Jesse Jr. knows opportunity when he sees it. And a new democratic majority offers new and exciting possibilities for himself. So new and exciting that he is announcing he will be dropping out of even considering a run at the mayor.
So all that's left is Luis Gutierrez and his "consideration" of a run. We're sure the odds have shortened a bit on his even attempting a run now. Dorothy Brown is already in place to draw minority votes away from any other challengers and she is filling that role admirably. We don't think we've seen coverage of a single press conference, news release or policy position since she announced for the spot over a month ago. Almost like she's a non-entity, isn't it?

The way I see it is Pelosi will be Speaker of the House (no suprise). The Country will see how the leftist woman either rises or falls on her face. They will also see how nuts she is and how she wants all of America to be like San Francisco. By 2008 we will have had our fill of this shit, show some balls and vote a loyal American into office for President.
Not that GW isn't loyal and he is a great guy but he is a bit to the right of center for a Republican. Where is Barry Goldwater when you need him.

According to Fox News tonight, both Jackson, Jr. and Goofy Gutierrez will be announcing that they are not running for mayor on Thursday.

The employment scene out here is really slow...
I suspect that there are three reasons why Little Louis and Jesse Jr. aren't running for mayor. 1. With the Democrats in power, they are in line for better positions in congress. 2. They couldn't agree on who should step aside and support the other. And most importantly 3. They know that short of a Federal Indictment, which isn't going to happen, at least not now, that Daley is virtually unbeatable. They will save their time, effort and money and run in 4 or 8 years or whenever Daley decides to step down.
they are not running for Mayor because as I see it its the payoff for getting Stroger Jr. elected and its on with the shell game...the Mayor will serve one more term and then turn over Chicago to--------fill in the blank....how about the underfunded pensions.....how about Blago raiding the teachers pension..........they are not listening because we have no voice..........

Dorothy Brown IS a non-entity. You have to have money and some name recognition OUTSIDE of your comfort (IE home support) zone to be a viable candidate for Mayor.
She has neither. My best guess is, she was placed in her position at the insistence of Daley to dilute whatever strength JJ Jr. or Meeks would have gathered. Who cares anyway? There appears to be no one in the wind who can successfully challenge Mayor Planters for the top job!

I am sick of watching the news or reading the newspapers. What ever happened to just reporting "The News?"
I like to come home from work and just read the days news.
But instead, I am forced to sort through a bunch of embellished B.S. and half-truths in the Slum-Times!
An example of this is the story about the stolen SUV that hit the building killing the little girl. It is a sad event. But just report it, okay?!
Instead we get a news story that equals a made for TV drama that is in the running for an Emmy award.
Example:
"As Makayla Parker sat on the floor of her west side home and snacked on Halloween candy Tuesday night, the five year old turned to her father with a loving message.
"Daddy?" she said.
"Yeah, what's up?" Unika Parker, 29 responded.
"You know I love you and Mommy."
"We love you, too."
The two locked eyes, and then turned back to the TV where COPS was on court TV.
"That's when the truck plowed through the wall," Unika Parker said.
Blah..Blah..Blah..
The girl died, it is sad. Unfortunatly, the Slum-Times has a track record of reporting like this. EVERY TIME some tragedy happens to some inner-city underprivileged family they write this way, EMBELLISHING and OVER DRAMATISIZING the whole event.
They did it when reporting on that fire several months ago in Rodgers park that killed 6 members of a family.
IT's as if they are scripting the way the whole thing will play out. I read that first paragraph, and thought to myself, "they must be preparing to SUE somebody!"
SURE AS SHIT, later in the article comes the revelation from some unidentified, un-named, witness that the POLICE were chasing the SUV just before the crash.
Then the quote from momma, "We can't even be safe in our own house" and then when told of the possible police chase by the reporter say's "If that's the case, they're liable. They're going to have to pay for my daughter's life!"
The newspaper always has these unknown "phantom" witnesses quoted in their news articles.
The police say no chase occured and has named witnesses that back that version up.
My take on the whole thing..okay we'll pay..Uhm, after subtracting all the welfare, rent and "nutrition assistance" (link) that you receive from various levels of government, I guess we're even okay?!

Not to upset you further, but what aired via COS sure sounded like CPD was chasing the stolen vehicle.
I was working there that night, it did NOT sound like a chase at all, the officers who were flagged down called it in and then asked the dispatcher to have fire step it up when they learned a child was suppose to be trapped underneath the SUV , which it was later learned was carjacked in the 5400 block of N. Neva in 016 earlier in the evening. The driver probably saw all the police cars in 015 (015 and TRU) and got spooked and took off thinking they knew he was wanted, probably drunk or high as well. Funny the media seemed to downplay that aspect of the incident or any culpability on the drivers part, it was immediately the police to blame. It's getting to the point where coppers are going to say to say fuck it and just answer calls, people get the police department they deserve......
Correct me if I am wrong, but wasn't Guiterez a Latin Dragon? Ans wasn't Dorothy Tillman arrested for prostitution?

I respect that. Harold was before my time. I'm glad you replied, but personally Daley and Cline have been good for me and I have 17 years on the job. But thanks for the respectful opinion!!
