the minimum wage - in short, wrecking the economy and surrendering in the war on terror. Watch for republican obstructionism to start in earnest and dems to scream about the tactics they've been using for 6 years being used against them.
Like we predicted - gridlock.
We still don't see the Senate falling at this point. We'll have to see where it goes tomorrow. We predict more than a few lawsuits on both sides.

A very disappointing upset here in Pennsylvania. With Santorum now out, I just want to go kick the shit out of someone. Any Dem will do.

Long night, more like a long day. Today I found out who stopped by my home a few months ago, asking people around for me by name. His name is David Foley and seems like maybe he works for the city, and tries to get votes for Frank "The Invisible Man" Olivio and Madigan.
When I arrived at the polling -place, he and some other equally squirrely man were outside. Foley followed me in, listening for my name and address, and then noting my name again. He offered to help me with the computer system since I didn't want the paper. That's when I asked, WHO ARE YOU?????
He handed me his business card and as soon as I saw Olivio's name, my face showed how pissed off I was. He left out the door.
This voting system is a complete joke. I could have had my cat registered with no ID checked, my 2 dead dogs, etc.
Giannolis (sp?) was voted in, thanks to his mob ties with D'Arco, Stroger to the Machine, Blago the Clown, etc. You name it.
Once again, we have gotten fucked and I can tell you, it just doesn't feel good this evening...
I don't ever want to hear complaining from the so called "conservative" officers in this department again. Well it's 0300 hrs. and the County Board Pres. vote still has not been counted. More than 1500 pts. are missing from that vote count. The Democrats are at it again.

Don't feel too bad though, as I've pointed out in numerous posts, there is little that separates the Democrats and Republicans on fundimental issues. I'll state it again: there is only one political party in the US--the Business Party with two factions. The more venal of the two factions (your beloved GOP) had their dangerous platform rejected by the public yesterday, that's all.
But lets examine what hasn't changed:
1. There is no push in Washington to overhaul the US healthcare system--the most inefficient in the industrialized world. Both factions of the Business Party are completely in thrall to Big Pharma, the insurance industry, and the HMOs; in other words the interests that benefit from the current arrangement--not the public.
2. The "free trade" agreements that the US has been trying to stuff down the throats of the global South to the continued devastation of those societies, has bi-partisan support.
3. Big Oil will remain the driving force behind US foreign policy in the Middle East. On a related note, Israeli intransience on the issue of the (illegally) Occupied Territories enjoys bi-partisan support as well. It remains the political kiss-of-death in either faction of the Business Party to hold Israel to the standards of international law--unique to only our political system.
4. There will be no serious push to impeach The Decider, desite his clear impeachable offenses regardless of noises from Democrats to the contrary. It's important to recall that key Democrats supported the Bush administration-sponsored legislation that (retroactively) absolved those who oganized and administered the illegal wire-tapping of American citizens in clear violation of the Constitution. Furthermore, the current policies regarding detainees, i.e prisoners of war, remains in violation of the Geneva Conventions, again with criticle bi-partisan support.
5. We won't be ending our illegal occupation of Iraq any time soon.
Relax. The only thing that changed was that the milder faction of the Business Party, itself a fully bought and paid for corporate subsidiary, has taken firmer hold of the reins. Sitting back comfortably in the coach (issuing gentle but firm instructions) remain the owners of our society--the corporate "citizens" and major investor classes whom "our" public servants have long served. Wipe your tears. Stay safe.
